I love my 140 action team. I had a 150TM manual bike last year which was amazing too and the 140 doesn't feel a whole lot different on the trail to that , in fact it feels a whole lot more planted. I ride it on everything from XC rides to super steep gnar and it's never felt out of depth. I've ridden the 160 too and I'd say the 29er wheels on the 140 make up for the difference in suspension travel. Best bike I've had so far.
Hey Hammy nice feedback, I although I didn't get to ride both I also figured the 140mm + 29er wheels would make up for having less travel than the 160mm so glad to see you got the same feeling in reality.
@@creativetaco4283 it's absolutely fine on drops and jumps , I only do upto about 3' drops and it floats fine over jumps doesn't actually feel much different to my last normal bike .
Nice! Here is Australia I spoke to the importer (99 Bikes), they said we won't be seeing these until around December this year. Looks to be good value for the spec. It's up there on my eMtb list.
Love the whole cube line up. From the Reaction Allroad 45 EX 625 to my FAVORITE bike the 140 HPC (bang for your buck). 160 Action is just pure sex appeal.
Hey McFly, nice video and I am really happy that you are so enthusiastic about these awesome bikes! A couple of months ago I was feverishly researching which EMTB to buy. After seeing how amazing value the Cubes seemed to be, I then spent a LOT of time agonizing between the 140 and 160mm Action Teams, but without the luxury of being able to test both of them (you are Harry Potter and I am a lowly muggle) and in the end I went for the 140mm. Why the 140mm? Well, I live in the Alps and ride a lot of cross-country stuff so that means a varied mixture of terrain from roads to dirt tracks to fields and up and down mountains and I do not go out specifically looking for "monster downhill". So, with that in mind I wanted that larger 29" wheel size to eat up the miles, roots and rocks and so far I find that 150mm/140mm travel is fine for the task. I am not a big or heavy guy and with a backpack probably weigh around 75-80KG (depending how much I need to pack) and I have not yet bottomed out my suspension doing what I do (as I said, no big jumps). The 160mm would of course have given more more scope for occasionally encountering rough terrain, but I think in the end you lose a lot with the smaller 27.5" wheels if you are doing mostly XC riding and even just as a daily commuter. So yeah I LOVE riding this thing, it's just so much fun and most importantly it is very comfortable on long rides whether you are on the flat, uphill or downhill. It feels solid and planted and gives me a lot of confidence. The gears are smooth, the brakes are plenty powerful enough and the Fox suspension seems to do the job well. The range of this baby is also fantastic... with careful use of the modes (50% Eco, 30% Tour and 20% EMTB/Turbo) I can get 47 miles / 76KM and still have 25% battery left when I get home. That is damn impressive to me and so far it's made me delay buying a spare battery. Oh yeah, and the other week I also went tubeless (my LBS did it for me as a favour owed) and so far it seems pretty bulletproof so I recommend you do that as soon as you get it. The only things that annoyed me so far, other than the colour scheme being a bit loud for my tastes, were the seat (super uncomfortable with my bony butt) and the grips (not so ergonomic for long use), so I swapped those out for Ergons and the ride comfort is MUCH improved, so I recommend you look at doing that if in the end you buy this bike. The battery key lock under the pop-off cover is also surprisingly fiddly and I feel like it's not as smooth as it should be when inserting the key and unlocking it, but I guess I am more used to it now and at least I have warranty to back me up if it fails. Oh yeah and it was a shock how heavy these damn E-bikes are, hah, but thankfully I have enough muscle to manage lifting it up and around when needed. I also highly recommend the EVOC E-ride backpack it's amazing quality and really useful and comfortable for full day rides. :)
What a great review! Yes, contact points (grips, pedals, saddles) need upgrades on a lot of bikes. I'd say you're right that this is especially true on the CUBE Stereo Hybrid bikes.
On the 160 At Could you let me know the size you demoed and your hight and weight. I've order the 160 am 85kg /176cm 5.9" 1/4. I've order the 18 but so unsure, if I should go with the 20? For slightly longer roomier feel and easier longer feel on steep decline?
great bike (I have a AT 140 2020) but the rear free hub has defected so I'm searching a new better free hub to change, do u know what new free hub has been mounted on the Actione Team 2021 ? they have changed but I don't know if the new one is compatoble with the whhel and spokes of Action Team 2020, thanks!
12 speed on an e-bike: great. Unless you tried it, don't settle with a 42 rear as "the best thing you rode". Bosch 14t is at a x2.5 = 35 Shimano comes with a 34 A 51 rear is great on the steep stuff. Also great when you want to save battery and use more leg power in "ECO". Pedaling out of an out-of-battery situation with a bosch 14 (35) + 42 = impossible... then pedaled my shimano (34) + 51 rear out with no problem ... my 2c. I know people sporting a 8 speed and 18 front sprocket. Was the first thing I changed....
@@FlyRidesUSA I didn't know I wanted them until my newer bike came with a 12 speed XTR set. Then I pedaled up on the first day to a mountain, all the way in ECO where the Bosch with the 42 took me "Emtb" with some "Turbo" at places, and used much less battery. To be fair, with the 51T I have the Eco in high, trail in mid, boost in mid. But unless I am rushed (by, e.g. others or time) I would pretty much use ECO until I get tired to save battery and get a better workout.
@@FlyRidesUSA it's funny by the way that some people look at large cassette chain-rings like they somehow prevented people from going fast. As if you didn't have an other 11 gears to use as normal. The only draw-back is the longer derailleur, but that's really an issue if you ride skinnies and rock gardens 24/7.
@@denesk2794 There always seems to be pushback in some way to new tech in cycling (i.e. eBikes in general haha). I think it's just that kind of thing. People get used to what is there and it's jarring to see something new for some reason.
@@FlyRidesUSA yup, the same principle applies to many things in life. People like what they are used to and often fear (or at least have some uncertain reactions to) change. It was the same with photography (manual vs digital and then SLR vs mirrorless), cars (gas vs electric), etc etc. It's human nature. :)
I really want to buy the Stereo 160 AT, but I'm struggling a bit with the frame size :-( I'm 1.83m (6.1f) and have an inner leg length of 87cm (about 34.5inc). I think I should go for the 20" frame rather than the 22". But when comparing the Top Tube (EFF) lenght of 619mm (about 24.5inc) with other bikes their Top Tubes are much longer than the Stereo. e.g. Orbea Wild FS H10 XL: 645mm, Corratec E-Power RS 160 Factory: 653mm But if I would go for the 22" frame, the seat tube would probably be too long. Cube 22": 520mm, Orbea XL: 483mm, my current Specialized non-E-Bike has 490mm I prefer it to be comfortable, rather upright seating and being more DH oriented :-) What's your recommendation on the size ?
Plase let me know, if you had to choose between "Radon Render 9.0 2020" and "cube stereo hybrid 140 hpc actionteam 625 kiox 2020", I'm interested in a electric bicycle all mountain, equipped with Shimano XT and the real difference between those two is the "Kashima Coated" for the Cube one, please let me know what did you choose ?
I do think there is a very big difference. I was never blown away by the Action Team in 2019. It was a solid bike, but left a lot to be desired. I think the smaller motor has really allowed CUBE's geometry to shine and allowed for a slightly more aggressive build. Better overall singletrack performance and overall versatility.
I have the 2020 140 SL. If you can live without the cashima, it basically 800 bucks cheaper on the TM and 1500 cheaper than the action team. Hopefully you have that in the US? Ps. It's a mistake to ride on emtb imo. There's no consistency I the ride. your better off flicking between tour and eco when you need it
