Loved the intro!! Good choice to listen to the song before you get distracted by seeing Elvis (as we all do). The way you notice every little detail never ceases to amaze me. I don't think you'll incur much criticism on how you ranked this one. Even though many of the movie songs were written just to fill out a soundtrack album, there are some hidden gems to be found. I was thrilled when our grandson and his new bride chose Elvis singing this one for their first dance.

Yep you got it exactly right Seph. The song was initially supposed to be the 'B' side of Rock-A-Hula Baby but soon made the transition to 'A' and sold millions. Many fans will probably find the studio recording running a minute longer superior to this more than acceptable movie version.

"Can't Help Falling In Love" is very popular at weddings. But it's also a great lullaby song. I played it to a very fussy two-week old great-grandson, and he was asleep long before it ended. At 14 months now it's still his go-to nap song. His S ranked list now includes Wooden Heart, Jailhouse Rock, King Creole, Big Boots and others that you haven't heard yet. He's a little Elvis fan in the making.

Blue Hawaii has a lot to say in the background of the story. He is wealthy and his mother doesn’t want him associating with “disgusting” island folk even though she was from mainland. He rejects her snobbery and loves an island girl. Her grandmother, to whom he is singing, is of Hawaiian royalty. Also, a troubled teenager tries to disrupt his new business. So lots to see and a great message in the movie.
The movie songs are good at this stage, and even a few more films, but eventually they became mundane (with a few exceptions). As others have said Can’t Help Falling In Love became a huge hit for Elvis and following on from that so many other singers have recorded the song over the years.

So Elvis & Co recorded this on March 23, 1961 at Radio Recorders in Hollywood, CA. One source cited October 20, 1961 as the release date of this song.
Elvis's recorded version was not the first adaptation of a pre- existing 1784 French song "Plaisir d'amour" (Pleasure of Love) Jean- Paul Egide Martini (1741- 1816). The text for his song was taken from a poem in a French novel titled "Celestine" by Jean- Pierre Claris de Florian (1755- 1794).
According to a 2020 survey, "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You" was the most popular song choice by couples for their wedding song.
Elvis's 1961 version was written by the Italian- American cousin songwriting duo, Hugo Peretti & Luigi Creatore as well as David Weiss (no familial relation). I already gave a bio on all three of those guys so all good on that score.
