Luciano was a natural light tenor like none other due to his beautiful voice with unique “timbre” or intonation/sound. I’ve heard quite a few great tenors interpret this aria but never like this. Amilcare Ponchielli wrote this difficult aria but it highlights the tenor’s range and mastery of his singing. It’s even tricky for a master like Pavarotti. However, he’s able to navigate through it with his vocal technique. Great presentation of La Gioconda - bravo !!! Thanks you.
LUCIANO PAVAROTTI fantastico!!!veramente fantastico!!!nel 1981 l ho ammirato all Arena di Verona proprio come Enzo Grimaldo....straordinario!
Luciano in his full glory. Still had the ringing beauty, yet the voice is fuller and more powerful in the lower range. Most importantly, because of the last decade, when his superstardom and stadium concerts led him to start singing with less perfection, musicality and emotion, many forget what a glorious singer he was in his first decades of singing. Every note is so beautifully phrased, and he is so emotionally involved in both his singing and acting that you truly believe the dream of his life is waiting around the corner.
You're 100% right. Mind you, when he started performing at stadium concerts he had already some 25+ years of singing behind him. Also, besides making him ultra-rich, he single-handedly had done more for opera popularization then anybody else before him and since he had passed away
I heard Pavarotti live many times in the 70's and early 80's.Yet now, so many years later, and from the perspective of the state of opera nowadays, I wonder if I was dreaming it all. As I listen to this I can truly say: no, I was not dreaming. There really and truly were singers like this.
Likewise, we heard Pavarotti at Lyric Opera of Chicago - shared same-stage-size Productions with San Francisco. I remember one Aida; there were other Productions. We held Season Subscriptions for 33 years! I remember the audible "groans" from the Audience on the two nights that Danny Newman - the P R. Director for Lyric - had to come-out pre-show & begin his Announcement: "LAY-dies and GEN-tlemen..." and we Knew that the Great-One was cancelling his performance.
what an nuanced expression to add to the unique timbre and qualities that are known to birds...I was a kid, 17... heard him sing Recondita armonia at three tenors concert related to World football cup in Italy...I felt like a lightning had stiken me...bever heard something so beautiful before...now I yearn for those first times when you hear him, cause even the best French dish becomes less special after you've eaten it countless times.
A masterclass in glorious tenor singing. I heard Pavarotti a few years before his passing, not in his prime like here. If only this opera was heard more often!
I heard Pavarotti in a recital in 1974; it changed my life. His recordings introduced me to Sutherland and Horne. (IMO there is no one who comes close to the incomparable brilliance of Sutherland: her's was the greatest voice of all time.) I met Horne after a concert in 1973; she couldn't have been sweeter or more appreciative of me coming backstage to say hello. These memories always bring me joy and satisfaction in knowing I've heard the very best.

Son Opiniones Personales!
Muy Subjetivo.
Sol DIOS!!!!
Puede decir, quien fué o es , la Mejor Voz de Todos los Tiempos!!!!!
In my opinion the greatest love song ever sung, by the greatest singer ever to sing.
Oh please. Corelli’s version is easily looked up.
@@liedersanger1 if Corelli's version makes you happy then I am happy but remember when it comes to taste there can be no dispute.

Per me Pavarotti é entrato nella schiera dei grandissimi
Oh man, he looks good! The costume, the wig, the earring (!), love him! And singing is, as always, a perfection. Thank you, Daiana!

Canta, no interpreta.
he never manage to say ''angelo mio'' in non of interpretations of this aria..lol..''l'angiole mio'' he sings
"Angiolo" is an archaic form of "angelo".
Yes, until the end of the nineteenth cenyury the word was "angiolo". The Duke in Rigoletto sings "angiol".
Your ignorance is outstandingl!
