@@Brasswatchman - Yeah, I mean the episode ended with Tendi lying on Rutherford’s chest as they crawled through a Jeffries tube and neither one was the least bit self-conscious about being that intimately close. That being said, I’m pretty sure that Rutherford probably has some romantic feeling s for Tendi (even if he’s not aware of it). That “…gorgeous green eyes” line seemed way too specific and at the forefront of his mind for it to not be.
Their issue is that they assumed being friends and dating are exlusive. There are friends who appear more like lovers and lovers who appear more like mortal enemies.
Here's a tip, from someone who had to pretend to date their bestie before, drop the pet names. It makes it sounds like you're trying too hard. Just call eachother what you normally do, just with a bit more affectionate tone.
The way the main Ferengi guy comes up and suddenly sentences the other couple to jail for lying, makes me really think it was a setup, and he knew they weren't a couple. Ferengi have really great hearing after all, he could probably hear them saying "lets just be friends" and wanted to prevent them from ruining his show. He sorta designed the whole situation to force them to go as far as possible, likely for entertainment. The couple going to jail was staged as a thinly veiled threat to keep them in-line for the show.
Her observation about the waiter wearing one of those “velour uniforms that used to catch fire all the time” is a VERY layered and deep cut. Well done.
2:09 It's funny how it goes from people visually being shocked that such a thing is happening (especially at a restaurant) to hearing excited cheering, to going back to their meals. That and how most of the cheering seem to be coming from females, I guess Rutherford and Tendi are considered very attractive to female Ferengi XD.

Its actual a legislation that was hinted at near the end of DS9, isn't it? Part of the progressive reforms? Amusingly there is at least one background Ferengi female who is, shall we say, being a traditionalist... The best humour in this show seems to come from realistic examinations of the comedic side-effects and implications.
The fact there's a homewrecker package means this happens often enough in that hotel to make financial sense to offer.
A good Ferengi is prepared for any business opportunity.
