Kudos to the RLPO (many years ago, now) for bringing this brilliant Maestro to the UK! His tenure at the Phil was transformational! The London RPO now has this benefit! Best wishes, Vasily!
Maestro Petrenko, thank you for such an instructive and fascinating interview...much appreciated, and keep up the excellent music-making which you do so well! Greetings from Minnesiota, and thanks for your honesty! From a Shostakovich music lover.
A fascinating interview. Vasily Petrenko is such a bright and interesting person as well as a fantastique conductor. I truly wish someone would have told Tim Lihoreau to keep his hands away from his mouth. When he was not putting his hand or fingers over his mouth , he was scratching his leg. Is it so difficult to interview a very articulate conductor such as Petrenko and conduct yourself in a reasonable manner ?
That must be the first time I have EVER heard a conductor apparently criticise his own Orchestra! The truth is when you have listened to as much Classical music as I have over 58 years you know very well that even the greatest musicians are still human and therefore fallible . From the Berlin Phil to the New York Phil to every other orchestra that exists there are times when they make mistakes, are not quite together, do not " shine " on the day etc etc. In many cases these mistakes actually make it onto the final recording. I have heard it said that the RLPO actually learn a piece very quickly indeed in comparison to other orchestras
You are so cool, Mr Petrenko. So interesting to hear your interpretation of the music you so beautifully and movingly conduct.

Hi Petrenko. I'm your fan from TH.
Have you seen how music moves through his hands when conducting
