Any details on using the app w/ Genie plus for PhotoPass photos? I suppose at each photopass location on the app there are staff that will scan the code on the app and take pictures. Is there a limit on the number of pictures that you can request at each spot? Also, which rides provide photopass pictures and do these show up automatically? Thanks for the great vid!
That’s a good point I didn’t think about. Would have been helpful to add to this video. So, for Photopass cast members, they just scan your phone and it appears. Thats where I mentioned it in the app. But what I forgot about (because I rarely use Photopass) is that Disneyland is different than WDW. At WDW, almost every guest has a MagicBand there OR has their phone set up with RFID to act as a keycard of sorts that you tap to get into the park. And this tech Disney uses to scan your ticket and automatically apply your photo pass. But at Disneyland, when you see your ride photo, there’s a random arrangement of letters and numbers that function as a code for your picture. You have to enter this numbers in your Photopass page to have that photo add to your account. I usually recommend taking a picture of your photo on screen with the numbers, and then you can add them later.
I won’t be attending sweethearts nite. No. Im going to try to go to Star Wars nite if I can get tickets. The after hours events are pricey, and I’ve got to pick and choose what I go to.
Have you tried the honeydew milk tea at cappuccino cart? Is it good. Also could you maybe show the process of merchandise checkout? I noticed you just named it so I’m thinking it’s really just self explanatory
Thank you so much @socaldisneydad for your videos! 👏🏻 We are going in a few weeks and I haven’t been to Disneyland in over 15 years! 😱 so your videos have been super helpful to learn the ins and outs of everything! (Love the food videos too! I’ve got my list of “must try” right along with my “must ride” list! 😆) But can you please explain what the virtual queue is? Does it cost extra?
Virtual queue is only for world of color right now. And it’s just like a reservation to enter the seating area. It’s free. But can only be made at Noon the day of. So you can’t do it ahead of time. It has to be reserved in the Disneyland App in that Virtual Queue area at Noon. If you don’t get a virtual queue, you can still watch World of Color from any spot you can manage to find, but it won’t be in the main viewing area where you’ll get a good view of the projections.
I don’t stack. I try to avoid stacking at all costs because it’s a waste of the service. You have to engage the 2 hour rule every time, which means the busiest rides are mostly gone before you can book even 2-3 of them. Most people want to stack because they aren’t arriving until 12 PM, but at Disneyland, you can’t even get LLs until every party member is scanned into the park. So if everyone has to drag themselves out of bed to scan into the park, you might as well just stay in the park. The one time we’ve stacked was when we went back to the hotel in the afternoon and were there for 3 hours relaxing. In that case, we made reservations for rides that were already out to our general time we were going back and then 2 hours later while at the hotel, we’d be another for around that same time. This is the only truly useful situation for stacking at DL.
@@SoCalDisneyDad thank you so much for your reply! Ok I won't worry too much about the stacking, hopefully next week isn't too busy. Your videos have been a great help with planning 😊
Do rider switch passes populate differently than lightning lane? Like if our first group goes and I get a rider switch, can I make my next lightning lane right away? Also how does rider switch work on rides like maters that don’t have a lightning lane line?
Yes, rider switch passes are given by the cast member and aren’t connected to Genie+ at all. Think of it as a free hall pass if you will. For the rides without lightning lanes they’ll take you through the exit most likely. Just talk to the cast member at the front of the standby line. Each ride has different policies.
If using genie plus. Does everyone in your party have to use it for a ride. For example if just my husband wants to ride a ride that our kids can’t go on, can he just use genie plus for that ride?
Yes, but you need to be sure to ONLY book him and not everyone. If you book it for everyone and then not everyone uses it, the people who didn’t use it will be unable to book another one until they use it, 2 hours elapses, or you cancel the reservation for everyone else.
We have a party of three adults and three kids. Can we link all passes on all three adult apps? How do we link the tickets so we all three have access to them?
I’m not positive, as I’m using the Disneyland iOS App. The best way to check is to download the Disneyland App on your Samsung phone and try to place a mobile order at home. You can get all the way to the payment screen without any issues and it will show you the payment options. An online source said Samsung Pay is not eligible, but Google Pay is. That article is also 3 years old. So I can’t say for certain that they haven’t updated it since then. The easiest way to check is to download the app and try it for yourself as I mentioned. Please do let me know what you find out because it’ll be helpful to know in case anyone else asks.
Hi, if I bought tickets and it shows a theme park reservation number it means I don't need to do anything else right? I thought I had to make the reservation apart from my ticket's purchase
On her phone she just needs to go to the ticket page and press the + to add tickets. And then either scan it from your phone or enter the ticket numbers manually. If neither of those work, contact Disneyland via the Chat and they’ll have the answer. Additionally, my wife just logs into my account on her app on her phone and we’ve never had an issue being logged in on both devices.
It lights up and vibrates on rides. And you can play Bounty Hunter with it using the Play Disney Parks app. But outside of that, no. It still hasn’t gotten the feature to pay for things like you can at WDW. And it’s been over a year that we’ve had it at Disneyland.
@@SoCalDisneyDad hmm the app is buggy for me. Can see my March dates and it allows me to choose the attractions I am interested in but when I finish, it just reverts to the current day
@@SoCalDisneyDad ok no worries. I don't think I will really use that feature as we have a good idea already on what we want to ride. Will use the Tip Board instead when we are there!
Thank you! You're so kind! Sunday I remembered hearing that in one of your videos, did it and had a great time on rainy Monday. Thanks!@@SoCalDisneyDad
Disney has done a good job with the mobile ordering. And pretty much with the map, too. Great job Traver and Amy.
This is the exact video I needed before my solo trip in February! Thank you for this!

When do you recommend are the two best times of day to get on Radiator Springs & Rise w/o purchasing LL? I'd assume 9-10am but what's your experience?
9-10 for sure. You’re right on the money. Though for Radiator I highly recommend Single Rider if your group can split/doesn’t mind splitting.
Is there a video on how to stack LLs?

Is there wifi throughout the park now? Its been 7 years since I've been there.
I think so. I was surprised to find it available inside Indiana Jones. So if it’s deep in that building, it’s probably available everywhere.
