He only missed shots he did everything else at a high level last year. The fact that you people can’t understand there so much more then just shooting 3s
That’s nice but this isn’t 2004, it’s 2024 and efficient scoring from 3 is probably the most important trait of an elite wing. Particularly on the Celtics given the volume they take.
He is a top 5 player. People just dont understand or like to look at advanced stats. Tatum is a thinking mans player unlike lets say jokic/luka whose impact is easy to see for casuals. The devils in the details for tatum. Its not in points, reb, asts and triple doubles which seems to be the gatekeeper in recent years for mvp candidacy. You have to value (and look at) certain things to understand how tatum is valuable in contributing to winning. Examples are the capability to defend 1-5, be a great defender while being a great offensive player (most casuals dont value defense, or at least not on the level of offense), potential assists, screen assists, the ability to bend defenses with off-ball movement (like steph), etc. theres a reason why tatum is always a league leader if not actually leading the league in +/-, net, etc. Tatum isnt a #1-3 at anything but hes a top 5 player are everything. His versatility/lack of weakness is his biggest strength. Hes this generation's pippen, timmy or grant hill. Before haters come in, no i'm not saying hes as good as those guys but make no mistake, tatum will end his career as an HOFer. Bottomline here, the voting media and casuals have to wisen up their basketball knowledge. Learn to value defense. Learn to value utility. If they dont, yeah tatum will never win MVP. He'll win a finals mvp though much like his closest comp in todays game: kawhi.
His production in the playoffs didn't dip down he led the team in points, assist and rebounds and he did it in the regular season, he was just having a 3 point shooting slump and worked on it in the summer.
honestly I would LOVE for him to have an MVP season, and maybe have Brown do good enough get some votes. The narrative that the Celtics are not that good, and that Tatum sucks, is stupid. I'm not a Celtics fan, I'm a Wolves fan, but at least I can respect another players talent instead of trying to tear him down
Basketball is the only sport that thus happens in. ⚫️ culture as a whole is predicated on hate, jealousy and envy. Look how past legends in basketball are torn down. No one does that in football baseball or hockey
Tatum was in the Eastern conference finals since the beginning of his career he literally had nothing left to prove in the playoffs except could he win the Chip he's done everything else big scoring games big assist games big rebound games he had did everything except for when the whole damn thing and he did that last year he has nothing left to prove he doesn't have to prove to him that he can score because we've already known that for god sakes I once seen the man score 50 twice on Kevin Durant in a three-game span
The celtics are so stacked sometimes Tatum or Brown gotta step back and let others shine the finals were no exception and he didn't need to play to prove himself cause he was doing what he needed to win. That same mentality reflected in the Olympics, he always needed to win and I think he's okay not being played because regardless he got the gold, and he got the championship.
I delivered a package to his house once. I can also confirm the revenge tour is underway. (The first part’s true but I didn’t meet him or anything. Sure seems like he’s on a revenge tour though)
if Tatum scored 40 a game they would say he was being selfish and not a team player. Now that he is more of a team player they are saying he needs to score 40. Tatum will always be criticized no matter what he does..
Tatum is going hard and Brown has his back and they play so well together. With Jrue, White, and Horford for now look nice. They struggled a bit witth the pistons but pulled it out by 6. Cant wait till Porzingus get %100 healthy. He played like 10 min in the playoffs and finals last year but they won! Just wait till hes playing strong!! Go Green☘☘☘
bro the reason why he got on this tear is because he KNOWS just like so many of us do, that he did NOT under perform, he had troubles in only scoring efficiency, yet he modified his game to perform just as well as he usually does by being a playmaker instead of just an iso bucket getting scorer like everybody wanted him to be. He performed above his level but just for once it wasnt in the easy to calculate flashy on fire scoring way, but in the measured methodical and surgical playmaking/assisting way
@@kevinc8955 oh so bc he wasn't as efficient he underperformed. Are we forgetting everything else that goes into basketball or are you just looking at scoring?

sga and jokic remains to be his biggest threat to that elusive MVP, jokic can easily farm triple doubles but bad supporting cast might give tatum the edge. SGA on the other hand will be harder to out-muscle, okc look it it will be winning 60 plus games this season as well.
@@kyle7228the nuggets have looked rough, while they might turn it around I think they’ll be a mid playoff team. That’s why Tatum Luka Shai and AD all have a better shot at mvp than Jokic imo
Im not rocking with the underperform narrative in the playoffs. He shot the ball bad, but did everything else exceptionally well and still led the team in major stats throughout the playoffs including scoring. Idk when we decided shooting the ball bad was a blanket for overall performance in games considering he still scored, assisted, and rebounded more than JB, but it's part of the reason he feels slighted and ready to win MVP.
His production doesn’t “consistently dip” in the playoffs. The last couple seasons his shooting has been bad in the playoffs but everything else has been good. And before that his production consistently went UP. He’s just been more inconsistent shooting ever since he bulked up
Not only is he playing great with some noticeable shooting and scoring adjustments he looks as locked in as I’ve ever seen him. Genuinely looks ready to kill everyone. Much different body language and demeanor out there.
I get people love to see shots go in but everything else u mentioned in this video Tatum did in last years playoff run. I just wish people could be more nuanced and not decide if someone was a great player based on if they hit a few more shots or not. So much more to his game!!
Its SO frustrating how media pundits only judge Tatum on his scoring output. Never focusing on his all around game (he usually leads this team in rebounds and assist on a game to game basis)..he's a solid defender and gives the same energy on both sides of the floor unlike Brunson, Bron, Joker, Giannes (last 2 seasons)..SGA, Doncic, KD, and Anthony Edwards, Curry, etc..But because they all score at a high level, Tatum gets bashed or overlooked because he does so much more on both sides of the floor. he is solid top 5, love it or not
The Ringer top 100 had him at 6. Of course Embiid is before him, even though the man has never got out of the second round...
Tatum is more than a solid passer. Whipping a left pass to Derrick White in his pocket for 3 is close to the level of top passers in the league
Not to mention the behind the back no-look pass to a Horford 3 in the ECF. Would be all over social media had it been Jokic, Luka or Bron.
