Society has this extremely odd ideology of adults that are barely legal. A 17 year old can’t even adopt a hamster. The maturity gap between a 17 year old, an 18 year old, and a 19 year old is small. The only thing that would swiftly advance maturity in such little time is the responsibility that is pushed onto 18 year olds as soon as they become legal “adults”. She’s still a teen.
