I’m your newest subscriber. I enjoy the videos I’ve watched. This video was cool. I too can’t find anyone in my life that cares about physical media. My wife loves to watch movies too but if she can stream it, she would. But she supports my addiction. lol. Keep it going. You seem like one of the genuine TH-camrs. There aren’t many. Thanks for the videos.
I was born in 72 and was one of the lucky ones to see star wars in the cinema here in the uk around Jan 78!..London got it at the end of Dec 77 then the rest of the UK got it jan 78!..I had all the toys as well like some kids would c collect different franchises but I just focused on star wars...watching star wars on the big screen is what got me into being interested in movie collecting starting with vhs!🙂
I saw it for my birthday on Sat the 21st of May. I had literally zero context for it, and my young brain was completely and utterly blown. On the way back to the car my dad needed a sit-down and we stopped at Burger King for a meal... it was literally the one and only time we ever got fast food.
I have a similar story or arc. I’m 43 born in ‘81. So for the most part I can relate to most of what you mentioned minus being old enough to see some of those epic 80s films in the theaters. But my parents did have HBO-Showtime back then. I can remember around in ‘86 watching HBO and certain films came on like the last dragon, legend of billie jean, silver bullet, fright night, gremlins, etc I think the first Star Trek I can remember was probably search for Spock that was on Showtime probably in 86-87. Like you I recorded a ton off tv, cable etc. Then eventually when I got money I would get some VHS. Then eventually got into dvd around 2003 or so. I used to make videos around 2014-15. So like you I would go on TH-cam find collectors, and people into movies and I eventually started making videos of my own. I sorta stopped but I met some cool people here as you mentioned. I’ve watched Pizowell for years when he was part of the original sausage factory. And some of the other people you named so TH-cam has been a source of a community that you can talk movies, and physical media etc. In real life most people don’t quite get the buying movies etc. Keep doing what you’re doing. If it’s a way to de-stress that’s great! Thanks for sharing

@jrp1226 thank you so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying what I'm putting out. I really appreciate it, and I plan to keep doing it!
I like my origin stories to have 100% more Gamma Radiation... or at least a weirdly-glowing meteorite... even a dumb radioactive spider bite!
