    My CF roof is giving me fits. I parked under the flight path of some birds and they bombarded my roof. Despite cleaning the poop off as soon as I got home, it etched my roof and the Jescar / MF combo isn't making a dent. I need more tools, MORE POWER. I think I need pneumatic! Love the M3 series.

    If it looks good to the eye without a flash light at 1 inch away, then thats good enough for me. Reason I say that is as soon as you start regular washing routine you WILL sustain micro-scratching, no matter how careful you are to frequently clean the washing pad in a 'clean water' bucket. Better to accept this and maintain your sanity.

    Great video, Matt. Thanks for posting. Your E92 series inspired me to get my tools out and finally go to town on my carbon black E38. Been putting it off for too long but ended up spending a weekend and several week nights compounding and ceramic coating. For its age and history, the paint is not in terrible shape but I still ended up with several deeper scratches that just wouldn't come out. Your video basically confirmed my suspicion that a more aggressive pad and compound probably wasn't going to "cut" it (ha). Wet sanding would be the next step but that's where I draw the DIY line. What are you planning to do with those in your roof?

    I would really love to see a video of you doing an entire vehicle using just M100. This would, I'm sure, a lot of folks on here as they have this in their arsenal.

    I had the same problem on my e92. Took like 10-15 passes with jescar correcting and like 3 pads to get it where I wanted. I still had to go back a few weeks later because it was bugging me.

    I had too much yellowing so i took off the clear coat down to the carbon fiber. Now i gotta finish sanding it even but almost done. Should be spraying by tomorrow night i hope

    I found the clear coat on the carbon roof of my M4 to be extremely hard compared to the rest of the paint. Microfiber pad and Sonax PF doesn't seem to do much even on very very light swirls.

    An exhaust hood vented to the outside might be a good way to go while blowing out pads under it rather than blowing into the air and back on your car. Not expensive, simple to do, effective and keeps dust & dirt from filters, pads, etc off your shop.

  • @mikerelvas

    It's weird that the scratches on the carbon fiber roof are putting up a fight. I wonder if the coating is different or simply because the scratches are deeper. Regardless, the car is looking spectacular. Awesome work as always!
    Cheers.

    Have you thought of having a fan or vacuum to help capture the residue off the pad when you blow it out? It looked like the residue was being thrown in the air and potentially hitting the car

    Did you notice a big difference in the clarity of the carbon after you finished? I am looking to do the same thing on a C6 ZR1 and want to try to make the carbon really pop before I get PPF installed on it.

      Obsessed Garage tested it with Jescar on a MF pad. Did a lot to clean up swirls and fading. But did absolutely nothing to fix the yellowing. All my research seems to point at needing body shop to re clear

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว
