  • Time for 9th episode of the Fun Farms with redstonless mob farms working on Magic, actually not - based on mobs wandering. Simple modifications allow to use this basic mechanics for 1.11 with default entity cramming.
    For even simpler design that doesn't require any digging around the spawner check this 1.15 update video at this timestamp:

    This is still working fine in 1.18 if anyone is here wanting to try it.
    One thing to note, if you use the 1 piston/6 comparator suffocator, is that blazes now have to be fully inside of blocks to suffocate. This means you'll need a 2 blocks to suffocate them, not just 1. So just add a sticky piston above the one you already have (where gold block is in part of video about suffocator) to move the magma (glass in this portion of video) also. Then break the block behind that piston and put a redstone dust there (on top of block last comparator points into), and then place that block you broke on top of the redstone by the buttons (so it hides the redstone behind the top piston) and use the wood button option, don't power it directly or they will be out of sync.

      After 1.16 it's just easier to use lava to flush the blazes, because of the change to the lava mechanics

    • @WilliamAndySmith-Romaq
      @WilliamAndySmith-Romaq ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@excavart Yeah, 1.19.3. I'll need to try lava flushing. They crowd around the entrance to the killbox but REFUSE to enter the damned thing and all pile up. I'm standing there watching them all jammed together to go in next to the empty killbox. Trap doors are there, spaces to pathfind into beyond the trap doors... Oh! Let me see if I have one of those doors upside down which might be the problem. But if flipping that doesn't fix it... lava flow here I come!
      I also note it is a really good plan to have an "off switch" you can make pouring lava over a layer of signs just above the spawner. I use an observer block chain going up the solid blocks to the lava dispenser and a switch (buttons take too long and make a useless double-pulse). So I'm quite free to work on this without being harassed by blaze.
      EDIT: I flipped the damned trap door, now they are all piling in through into the killbox. I may spring for lava flow next version. This is nuts.

      Lava isn't fast, but it's steady and far less work on my brain and pickaxe. I push them into a 1 x 3 kill box for easier collection. The gold farm is far faster and passive if xp is the goal, and we can't yet build pretty blocks out of blaze rods. We only need so many on a small server.

    I was just informed that I missed a very important video of a similat concept by Redstone Jazz:

    Sorry, but I haven't been playing this game when that video was out.

    • @Arm3dWithWings
      @Arm3dWithWings 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, to be fair there are tons of videos out there that are obscure/ not noticed at the time. I guess your video will be the one to spread this idea more than Jazz did, but at least the idea gets disseminated lol... thanks for the name of the video (also to Unary) since i forgot it and really could not for the life of me find it.

    • @Unarybit
      @Unarybit 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Nothing to excuse. Restone Jazz's video has not spread so widely.
      I do not understand why his concept has not been established. I've built several farms with it, it's perfect for monster spawner.
      But your video brings it to a whole new level. Instead of platforms, a large block is enough. I have not even thought that the mobs go without pathfinding towards the blocks. Although I should have known it, because of my experiences with the Enderman Light Funnel back then.
      Great research and work Gnembon :)

      hey unary! how you been! we all been waiting for more of your incredibly well done tutorial maps!! I hope all is good! see you around! btw, how would you manage the entity cramming rule on your villager breeders, I've coming up with ideas but all of them are unnecessarily complex XD

    • @Unarybit
      @Unarybit 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey, I'm fine. Only too much work, so I do not have much time for other things.
      The Villager Breeder for 1.9 is not affected by the cramming rule, except you need more than 24 new villager at once. Then I would make the holding cell for the new villager simply bigger, 2 x 2 blocks or so. I would not control the number of the new villager with pressure plates / pistons in the snapshots, since things will still change.

    4 blocks around spawner 6 blocks below. use outside as transparent blocks. clear 10 blocks horizontally from cage and 7 blocks above and below vertically. in one corner of transparent cage make a 10 by 10 cube. start the cube at the top in level with the spawner. go all the way down to the bottom of the area you cleared. use trapdoors to make the blazes head over to the solid blocks then fall down. make a piston with a lever so that when blazes wander to that one spot you can hit the lever and suffocate the blazes until they’re one tap. then hit them once and they die

    This worked very well. Double blaze spawners side by side, single large cage with solid block mass centered on one of the long edges. 2 wide fall space into 4 wide 3 deep chamber which holds under 1.12.2 about 130 before entity cramming damage starts (15 minutes to accumulate). I slaughter the front half then hit the lever to a double piston extender at the rear upper row with 4 slime blocks to push the rear blazes forward and block the dropshaft.
    Thank you so much for showing in your videos what's really going on and not just "put these blocks here this way".

    This still works as of the latest version of the game, but I must say, even following this guide to the letter, and triple checking my work, sometimes Blaze AI just... sort of breaks. They'll spawn and either move a bit, then refuse to ever move again, despite there being a clear block they COULD pathfind to if they wanted, OR they'll spawn and immediately break and do nothing despite... what I just said still being true. SO. It works in my experience for approximately 75% of all spawned blazes. A disappointment obviously because one doesn't like to see waste from a mob spawner, but if you want a design like this, you'll likely have some extra Blazes sitting around with nothing you can do about it.

    I think you should've made 2 videos. One easy and short build tutorial (possibly with multiple killing techniques), and one video where you explain in detail how it works and why it works.
    This video is amazing for me since you explain it really well, but those who are a bit newer to the game and or those who don't know as much about game logic would probably get lost in all the information. Those people only really need a video showing that it works and showing how to build it.
    I really appreciate this detailed video though! Thank you very much!!

    awesome tutorial! Even after almost 3 years, still the best blaze farm design/tutorial I found, that doesn't rely on massive amounts of slime (either to just push the blazes the way we want, or to build flying machines, so we can keep the pushing part to 2 layers, instead of 4 or more.); and also considering that most of the tutorials I found don't really work in vanilla, and are made for servers where people can pick up/buy spawners. While relocating those should be impossible as far as i know.

I have tested the blocking methods with the stair and the trapdoor method, but they still tempt to attack me. Is there any way to make they not recognize me? • @Ketchupburger
      @Ketchupburger 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes this does work in 1.14. He talks about it in the video, but if you manage to let the blaze see you before you kill it, it will alert all the other blazes and force them to aggro you and stay in place. Usually only 2 or 3 actually get aggroed so it only slightly reduces the efficiency, but it can still be frustrating. Keep in mind this doesnt always happen. it only happens in specific instances. I used the design for the piston crusher at 18:20. If you wait for a lot of blazes to go into the trap at once and kill them with one swing it makes it less likely for the blazes to have the chance to see you.

    Have just finished making this in PE on my iPad. For those that are interested, you don’t need the trap doors or magma etc just a clear 1 block hole down to your killing chamber. The blazes don’t all automatically pathfind down , they may wander a bit first, but they all eventually just fall straight down the hole. AFK for 20 mins got me 10+ levels easy. A pain to build as they constantly spawn in front of you when clearing but well worth the effort. So far best XP gathering plus a fuel source for auto smelting in PE I’ve come across. So wish they would hurry up and bring sweeping edge to pocket edition though!!!

      hi gnembon. sorry. i haven't upload the vid yet. We, i mean I and my viewers have discussed about this AI for 2 weeks. Now..uh... I got a question. Which AI is a high probability? "wondering the solid block" or "finding the path". This question came to my mind 2 or 3 hours ago and I've tested several times. It seems to be same.... Can you find the answer. Again. Sorry for uploading the vid so late.

    • @gnembon
      @gnembon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No problem - take your time :-). In order for the wandering to kick in a mob has to have both a target, and a partial path to it, that gets him closer to it - so both are equally important.

    • @gnembon
      @gnembon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I can see right now what you are talking about. You are playing MCPE/Console/Win10 edition, and wandering is different in this version. Seems that you can still build a trap, but all blocks can be used for target for pathfinding, which means that it wouldn't be to get it that clean as in vanilla, but you don't need that large mass of blocks to attract them.

    • @BrunoXeno

    I just built this on my SMP server, so this still works for 1.14.4. I've noticed that if you've built this on a server, you can disconnect and reconnect (ie. reload the chunk) to "reset" the blaze wandering. This will cause all the blazes in the spawning room to suddenly rush to the collection area. Great for when there are a bunch of blazes in the spawning room that do not want to move.

    This is great! Apparently, I started watching the video a while ago but I must have gotten sidetracked. I came back and finished it today and its brilliant. The popular design uses pistons to push blazes to a central location, but I really don't like that design so I went hunting and found this. This corrects so many issues. No more pistons are needed to get the blazes to the kill chamber and you can afk right next to the kill chamber in some of these designs. Its pure genius honestly
