- More than six months after Hamas carried out an multi-pronged offensive on southern Israel, the highest-ranking Israeli government official has stepped down.
In his resignation letter, Major General Aharon Haliva noted that authority comes with responsibility -- and admitted the military intelligence directorate under his command had failed to warn of the October the 7th attack.
It comes as public outrage against perceived Israeli government and military failures gains momentum.

I like the discussion on “intelligence”. There are so many parallels btwn the U.S. and Israel. I was in the army, infantry in the U.S. war against the people of Viet Nam. Tragic. However, many of the Israeli casualties were inflicted by the Israeli army who shelled settlements occupied by Hamas indiscriminately, happy to kill the terrorists and not get hurt themselves in the process, while Israeli civilians were just a collateral. Hamas killed some civilians while taking others as hostages. I guess this was no hostage rescue operation, just shell everything in those areas.

Haliba is just the fall guy or proverbial 'scapegoat' for this obvious dereliction of duty when it came to the intelligence failure of ignoring the movements and intelligence that warned of the October 7th attacks. The main reason that there was a failure in intelligence surrounding suspicious activities that led to the October 7th attacks, is because the top leaders in the Israeli government, military and intelligence services knew very well that this event was going to occur as the Israeli govt. deliberately allowed it to happen. The October 7th attacks was the red flag event that the Netanyahu led government needed to divert attention from Netanyahu's substantiated charges of corruption, and for the Zionist far right project to move forward in accelerating a full scale assault and genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.
