Dave Vives has some of the most badass vocals I've ever heard - I was pulled in by Old Yeller but man, his voice just expresses so much that it hits soooo deep
Xi thank you so much! Having the creative control to do whatever you want, like the boys in Childish Japes gave me, is such a privilege. I took a lot of risks, hoping they would resonate with people who listened. That makes comments like these mean so much.
To me Mals Totem is still one of the best band ever. Childish Japes and Iris Lune are a blessing. Dave himself is the crazy one that made me fall in the loophole when I saw him singing whole lotta love in front of sir Jimmy Page with such confidence that.. I don't know something clicked and I will never be the same again
Played guitar and sang in a band in college in the 90's, stopped playing music for around 15 years or so and slowly picked it back up a few years ago. Bought a drum set recently to outfit my home studio and discovered JP Bouvet in my late night youtube binges trying to learn more about the instrument. I've watched countless video's from all the greats - both contemporary and from the past. Something keeps pulling me back to JP's drumming - so tasteful and nuanced yet capable of explosive chops... and Childish Japes is an incredible band that I can't stop listening to. Amazing musicianship and creativity from every member and artist who contributes - I absolutely love it and feel inspired every time I listen. Well Done and keep doing your thing!
Been jamming Salamander all week, really eclectic and creative stuff. Can’t wait for the next one! I really appreciate how you guys are blurring the lines of what is expected. This one and Lying To Us are my personal favorites. I admit, being a fan of JP’s drumming is what initially put Childish on my radar but I’m so glad the band is more than just that and it’s own entity. Can’t wait to hear more.
Lying to Us is one of my favorites too! Started writing it back in the days of Mals Totem, the band I was in with Asher before Childish Japes. The band broke up and we never finished it, but then we got to revive it for Salamander. It's spent a long time growing up and it's so good to see it getting some love!
Fucking HELL JP! This is AWESOME!! Man, the acting you did at 0:34 was TOP NOTCH. And that build-up at 2:55 with the scrolling faces and then BAM BAM BAM BAM (chair flashing) CHORUS! Fuck yes, as a drummer this video was very pleasing to watch.
Childish Japes is just a trio with no front person. We feature different singers and instrumentalists on all our projects. The 3rd album will be instrumental, featuring sax and keys players.
@@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power they dont have 1 specific frontman/woman, courtney sang some songs but others did too, they just really wanted an album with Dave
Hey Martin. We actually don't have a front person. We feature different people on different albums. We love Dave! But if don't, that's ok, just wait for the third album. It'll be instrumental.
@@JPBouvet sure JP, I understand. You made a song with a lady a few months ago that I think matchs x100 better with your music. But that's just my opinion. You guys knows what's the best. ;)
SALAMANDER IS THE MOST UNDERRATED ALBUM OF ALL TIME. PERIOD.
Best testimony of all time. Period.
This made my day ❤️❤️❤️

JP’s cymbal accent at 3:26 is so satisfying!!

Epic pun finish, hats off sir. @JPBouvet pushes us all to be the best we can be, and he does it with a gentle leadership that I always wish I had
Kit sounds phenomenal! My god that snare!

Surely somebody else is hearing the Jeff Buckley voices in the highs he sings??

Image of Dave throwing the mike. Memorable. 'Well Done'!
This is one of the greatest things I’ve heard musically in a long time.

Well done!!! Very catchy song with good mix!!!

Love your drumming JP. So glad to discover that you're in a band too! Incredible stuff. right up my street
You must add this singer in the band forever
Something about the delivery of the lyrics in every song connects with me so much. I usually don't like such intense music but I love this band 🤟
I want to frame this comment. This is exactly what I want to hear!
New favorite director. 😁 Guys this was awesome, congratz.
Amazing song, insane drumming
Dave looks like the best mix of Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins and it makes this even better
I wish they were my dads
@@TheVivesLives Man... You may be one of few that can sing Buckley & Cornell.
I'm in love with 'Salamander'
Need more. Please.
Best from Barcelona
If gold could be heard!
Omgoodness!!!!! This is friggin beautiful!!!!

Really good JP! Adds a lot to the song.

i've listening the song for weeks and always thoguth that the singer was a girl... great song dudes!

@@TheVivesLives This song and album are so good, I need more!
This is like some amazing reincarnation of Jeff Buckley.
He's my unofficial dad and my biggest idol
1:15 - 1:50 damn so intense
🆗
Reminds me of Jeff Buckley, the great
Got here because Courtney Swain won't shut up about you. Now I see why :)
Hahahah and I can't shit up about Courtney Swain
what happened to the girl?
What girl?
@@TheGrundigg the girl who sang. her name escapes me still.
looking through previous videos, her name is courtney, and it seems like she's in another band called bent knee.

Cheer up for fuck sake.
If Jesus Christ doesn't exist then who's playing on drums here?
Eh, more medium rare.
Love the music guys. But I don't like that much your new singer. Sounds odd to me. But keep up with the good work.
