I finished it just before the ceremony started and it was my favorite out of the three that I was able to read. So happy for Tess Gunty! The rabbit hutch it's so beautiful and rare at the same time, I think it explains hot every person is a whole different, strange and unique universe and how all of them converge to a certain point. Loved it!
I don’t really know much about the National Awards, but the fact that they look for new or undiscovered authors definitely puts this on my radar. Sometimes you need a prize that defies the expectation
Thanks for watching the ceremony for all of us who did not and for giving us this great run-down. Just wondered if anyone mentioned or paid tribute to Salman Rushdie during the evening. I hope so!
None of the fiction books really pulled me in. In part, I think I was still a bit stunned by the longlist having so many unknown books/authors. (Was it 8 out of 10?) I had been more drawn to the translated list. I still want to read Tawada’s book, but I was hugely disappointed by Schweblin’s book. I’m apparently in the minority on that, though. You’ve reminded me that I want to finish listening to Night of the Living Rez by the end of the year. I was having quite a difficult time with it, based on the first three stories I read, but I do want to get back to it as you and others have loved it so much. Glad you enjoyed the show!
I'm about 120 pages in, and I really like it so far. Wanted to finish before the winner was announced, but life got in the way. Nice to be reading the winner!
Off topic but down the mustache! Looks good ! Not that you need my approval or that the stash’s bad looking ! Ha! The only one you read- that’s pretty cool. Blahdiggityblah, thank youuu for this ( and all your videos)! Xoxo

That's a very good and interesting read of The Rabbit Hutch.

That is definitely one of the things that makes the National Book Award a fun prize to follow!

They did not mention Salman Rushdie as far as I remember.
Haven't read Rabbit Hutch yet but it sounds so good! Glad it won!
It's definitely a book that sits with you.

That has only happened to me once and I felt so fancy. Enjoy it! I’m glad you’re liking the book, too.
Just finished it. I liked the book. However some parts felt like they dragged on. Took me a while to finish the book.
I’m glad you liked it!
I think I'm still most interested in The Town of Babylon, but maybe I should get over whatever is putting me off The Rabbit Hutch and give it a go.
It's a bit of a tricky book to get into but I liked it.
The Rabbit Hutch was the only one I had read, too, and I'm still unsure how I feel about it.
I can definitely see how a reader wouldn't respond to it but the longer I sit with it the more I like it.
