Once I took some meds (legal ones) and my vision went full 1969 police training video. I'm not joking, for about 20~30 hours my vision was like when you press your fingers when you're rubbing your eyes, and then look at something, that quick "pulsating mess" was what I saw for that period, and this video reminds me of that lol.
So after exposed breasts, nearly running over two people on the beach, not seeing anything, nearly getting run over in the parking lot and Arnie's story ends up with him getting decapitated by a tractor trailer. Not your typical police video I see.

Actually back in 69 they did teach you to drive in the center of the road, especially in rural areas. Still did that in 75 when I took drivers ed in Indiana. Sometimes I still do it without thinking out in the country. The idea being you could make a sudden move to avoid something and not run off the road. It was fine before the country got so crowded on the roads that it became more hazardous than staying in your own lane.
I was a Sheriff's Deputy for 3 and a half years and I can say that this video and the last one you showed would have been such a help.
I love how he is talking about how it's some of the biggest PDs in the US and misses my home town of Amarillo Texas...

It is, my local radio station used to play clasic radio dramas after 11pm on Friday nights... The Shadow was one of the regulars.... and that was in the 90s....
I remember this one as well. It was pretty common for police training films to show boobs. It was the quickest way to keep the trainees focused and to keep them from falling asleep.
Training was generally very dry and scheduled with complete disregard to anyone's sleep or work schedule. We were treated to a mandatory 40 hours of training each year during the summer. We were still required to attend court for our cases, and put in our regular shifts if we were on swings or graveyards.
There was a very limited supply of training films available...

Down here in southern NM I started with my small town PD. All of the training films we watched were from the 70s. This was in 1993!
I wonder how many traumatized cops in 1969 have this training video lingering in their subconscious...

I was in the Academy a year ago. The Chief Instructor was in his 90s. He made us watch "Defensive Driving" one or two times a week, and then we had to write 500 word essays about what we learned from watching it.
I finished the academy in August of 2020, and the oldest instructor we had was a retired chief in his mid seventies. That 90 something instructor was a man from a whole different era, I'm sure he had some unique, old school perspectives!

Showed this to my dad and he said he probably watched this back in his youth. (He's 75 now). He also said driving a car nowadays isn't like it was when he went through depot (RCMP) in 1965. He drove and early 60's Ford Fairlane with power nothing, drum brakes, bias-ply tires with the stiffness of a whoopie cushion, winter tires did almost nothing and the suspension back in those days was basically just springs. Also there were no seatbelts in the cars. So yeah. You didn't have distractions but you had to focus a lot more while driving because the cars were a mess, and even a minor fender-bender almost always resulted in death. He spent a large percentage of his career pulling bodies off of steering columns because people used to get impaled a lot back in those days.
Also, he almost drove over a dead guy one time. When he was approaching the guy, it was on a hill, in the snow. The car wasn't stopping so well, and the call had come in that the person in the road was most likely dead, but they weren't 100% sure. Anyway he said it was a bit of a white knuckle situation as he prayed that the Dodge Polara that he was driving at that point, would stop before the guy went under the front, secondary prayer being that if the car didn't stop in time hopefully the guy was already dead. Anyway, car did come to a stop, about 6 in from the guy, and when he got out sure enough it was a dead guy and he'd been out there for quite some time (it was about 4:00 in the morning) so he was frozen stiff. But yeah, long story short, he hated those old cars.
I think the actor who played Arnie is Joe Mantell. He was in one of my favorite Twilight Zone episodes "Nervous Man in a 4 Dollar Room". He also played along side Jack Nicholson in Chinatown, where he uttered the famous last line, "Forget it Jake, it's Chinatown" What he was doing in this little disaster is beyond me. He was actually a very good actor. Just FYI
If this was filmed in 1969, Mantell would have been 54 years old. Not impossible, but unlikely.

2100, dark, nobody on the road and I'm cruising 75+ on the road, not pushing my luck too much.
In the next 10 to 15 seconds, IROC Z with lights blows by me doing 150mph or more...passed me at 75+ like I was standing still.
The dang car rocks like a hurricane went by...and the lights disappeared in 30 seconds over a hill miles away.
