    Hey everyone. First of all, thanks for watching. Secondly.... to save you all time, I'm well aware of my mispronounciation of "Petrichor". 🤣 I recently watched something and had someone say it that way and it accidentally stuck. Lol. Anyway... thanks so much for being here!

    • @sherit8594
      @sherit8594 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No one's perfect 😜 you're doing just fine. I have a question though, you had said that you were having issues with your wick holders. The link below your video I believe is a different product than what you're using in this video. I need what you're using to sort of "lock" the wick because recently mine have been "bending/bowing" during cure 😬
      Please help me out 🥺

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@sherit8594 The ones i am using in this video are 12 years old and that company went out of business about 6 years ago. I did like them... but the new ones I use now i like better. Fast to use and hold the wick great. They may "look" like the typical wick holder but they are not. They have this gradual "v" that holds the wick very well. and they fit the jars perfectly. The ones in the video you have to get lucky if they fit well or not. Lol. But anyway, the reason I dont like those in the video as... the place is gone. You might be able to find randomly online but not sure where.

      @sherit8594 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlackTieBarn 😫 Ugh...the hunt is officially on! I clicked the link and watched their video on "How to" and realized they don't lock. That's when I knew they weren't the same. Alright, I really appreciate your response and I'll keep you posted if I can find some similar ☺️ Enjoy the rest of your day!

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sherit8594 I am not sure what you mean by "lock" but i can tell you the ones i use now lock/hold the wick just as good as these. I wouldn't choose anything that was a downgrade. And I've tried probably 3 dozen kinds this year. Lol. but i also understand we also have something specific we are looking for. Hope you find something similar and right size

      I've been doing this "candle making" since 1997. Just wish I would have held on to what worked best as opposed to ditching for something I thought was better.

    I have recently decided to try my hand at candle making as a side job. I am still in the investigating/learning stage (haven't even tried my first candle yet😳). I just wanted to say how amazing your videos are!!! I realize how much work goes into them and I value having them to guide me in the process. These are so well made and easy to follow....better than ANY other tutorial videos that I have ever watched! No joke. I am watching all of your vids before I jump, but I feel a lot more confident with your shared knowledge base behind me! Really appreciate your videos. Loved the small pot you used! it's perfect for testing. I was given lots of bees wax from a beekeeper I knew. Naturally sweet smelling, but I have struggled with wicks. I also use tins because they're not as weighty as glass and they stack perfectly. I have tested a variety of waxes to blend with the bees wax, using the 4oz and the 16oz tins. Still not completely satisfied with the results. Hope you try bees wax on some of your videos. I like the tins and was especially interested in how you measured scents for a small volume of wax. Those bottles are not very forgiving because I vhave spilled fragrance while measuring. Recently made 12 6 Oz lavender candles when I intended to make 10. Current wicks on hand is eco -10 and eco - 12 which both are good for using with 464 soy wax. Planning on selling the candles as a craft until I can get enough to start labeling. I purchased a calligraphy pen just for fun to try and customize my labels.

      And noooo! And I had watched so many videos and researched for days and days. I had become so into it it took up every single part of my day. I was DONE! I had done thrown four notebooks down on my desk in these notebooks have so much information but nothing was making sense to me. And then got on TH-cam and a specific video of yours popped up…me and my OCD (legit diagnosed) wouldn’t let me pass this video. There’s not many people that want to share or be helpful. The whole time I wasn’t looking for someone to do all the work for me because I understand the amount of work that goes into this but you gave me a starting point. a very good starting point. I purchased what I needed. I did have to go up a wicked size maybe once or twice, I left them cure for 2 weeks. I lit these bad boys up… and after a few minutes I thought this smell OK very nice and then a few more minutes I realized I just created a candle that I would purchase over and over again. I just made these candles that I am beyond excited more than proud to gift someone. So yes this was you… Maybe a little me but this was you!!! ♥️

    Hello. I have been making candles since last year and so far I have sold them over 100 candles😊 but now I want to change something like I was using eco wicks so now I want to try cotton wicks for 3.5 inch tins like of fancy tins. So do you recommend cotton wicks for 3.5 inch diameter. Please reply soon. Also do you think double wicks works better for 3.5inch or one wicks is good too. I’m doing both single and double wicks in same tins.

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      3.5" diameter is a tough size. If single wicking is proving tough, definitely ty double wick. Eco put cotton is fine. Depends on wax and your preference.
      And I do my best to respond when I can. Always super busy but I'm usually quite responsive

    Hey!! I use the CandleScience round 8ox tin which shows to be 3.125" across.. IGI 6006 wax, 8oz fragrance load, brown die. I have REALLY struggled getting a good Hot Throw. my test customers say they can't really smell it. Trying to hone in the wicking.. I have gone up as far as ECO10 which is probably over wicked. I have some LX22 and LX24's. Have HTP's and Zinc Cores.. Any suggestions on a direction for wicking in this size tin and IGI6006 wax?

    • @BlackTieBarn

      It depends. Mine didn't because the ones I jaf were a bit shorter. I imagine the ones the templates are designed for would wrap most or all the way.

    If my vessel is 8oz and I know it will hold 7.5oz, should my calculations be based on the 7.5ozs?. Also, where's the best place to learn about wood wick sizing? I'd like to learn more about how the number system works. Thanks!

    Thank you so much for this awesome video. I just have a quick question about the labels. What label material did you use. It has that nice sheen to it. Also, if printing labels yourself, what type of printer do you recommend? I have perfected my candles but I can’t seem to get the labels to look the way I want because of the material I’m printing on I guess. They just don’t look sleek and professional. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Question: Wade how many pouring pitchers do you use when making your candles and I've seen in other videos that you just wipe them clean with a papertowel. When I try and do this I feel like some of my FO residue gets left behind. Any suggestions on how to clean in between FO's or do you just use separate pitchers? Thank you in advance for your response. Great video as always.

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Debra, sorry I missed this before. Some comments just get buried. I just clean the hot wax out, use heat gun to reheat if necessary. And occasionally use alcohol or mineral oil if I think it needs a bit more cleaning. But you are often going to still smell a bit of the prevous scent, it doesn't transfer though. Give it a good wipe down hot and you are fine.

    • @BlackTieBarn
      @BlackTieBarn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Candle science liquid dyes. Although there are lots of good dyes. I tested these the next day. Again, though, keep in mind these were to try out the tins more than anything. It would take longer to dial in the right wick type/size etc.
