I think parts were dubbed but he made an attempt at others. He did this quite a bit on his show-goes to random countries and makes minor cameos on their soaps.
and it is so easy! I've tried to learn french, german, japanese, old english and taglog. None of these languages resonates like gaeilge! Just remember VSO and you are always ready to go
To those that know Irish, how well did he do? As someone who knows zero Irish, it didn’t seem terrible to me but I also know zero Irish. It seemed better than when he was on that kdrama and tried to speak korean.
@@rosnarun96 Thank you for doing this - out of interest, was Conan's pronounciation etc any good? I wasn't sure it if was something he just learned phonetically or if he was more advanced than that
As an Irish person I wish I could say I knew what was being said here but I honestly have no idea. I feel like I have more in common with Americans like Conan than the people who live in gaeltachts lol.
Unlikely you're very familiar with TG4 - mainly access for music, documentaries...many world-class. Besides the TG4 Player is also outstanding, far better than RTE Player which has improved somewhat but access from outside Ireland absolute shite for years.
What a thoughtless comment. The only reason English is so widely spoken is due to colonisation, or being forced to assimilate. That doesn't make English any better than other languages. There is no such thing as one language being better than another - we should celebrate the diversity in the way people speak, and admire the linguistic similarities and differences between us. It teaches us so much about history or why we have common words. I think Welsh and Irish sound much more beautiful than English.
@@monamohamed6871 I wasn’t trying to say any language is better than the other, its just how it is. If you’re a kid in school now in ireland or wales is your learning time more effectively used learning english and spanish or english and welsh/gaelic. Thats what it boils down to really and why languages die out, is it going to benefit (socially/financially) you to learn it. I get trains every week with welsh announcements as the primary announcement even though i’m in england which I find crazy as the train journey ends before entering wales
The English language has killed many other languages and cultures. But it hasn't killed Irish yet, and there seem to be enough people who refuse to speak someone else's mother tongue. Perhaps there's something to pride?
There are benefits to bilingualism, principally that kids who are exposed to it in school are proven to have a better aptitude for critical thinking and also find it easier to learn foreign languages. Learning Irish in school definitely helped me with the likes of French and German.
Even in the Irish language, they still insult Conan for being a Ginger.😂
That's an Emmy award performance right there for Conan! 😄
Is that you, Conan?

@@splorticussuii3303 No, it wasn't dubbed. They showed how it was done on the show. They had cue cards that gave the pronunciation of each word.
Conan nailed the role of sexy delivery man 😂😂
Colin will be disappointed.
I should report that comment.
Delivery man or sexy for a ginger - thank you!
I love how he kind of struggled getting out the door 😂
Ah that was so cool!
And being so careful on the way in too, not to burst or lose any.

impressive use of Irish by Conan
It's not we were colonised by England and red heads were meant to blend in and nkt exist in their own right.
Conan's method reminds me a little of the scene in Pee Wee's Big Adventure where Pee Wee has a small part in his own biopic.
