Bart D. Ehrman is the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He came to UNC in 1988, after four years of teaching at Rutgers University. At UNC he has served as both the Director of Graduate Studies and the Chair of the Department of Religious Studies. A graduate of Wheaton College (Illinois), Professor Ehrman received both his Masters of Divinity and Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary, where his 1985 doctoral dissertation was awarded magna cum laude.

if Craig Evans writes a book "Beating around the bush for Dummies", it will become a bestseller
That's exactly what I thought he was doing, lol
HOLY CRAP. These are two PhD scholars. Show some dang respect. Craig Evans and Bart Ehrman are world renowned and have done so much work in their field. The amount of work done by these two gentlemen goes beyond what any of us could have done in a lifetime. I hate seeing the disrespect done to these two men in TH-cam comments.
I hope I'm not insulting used car salesmen by saying Evan's would make a great used car salesman.
I seriously believe that in time,(probably not in my life-time) they will discover a genetic predisposition to believing in things without logic. And it's this pre curser that will be linked to most if not all of religion. How else can such a large population of humanity believe in things that only a lunatic could believe on their own. Bart you have changed my life and I thank you deeply for that. You've allowed me to connect all of the dots when questioning my faith
It sounds ridiculous to make statements about Evans or even Ehrman. Both are brilliant scholars but with different perspectives and views.
Ive never seen as much tap dancing in my life...craig is the tap dance king
Holy smokes, Craig really seems like he’s trying to run out the clock with red herrings on the discussion section here.
Craig is a master on question dodging.
I can't blievee how this Dr Craig Evans can ramble on and on. or should I say dribble on and on, it"s like going round the bush and getting nowhere..........
How is Craig a scholar?
I wonder how many of Craig’s students leave his class a nonbeliever or agnostic?
Next time these guys should just asked each other questions. Makes for a more interesting debate
I thought the Q&A section was the worst part of the debate. Evans rambled on about red herrings and irrelevancies, and point-blank refused to answer simple questions. I'd rather have seen less time spent on opening statements and more time in rebuttal, perhaps a couple of rebuttals. That way only half the time would have been taken up by Evans' rambling.
Dr Ehrman, you are too polite.
Jesus challenging the temple isn't evidence of his divinity? What first-century Jew would challenge the temple if he didn't make some claim to special authority?
Magnulus76 : Even if it happened as described, how would that indicate his divinity? Martin Luther challenged the Catholic Church. What 16th century Catholic would do that? Does that mean Martin Luther is divine?
@@hardheadjarhead To compare the Catholic church to the Temple and Martin Luther to Jesus the Christ is to show ones ignorance to subject altogether....

Craig lose so badly...! By Ehrman.
Hadza.
Dr Craig Evans beating to pulp.
Hello Mr Hearman the gospels are not mere Chronologically historical book.
Rather they are written by four different writers for four different audience.
For example, Luke writes to ("Most Excellent") Theophilus. Luke begins saying : "
...That you mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein you had been instructed."
The purpose is that he wants to assure the certainty... of the things....
What you want Four gospels looks exactly the same?
That is not what Ehrman meant. He did not say that the gospels should all be the same. He said that the contradictions mean that the gospels can't all be correct on a point.
Therefore they cannot be historically accurate.
If I were a farmer and you wanted a day of my life written, I would add parts of many days to give an over view of the work and problems that arose, that as a farmer, I would have to deal with for a bigger picture of a possible day. It's for clarification, not to deceive. Yet, the story is not audio/video of a specific day, it would be actual events put into a story. The students of Christ who were illiterate(not all of them) had followers to write down events and teachings that any one who studied under the Master would know or remember. If you saw some one walk on water do you think you would recall this 10 years later? Would you forget the teaching To love your neighbor as you love yourself? God's message of salvation through Christ? I think not! God bless.
The gospels were written in a different language... Jesus and his disciples (illiterate peasants and fishermen) spoke Aramaic. The gospels were written several decades later in highly educated Greek.
Despite the thousands of gods that man has invented, none of them have yet been proven to exist. That does not prevent the followers of any of the religions that still exist from continuing to indoctrinate their children and having the deep conviction that they know the truth.
Why on earth do these doctors keep saying "lit-uh-ture"? It's "literature".
Evans chomping gum turned me off to him right off even if he had made any sense
