My AP Calculus teacher showed us this. This video actually helped me in Calculus. It was surprisingly useful. And I will show my students when I graduate in a year and a half! Late to the party but: I found Calculus Rhapsody when I was in Year 11, and thought it was the greatest thing ever (also, it taught me what integration was). 10 years on, I teach high school maths and make a point of showing it to ALL my students the second we mention calculus. You both made something really amazing!!! An important question that has bugged me forever though... when applying the chain rule, what is The Dance that we must not forget to do? I need to inflict it on all my future students!
This is such a nice message! I'm happy you're still sharing it! And the "chain rule dance" was something Phil invented in our class! We were learning the chain rule, and when our teacher was walking us through a problem on the board, he said, "And...what do we do now?" And we collectively all said, "The chain rule" in unison. As we did that, Phil did....exactly the same "dance" you see in the video. Since the video itself was a class project, we didn't really think that MILLIONS of people would see it, so we threw that joke in there to make the other kids in our class laugh.

I didn’t understand any of it but it sure helped me get ahead and know a lot of formulas. Thank you for making it. But in our Calculus class, Phil did that little shake dance on the day we learned "the product rule." And for whatever reason, that really stuck. The whole class would do it together.

In short a combination of "that little bug" and science videos. Beyond that, I laugh a lot and truly enjoyed it. Well done.

Haha, neither of us remember how to do calculus. Now, that I felt. It was decades ago when I "knew" calculus. I am not sure if I ever "knew" it. I mean, I could calculate it. But knowing how to "do" something and really understand and "get" a thing, are two pairs of shoes. However I think that what is important is to know what do do, search and use to get you where you want. And by that I mean the "theoretical" tools, not some BS political manipulative things.
