Kanuga was My first bike park experience. I liked it, but the steep face on the jumps messed Me up! The green trail was the one that gave Me the most trouble! Those little short tables with steep faces made Me think I was going over the bars!
Hey Randall! Lips on jumps can be really tough to learn and understand. It gives everyone trouble, so you're not alone! The biggest issue for us when learning jumps, especially lipped jumps, is body positioning and timing. The natural tendency when getting bucked on jumps is to want to move the body position further back on the back on the bike to counter it, but that actually is what makes it worse. The second big thing is loading the bike/suspension evenly and timing the rebounding of the bike suspension properly. There's some great videos out there that have helped me a lot with understanding this. Fluidride and GMBN have some good ones here on TH-cam! Here's a Fluidride one: th-cam.com/video/-oRjHKD8Sbk/w-d-xo.html I know you weren't asking for advice, so excuse my assumption on that end. I just know exactly how you felt out there and hoped I could offer a touch of help on the subject. Cheers!
Awesome progression man, hard work pays off. Really wish we had some progression lines like this in Chatt to work up to the confidence levels. WOM is great in all but doesnt leave you much room for resetting and learning.
I do too. WOM can be a fickle beast too. That kitty litter loose over hard bites sometimes. Definitely working towards that direction in Chatt, and I am extremely grateful for all the work that’s been done so far and super excited to see where the new SORBA board things 🤙🏼
He probably just didn’t want to get lapped by Dad! Tell him you’ll rent him one too, LOL. 😉 That experience definitely opened my eyes to the possibilities that ebikes can offer. I was honestly still pretty reluctant about the idea before hand. I was told time and time again to try to reserve judgment until I had given one a try and I can certainly see why.
@@SemiSendy Yeah I know that I would have been able to stay longer had I used the e bike, just not in the same shape as I was 20 years ago. That said what would really be nice is a ski lift. Not sure if that’s in the long term plans or not. Did riding one feel a lot heavier on jumps?
Kanuga is right around 4 hours from Chattanooga. Pisgah, Kanuga, DuPont and the Riveter are all right there. Seth’s new Berm Park should be up and running just down the road from there sometime in 2021. We’ve got great things happening in Chattanooga too! I’ve been hard at work helping out with an awesome new public gravity park on Signal mountain, which will be known as Walden’s Ridge Park.
How long does it take to walk or pedal to the top? I'm thinking about planning a trip here. Also, those jumps look so forgiving... Do you think someone with low jumping skill could hit those? :-D
That’s a tough one to answer only because it’s very subjective. I’d say if your comfortable on tabletops in the 8’ range the opening sequence on Tortuga should feel really good. The step up isn’t hard and it is really forgiving to case, just requires speed to clear. It’s maybe 25’ish to clear, but you could go only a few feet or even roll it no issues. Tortuga is a lower session line, so it’s only about a 5 minute climb from the bottom. All the way up is 20min conservatively.
Collin Taplin are you the guy in the pic? I wasn’t sure how to find you so I tagged Kolo in the whipoff/slalom video I posted on insta that this still is taken from. 🤙🏼
Awesome riding with ya over the weekend! Great job on the progression !
Such a blast, my man! Let's get out and shred more.

Hell yeah, looks like so much fun! Going to try to get a trip in before winter.
Well worth it! I've been back a few times already and it never gets old.
Saw that guy Hunter my first weekend at Kanuga (beginning of Aug) and he was getting steezy. Saw him again this past weekend there.
He's a great guy, and can throw down! :)
Great video, this was a lot of fun to watch!
Thanks, BlindstuffMTB! I think I've actually seen everyone of your episodes on your channel. Long time fan.
@@SemiSendy awww, Stefano is a great guy. Just don't go to Pisgah with him. You'll end up in the worst thunderstorm of your LIFE! Haha
Looks like an amazing time, adding Kanuga to the wishlist.
Absolutely one for the list. You'll love it.

How’d you like the Decoy? I have a Decoy Shred on order.
It was nice. Is the shred the mullet version? That’s what I demo’d
Semi-Sendy yea, mullet with the 38 and coil shock.
John Corbett nice. Sounds like the most ideal build for sure. Maximum downhill fun 🤘
Semi-Sendy another great vid btw👍🏻
John Corbett thank you kindly!
what santa cruz is that looks like a hightower? the blue one at the start
That is the HTv2! She’s still in my stable, coming up on two years now.
Just bought me a dirt jumper I’m ready to try some jumps like this senddddd it

25-30 minutes if your not in the best shape, like me 😁

I need to learn to jump😇
I’ll admit it’s kinda fun floating through the air. Worth learning for sure!
That guy skidding in front of you is messing up the trails 😑
