Keep saying wow!!!! 🤩…Mine arrived today!!!…but my wife said I have to wait till tomorrow to open it…its her birthday gift for me since Tomorrow its my birthday 🎉
I bought my panda today, after this beautiful video, as far as I know... there were 4 Swiss columns that manufactured clocks... and seagul bought the design of one of them if I'm not mistaken (Venus 175). Thank you for your sincerity in talking about this beautiful piece!
I like the 40mm version without the 6 and 12, shame it comes on a croc strap though, so if I ever pull the trigger it will defo get an immediate strap upgrade. Such great looking watches for so little money!
Superb review. Most insightful and comprehensive. Really helpful too. Thank you. With this watch, I think the Seagull 63 finally came of age. The watch has long been recognised as a classic. But, maybe, it wasn't so loveable... For me, the Sugess Chronometer looks like the finished product. Yes, a truly beautiful design. And one for the Ages. (I hope Sugess realise this)
Excellent little watch! I've got the "standard" 1963 but panda is also great. Like the star shaped counterbalance of the second hand, the red tip as well as the red tachymeter script!
Cheers. Thanks. I have the same colour coming in a 40mm. This thing is going to be a total strap monster and I am a total strap monkey (I have loads). It'll look great with anything. I think you could even stick this on an orange NATO and it would come out looking fantastic. I'm looking forward to seeing it on a slightly vintage looking, rustic, reddish tanned leather. (My cheaper Corgeut, black dial, Speedmaster homage, that I don't wear much now, is a strap monster, too and looks great with anything, including that reddish kind of leather, too).
I was thinking about getting this one. It is actually on my ali express cart! After watching your review I am definitely getting it. If my wife has any issues with the purchase, I will re-direct her to you! 😅
Great review! I’ve got a 38mm Sugess of my own. I find the gap between the strap and the watchcase a little big (basically the lug holes are a little far down, making the lugs look really long). Wondering if you’ve come across any better-fitting straps / solutions to this problem?
About 40 winds....not sure how many revolutions of the crown that is, but I'd say close to 40. You'll feel it tighten up. Just don't force it. Once you feel it firm up, just stop
Mine came on a bracelet with deployment clasp. I think it is the 40mm. Unfortunately the end links don’t integrate with the lugs and case very well. It looks good on the black leather in the video.
Seems to be fine for me. Haven't had any issues with the 3 I currently have in the collection but I haven't owned one for "years". About a year now is the longest I've had one
Dude ,why do you have only 2k subs? One of the best reviews I ve ever seen ,and I found you because I just ordered this watch ,although I may overpay ... 229 $ on E bay ,it is 40mm and free shipping though ,and it has swan neck ,guess it s okay :) Also thanks for pointing out that minutes hand is too long ,and that 12 o'clock marker is crooked :D I could live without knowing that :D
Haha, thanks for the compliments. $229 isn't a bad price, but AliExpress is your friend. Great deals can be had there during some sale. Stick around and I'll get you spending even more money and pointing out things that'll make your OCD go crazy (like mine 😂)
I just received this watch that I got during the 11.11 sale. Overall, it's beautiful and it's a nice watch for the price. However, one thing that is really bothering me, is that the chronometer hand doesn't line up with the 0 position (12 o'clock). It sits right in the middle of 0 and 1s. I mean, I get it, it's not the most expensive mechanical chronograph out there, and there are some things I can live with at this price point, but damn, if you are going to make a chronograph, better be sure that the chronograph hand lines up at 0, since the point of a chronograph is to record the exact time. Kinda bummed about this and I'm not really sure what to do, or if there even is something I can do. I know that shipping it back to China with tracking is not worth the cost...
@@EscapeWheel Didn't know it was easily fixable, even though getting it fixed might cost close top the price of the watch LOL! Within tolerances??? They can say whatever they want, but for me at least, a chronograph that doesn't start at 0 is not doing its job properly. Thanks for the reply.
@@EscapeWheel I've been playing with the watch and found something interesting. If I start the chronograph and stop it early, like at 5 or 10s, when I reset it the hand is in between the 0 and 1s mark as I mentioned before. If I stop it towards the end of the minute, at around 50 or 55s, then when I reset it, the hand is perfectly at 0s, so it seems like when the chronometer is stopped early, there is not enough inertia in the movement to put the hand back in place. I am not a watch expert, but this seems to indicate poor tolerances in the movement (which I would be somewhat OK given the price). What do you think?
Okay, I have about the same size wrist as you and the 38mm looks too small for my tastes. Annoying the the 40mm doesn't have the star on the seconds hand because I really like that. They're not offering the 40mm in the cream dial either...I'm just striking out all over the place. I will have to keep this one on the back burner for definitely a 'maybe' if I can find the configuration I want in that mountain of AliExpress offerings.
Have you seen their latest version with cream dial, black subdials, and "bolt" Chrono seconds hand? Looks fantastic IMO. But yeah, I agree, the 38mm has the better configurations but the 40mm is probably the one I'd buy if I had to do it over again.
@@EscapeWheel I've seen the 'bolt' second hand on other watches but not this one yet. That might be interesting. So many different vendors are selling them it makes for quite a hunt. I've been wanting to add a chronograph and I've narrowed it down to one of these or a Seiko Flightmaster. I really like the look of these though and in the end I'll probably get both...lol
I'm starting to feel like that as well. Not getting much wrist time and size may be the reason, also got an Alpha Chrono....so maybe that has something to do with it as well
As if didn't have enough watches already bought this poor's man's Hamilton intra matic and must say this is a great watch everyone who likes a pilots watch should have one in their collection..but buy a nice band to upgrade the look to high end luxury edition .

Yep, never really liked the champagne dial on the original 63. I am very happy with this panda colorway

Really liking how it looks on the rally leather strap
Thanks to another TH-camr for the strap. It really looks great on this one.
Really great and detailed review. Might pull the trigger on this soon...

Maybe just a pass through strap. Thicker straps will help as well. Thankfully it doesn't bother me like I thought it might.
Rubber straps will make it. The thicker the better.
Exactly my issue. I think the design is intentional, so unfortunate nonetheless.
very nice and thorough review! keep doing this pal!
Starting to really dig the look of this one. It'd be near perfect if it had some brushing on the front of the case.
Check out the Merkur/FOD/Pierre Paulin Chronos....similar style, I believe they are the same case as well, but with brushed tops to the lugs.
Has the 38mm V3 version been released subsequent to this one? Thank you.
Its a fantastic watch for sure!!!
how many turns does it usually take to fully wound the watch (ST19)?
About 40 winds....not sure how many revolutions of the crown that is, but I'd say close to 40. You'll feel it tighten up. Just don't force it. Once you feel it firm up, just stop
I have two of these, they are absolutely amazing for the money.
Really really don’t like gaps between case and straps, the best strap would be integrated so you don’t see your arm peeking through.
Mine came on a bracelet with deployment clasp. I think it is the 40mm. Unfortunately the end links don’t integrate with the lugs and case very well. It looks good on the black leather in the video.
Yeah I've heard the bracelet isn't that great.
You said it’s not your first ST19. How’s the reliability been over the years?
Seems to be fine for me. Haven't had any issues with the 3 I currently have in the collection but I haven't owned one for "years". About a year now is the longest I've had one
The crown on this watch got bent and fell of after a month of use of this watch... Did anyone else had this problem?

A easy fix for a watchmaker. I'm sure the OEM and Ali would say that's withing tolerance and you'd get nothing for it

basically a copy of the Breitling premier b01 and that's a good thing lol

I will never fault hands for being too long....in a sea of short hands, I'll take it 🤣

nice, but so poor quality. Mine stops working after of few weeks of using it
Sorry to hear that. mine's still running strong.
I really like it. Is it a "real" brand, or just another Chinese knock-off, cash grabbing fake brand with stolen designs?
"Review" without a single demonstration of a chronograph functionality....
