    Started it and it's not as loud as I was expecting it and has Auto, Turbo and Eco modes.
    Auto is powerful enough and turbo can actually pull a thinner carped up so auto would be the main way to use this.
    Also the locking button, I keep it in locked mode so I press the start button once and release to start it and press once and release to stop it.
    No need to continuously press the power button that way.

    Great review! You're probably the only one that shows actual real life usage of it, most other reviewers, just show unboxing, parts and very little of it being used and with easy stuff. Thank you also for comparing to a typical corded vacuum cleaner!
    Your video is the one that actually convinced me that it worth spending 100€ more for this model G11 as opposed to the G10.

    I'm interested in how close to objects can the head brush actually pick up dirt - can it suck from the sides? Also, is the filter effective? There seemed to be some fine dust around the motor intake when you took out the filter...

    I purchased mine 1 year and 5 months ago and it suddenly started to make a weird noise while on. It's a sound as if its reaaaally trying. The Xiaomi shop didn't repaired it. 😢

    Which part that you review eco mode noise?

    • @IONHowTo
      @IONHowTo  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Eco mode is really weak. I keep it in auto and it bumps the power up when it detects more dirt coming in.

    Good review, thanks. It seems the rotating head brush is too aggresive for carpets and can damage them, also its anti-tangle system did not work very well in your test. I think this vacuum deserves better head.

    • @IONHowTo
      @IONHowTo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, the head is too hard for thinner carpets.
      I imagine on thick carpets it should be better but this is a real world test.
      On tiles it works perfectly, gathering stuff even when the floor looks clean.
      The cutting system was not as good as I imagined.

    • @vixiki

      To be fair, who vacuums a carpet at the boundary like that - I always step on it and pull the vacuum from the middle towards the side of the carpet so it does not get sucked in... What I'm interested in is, does it do carpets as well as a bagged vacuum?

    • @IONHowTo
      @IONHowTo  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vixiki I could only compare it to the corded vacuum we have.
      It gathers everything from all the way to the edges - shown in the videos.
      For normal thick carpets, the brush head should work even better than a classic vacuum cleaner that only uses air suction.
      The filters work well and are washable but you would have to be careful so they are locked-in correctly to how their slots.
      It works well and any cordless is really convenient.

    I believe ure supposed to remove that foam from the HEPA filter

    • @IONHowTo
      @IONHowTo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The foam is part of the filter system. They are both washable but have to be super dry before use - 24h dry time warning on it.

    Since this was such an informative video review, and affected my purchase decision (I did buy the G11), I'd like to add my, independent little review, and hope that ION leaves it here.
    1. The Design. Yes, this is one of the best designed (one could even argue, overdesigned) vacuums. That said, with use, it will get dirty (because it is the bagless sort) and scratched (if you go near walls, as one does with a vacuum). I dropped mine right after purchase, when I was looking for a place to hang it, and cracked the clear plastic on the mite head. It fell on tiles and the crack is fairly minor, which attests to the quality of the plastics/build. That said, the plastics of the brush head are hard, which means there'll be scratches on both your furniture, and your vacuum.
    2. Quality of vacuuming. I was very pleasantly surprised by how well it vacuums fitted carpets and heavy mats. The rotating brush does wonders and the only limitation is the tiny collection bin, which I have to empty three times per run (limited by battery to about 30 minutes). Tiles and other smooth surfaces are absolutely no problem for the vacuum. The suction power is also great, as is the power auto-adjusting feature. No problems here.
    3. Battery life. I have about 65 sq.m. of fitted carpet upstairs and about 100 sq. m. of smooth tile and cork tiles downstairs. The battery lasts about 30 minutes, which barely lets me do a complete run - either I'll have to buy another battery, or split my vacuuming to two jobs, upstairs and downstairs. All in all, the battery lasts much shorter than I would like. It charges in about 3 hours which is a long time if you have a cleaning day, so you need to plan accordingly.
    4. The bagless concept. This, I absolutely hate. Many years ago I came to the conclusion that bagless vacuums were complete and utter bullshit, pardon the word. They are messy, the filters get clogged up, and if you had no dust allergies before, you will now, because you'll breathe in the cloud of dust as you empty the can into the trash. My bagged vacuums are totally clean, the s-bag can be pulled out without a speck of dust leaving the vacuum and the HEPA filter clean for months/years on end. I would definitely complement this modern toy with a proper bagged vacuum for the serious work (let alone workshop). Also, I mentioned that the can of the G11 is ridiculously small (for my needs). If it were 3x bigger, I would not mind. Also, fine dust and debris quickly gets out of the lower portion and starts clogging the metal mesh, in which case you'll have to wash everything, get even dirtier, and as per manufacturer's instructions, wait 24 hours to let it all dry out (in the sun, no less). Design compromises, I guess.
    As a verdict, the only feature I like is the rotary head and the suction power. If I could wake up and have a corded, bagged vacuum with the same suction power and a rotary head, I would not hesitate in an instant. The Xiaomi will be relegated to the upstairs carpeted rooms from now on, with its own dedicated air-tight waste-bin.
    EDIT: The hair-cutting feature on the rotary brush works fairly well for me - it just needs time (vacuuming) to pick up the cut-up hair and tangled strings. Of course, some of it will still remain on the brushes themselves, but overall, I'm happy with how the little knives in the brush work.
    EDIT2: I've had this vacuum for a day and did two full runs of the house with it (with a children's party in between), so although my conclusions need to be taken with a grain of salt, I can already see where this vacuum will probably not last the 20 years that my other one did (and still does)...

    • @IONHowTo
      @IONHowTo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow thanks for sharing your experience!
      If it was up to my we would not buy it at all and keep using the corded vacuum cleaner.
      Corded and bag less is ok for me.
      Main reason to have any cordless is convenience. It's why we were looking for it.
      Convenience but also similar or same suction power as the corded one.
      We don't have carpets other than 2 small ones and foam mats but I would choose to use this on carpets with the power brush and use a corded one in heavy duty areas.
      Be very careful with the motor.
      If it catches on some plastic part that could block the suction in Turbo - it will pull it harder and the motor blades could break.
      I'm not sure if our first one broke because of that or it was just bad but hope you saw the motor video.
      Being careful, it works well.

    • @vixiki
      @vixiki ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IONHowTo Thank you for the warning. I noticed that the brushhead will try to rotate harder before stopping if it encounters a jam. It would be great if one could switch off the motor in the brush - that way one could pick up plastic pieces or vacuum the edges of lightweight mats. I also added a note to my mini-review saying that I'm pleased with the hair cutting-up feature on the brush.

    • @IONHowTo
      @IONHowTo  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vixiki the brush motor didn't break - was always stopping if tangled.

      I remember comparing samsung and xiaomi as the lightest ones in the shop on an actual scale with battery installed and was the lowest. Dyson ones were the same. Approx 1.6 kg official spec weight but if you add the extension and carped brush with battery id does get heavy as the others do too.
