My YT subscriptions went from mostly natural hair content, to barely any. Most of the people I followed definitely switched it up and started doing daily vlogs, travel, fashion, etc. and any time there was hair content, it was a silk press or weave install. None of that content is appealing to me, and it’s not why I followed those people originally. I understand wanting to diversify content, but a lot of people just completely abandoned their natural hair content. I also noticed the lack of kinky hair as the content switched to luxury and lifestyle. It reminds me of that panel of ladies talking about “Don’t bring your natural hair to my event.” It’s still not seen as special or “appropriate” for special occasions. That’s why I love actress Teyonah Parris. when she was on Mad Men, she showed up to EVERY red carpet event with natural hair, and SLAYED.
$1000 to have the most BORING, common and typical hairstyle that every other hair hat looks like. They claim straight weave us versatile but end up having the same hairstyle over and over, looking like clones of each other. The obsession black women have with straight hair is a deep sickness.
@@micahrose7566 we can no longer blame the media. This is a choice. We actually see more representation of natural hair in media than ever before. I see tons of commercials with women who are wearing afros, braids, and even locs. We live in a time where we have an abundance of choices to help manage our natural hair. There are no more excuses.
Many of these natural hair influencers are the reason black women believe their hair is too difficult to manage. They were the ones getting paid to promote us a new product every week. Now theae same influencers have straightened their hair and are lifestyle influencers now and we are left with black women who are 'product junkies" and believe it should take 10 steps to wash and style their hair. The influencers are the problem. The black women who went natural for a bag, ruined the natural hair movement. Now they're moving on to being wig and lifestyle influencers. They're grifters. Black women need to stop listening to influencers about your hair and go to a cosmetologist and book a consultation.
So I paid about $1000 for my sisterlocks installation, but that’s on my REAL hair. So I will invest the $ but for long term quality. 2 years in and it’s the best money I’ve ever spent.
I find it weird that they spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on wigs and bundles but say natural hair products cost too much … and the lady that responded in her comments saying “yall don’t invest in your hair and it shows” why would we spend that much money to invest in some hair that’s not ours fr 💁🏽♀️ yall can buy products to invest in your natural hair to get it to the lengths you desire, I bet your natural hair would be just as long as the wigs yall like to buy if you invested $1000 in NHP instead
I think that the hair style appears to be worth $1,000 when you factor in the cost of the hair & the stylist's time & expertise. However, I'm not investing $1,000 in a hair style.
I will never pay 1k$ for any type of hairstyle. Especially not a wig or a sew in. 1k is enough to buy all the hair products I need for 10 years. I am anti wig/weave/sew-in (especially with non type 4 looking hair). But I understand the naturalistas that get them. Sometimes you just need a change. And if it involves asian hair extensions or becoming a straight natural, so be it. What is left to do when you have done 50-11 wash and go videos, or 50-11 hair products reviews ? It must be tiring. I think most natural hair influencers have become lifestyle influencers, sprinkling some natural hair content here and there. When you’ve done everything to your hair and you’ve tested all the products or hair tools, there’s not much left to say. The hair companies pay well for minimum effort. And honestly black women are on top of this hair game. Not one other race is as versatile and creative when it comes to hairstyles. I give black American women their props because they are the trend setters. Whatever they do to their hair, the rest of the black African diaspora will follow.
I agree it’s not for me and though I prefer wigs and weave that match out coily hair personally I understand people want versatility when it comes to their hair and yes black American women definitely put a lot of the hairstyles a lot of women enjoy today on the map with their creativity for sure🤎🤎🤎
I was contacted by a wig brand asking me to peddle their wigs on Instagram…I have sister locks-no color or extensions. I politely declined😂😂😂. Makes no sense.
It's sad for me to see a lot of the natural hair influencer I was looking up to turning into lifestyle influencer and "straight naturals" 😕 they barely do products reviews and natural hair related content. I'm happy they diversified their content but they stopped what we were watching them for in the beginning. And a thousand dollar for a wig? No I'm sorry 😭 and you're right. It's weird that for them to show "luxury" and "soft life" the have to wear wights or their hair straight. What icks me the most it's when those same natural hair influencers are saying that having their hair straight is easier 😒
I mean after a while they were doing the same things. There's only so many natural styles you can do over 5-10 years. All of the products are pretty much the same copy cats in different packages. Nothing innovative being released so I can understand moving on.
I started watching smaller people for this reason and to be horned the movement could have been salvaged if they truly loved their hair. It actually should have shifted once we see all these wigs, straight naturals, and back ro relaxer videos.
it's ironic that wigs are associated with "soft life"...when in reality it should be natural hair. if it's "oh so time consuming" as they say, then having the leisure to take care of your _own_ tresses should be seen as a luxury. natural hair=soft life imo.
The only person that should be paying $1000 for an install should be Beyonce . Not the average common folks . Like what red carpet event are you headed ? A $1000 to go eat brunch at your local restaurant? To run to Target? 😂😂😂😂 like y’all are wild , this is preposterous !
I guess I’m an OG natural(2010) and I’ve seen natural videos change over time. It started with sharing tips to becoming product pushing. Now it seems like a lot are becoming straight naturals. I’ve also seen a decrease in wigs with a natural hair appearance. The tide appears to be turning but I’ll forever stay natural!
The stylist probably paid her to post this. Wig companies hint down black hair influencers to promote their products. At the end of the day full time influencers enjoy that check from selling wigs and expensive extension services. I think it's either promote these products and styles or go back to a 9 to 5.
No my edges are fine, I used to buy all my human hair wigs/bundles off AliExpress because it was A LOT cheaper and the hair was great. Girls would make up all these excuses to spend $500+ on wigs and weave just to be seen like they got it like that😂The most I paid for a wig was $200 and that was 1 time.
As a former wig wearer I hope these sistas wake up! I knew I had a problem when I would go broke or get myself in a financial funk when I would spend money on wigs instead of buying things I actually needed. I also realized spending a half a check to look like I have a skin condition due to the wig lifting was a bit absurd 😂
Seems natural hair is going out of style..many black women are no longer rocking their natueal hair..however, i live in Florida, and i see other cultures rocking thier curls...especially men now.
I don’t think the issue is straight vs curly…i think it’s many of them lied to promote a hairstyle and lifestyle that was incredibly high maintenance for the average woman…and they skipped over that reality and sold a hair dream to us that wasn’t sustainable. Then now they are selling wigs to us with the same goal. Natural hair is sooooo individualized. Me personally…wigs and weaves don’t work at all…damage my hair…
I thought it was pretty ok for the price considering the length, the quality of the hair, hopefully her hair being braided under that is included as well for a sew in but then you said quick weave and I gasped! Most of what I assumed she was getting with the service most likely isn't happening for just a quick weave and also a quick weave with leave out is never worth over $200 in my opinion because even if that is including the quality of the hair a lot of women don't actually reuse bundles after glue has touched the tracks!
I think the new trend is more black women are transitioning to relaxer and going back to installing sew-ins because of loosing their edges to wearing wigs. As far as paying $ 3000 for a hairstyle I can't see myself doing that I could invest the money in something else more profitable.
I thought it was me going crazy. A lot of my favorite natural TH-camrs are now wearing wigs full time. First, it starts with them, trying on a few wigs for sponsorships, and then they end up completely changing their entire platform to do wig reviews. It’s frustrating because it’s very hard to find natural TH-camrs that are consistent.
You’re definitely not going crazy because I’ve been noticing for a well and it’s very unfortunate but hopefully smaller creators can keep the movement alive🤎🤎🤎

I honestly believe she knowingly pushed 50 step wash day routines to people (like me) whose hair is not shiny for viewership.
