  • Just put together Rubicon's recently released StuG III Ausf. G. This is a really nice kit!

Amazing. I reckon I’ll buy it and paint it in the winter camo

Herbert Erpaderp I know one is a F but I don't know about the other. I am not home soon though I will be. I have a King Tiger and Tiger I I royally fucked up lol and a Corsair I am still deadly afraid to put the decals on. Getting out of college in 2 week and its my last year so once I get a job I am going to start trying to get better at this lol.

RememberPluto I guess you have to start somewhere, decals are a bit of a pain sometimes, and other times they induce a rage that burns hotter than a thousand suns. But you really shouldn't be afraid of them. Just go for it, if you fuck up you can learn from it and try again. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect.

I wish manufacturers would explain that the shield should not be up if the loader's hatches are closed! There was catch on the front hatch that clipped onto the shield holding it in the vertical.
It is one of my pet peeves but then I do have Asperger's and OCD 😾

That's something I didn't know. So thanks for that!
I guess it might not be accurate, but I think it looks cool to have the gun shield up, even with the hatch shut. Plus there's also the fact that (at least I think) the hatch looks better shut anyway.
I think Rubicon might be receptive to your suggestion to include little tidbits of information like that in their booklets. Probably not already printed ones... but maybe future revisions of StuGs etc. Maybe you can suggest it to them, they do have other similar bits of info in their instructions.

Herbert Erpaderp in terms of accuracy it is a pretty good model and your assembly was good also. Occasionally there was a field mod to keep the shield up at all times. It was a simple welded prop. however, the MG would not be present as the hatches could then not be easily opened (they would hit the butt of the gun!)
I may well write to Rubicon - thanks for the tip. I have seen similar omissions in Warlord instructions. The most obvious is the lack of clarity with their Panzer IV. This often leads to tanks with the large filter (ausf H) being fitted with the trough aerial holder in the same location. The trough disappeared on the late ausf G.
      I am such a nerd.

I really like Stugs but I dont like the look of the shields on the side, in my opinion, it really looks ugly to me.

+GamingWithJacob342 It's a good thing they are optional. I think StuGs look kind of weird without them

ChairmanMjau I still have a whole ton of FoW I want to do. I'm going to build the plastic Comets soon.

The diamond plating detail on the fenders is way out of scale. It's simply too large and looks terrible in my opinion.
