  • Comfrey is well known as a healing herb that repairs damaged tissue. It helps the body to form scar tissue correctly with minimum scarring. Many might not know about its beauty secrets. I have used comfrey oil since the '80's as my Magic Water Beauty Secret along with using it for it's healing abilities. There are many methods to make an herbal infused oil with dry herbs. The newest method is the rehydrated method using alcohol along with the oil to extract more of it's healing properties. Special care must be taken when using fresh herbs to avoid mold, fungus and virus.

That is grapeseed oil being used in making comfrey oil. I use grapeseed oil when making comfrey oil for my skin care. I use olive oil if I am making comfrey oil as a healing salve.

Hello, 🙋‍♀️ East Texas here🥰 I've been studying herbalism and your video showed up in my TH-cam feed. Looking forward to learning more from you. Is there a group that gathers here in Texas for learning? Subbed✅♥️

I am here in Ben Wheeler Tx. I do not know of a group that meets. I was doing classes here on my farm, but my place was too small and I was going in the hole, and people signing up and then not coming. That is why I started doing online classes. I know there are some herb clubs around Dallas and Plano. you would need to do an online search.

@@CarolynGibsonHerbalist oh wow that is awesome! I wish your classes would have worked out for you😥, but happy to find your Channel 🥰 I was sure to sub. We live about 4hrs from Ben wheeler. As a matter of fact I'm thinking me, my mom and sisters have stayed there while doing a girl trip to Canton 🤔 I would have loved to take one of your in person classes. Thank you for being here on TH-cam for those of us willing to learn🥰 Blessings to you♥️

Is that comfrey oil or grapeseed oil that was used to cover the fresh herbs?

I use my dehydrator, it is a combination air fryer and dehydrator so I can set it on whatever temperature I want. My crockpots, even with the lid off were pretty hot. What temperature do you feel is optimum? My dehydrator/fryer can go as low as 70 or much higher.
I love your teaching methods and find that the PowerPoint helps me to remember better. Thank you so much for the time and effort that you put into your videos.

I was always taught 110 but the newer teachers say as long as it is under 150

If you are using fresh the temperature will need to be higher or cook a lot longer to get rid of all moisture

You said to place the dry herb infusion in a sunny window … I am currently making a comfrey infusion and the previous instruction I received said to keep it in a dark cabinet. Which is it? 😊

    • @CarolynGibsonHerbalist
      @CarolynGibsonHerbalist  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Many herbalist have different views. The sunny window is to heat the infusion to extract more of the properties much like making sun tea. Many other herbalist will say to keep in the dark. I study many herbalist and really do not know which is better.

Why can't a dehydrator be used?

    • @CarolynGibsonHerbalist

Maybe you have better dehydrator than I do. I have 2 dehydrator and I felt like they got too hot.

I would love to enjoy your videos, but the framing, words and the “power point” style presentation of your video is distracting and aggravating. Viewers on TH-cam are not interested in reading, or how you frame your videos. We want you to SHOW and TELL us. I bring this up because I REALLY wanted to learn how to make comfrey infusion with fresh leaves, but I had such a hard time staying focused with all the distraction around, it was annoying.

    • @CarolynGibsonHerbalist

I am so sorry. I thought the power point presentation would make it easier. I will try and do better.

Carolyn, I could’ve written what I said in a more polite way. I apologize. I do want to thank you for sharing your knowledge to the public. Please do focus on videos (the idea is to show and tell us). We’d love to see you on video as well. :)

@@brooklynleslie7002 sometimes I do just use PowerPoint and sometimes video and sometimes a combination of both. Is it distracting to have the text boxes alongside the video? I normally list ingredients for Poe op le to write down the information. Helpful suggestions are always appreciated.

@@CarolynGibsonHerbalist I find the power point to be helpful! I stop the video and I reread it so that I can commit it to memory! Please don't stop the powerpoint!!
Just because it isn't helpful to one person does NOT mean it isn't helpful to all!
