Maddy keeps growing as an interviewer. You can really see her blossom in her charm, her wittiness and how comfortable she is as an interviewer. She's the pinnacle of a straight man being part of gay culture.
@@Drewbalicious Maddy might not be straight! Let's not push that narrative if we aren't certain. But I agree Maddy is very respectful and mindful of the culture.
@@everxalicex? idk if you're new here or if I'm missing something, but maddies whole gag when she got on drag race was that she's the straight one, and I've never seen her deny that or otherwise. in fact I'm sure she's done experimenting before landing on the straight label so.. I feel like it's decently solid
The conversation of A’keria speaking on hiding parts of her around her nephew to avoid people blaming her if he does end up being gay is so touching to me. I’m going through something similar with my 8 y/o nephew as well. It’s sad because it goes against my belief that people are born gay. Obviously my behavior wouldn’t affect his sexuality, but again, that potential blame makes me hide things. I’m struggling to navigate through it. It’s weird.
For me, the term „internalised homophobia“ instantly came to mind… No straight would ever „blame“ their straight parents for turning out straight, but queer people think about hiding their own nature in front of their kids out of fear they could blame(!) them once they grow up. Well, there needs to be a problem or failure in the first place, to think about „blame“. Internalised homophobia.
I’m literally going through the same thing. My nephew is 1 and I just be going through it. Especially being a makeup artist and sometimes I may wear it and I just don’t want him running into me mid blend. I remember growing up my aunt would blame my cousin who’s a lesbian and 10 years older than me that she was the reason I was gay. And that stuck with me so I don’t want nobody saying my nephew is a way because of me
But also there’s an inherent narcissism in thinking 1. You could make a child gay knowing full well one can’t. And 2. Thinking that everyone is thinking about you. If anything you are showing this potentially gay child to hide who they are. So snap out of it Mary and do yourself and everyone else around you a favor and be yourself. We aren’t grooming anyone by being ourselves.
@@bm4114 a powerful and true call to action, but I also hold space and peace for them fearing not their family being influenced as gay, but the accusations from family that that's what happened and god forbid losing your place in family's life because of that bias and hate in their heart- you're right! and sometimes we do bad math because we value our place in family's life even if they're not ready to see the honest truth of their bias or who we are
I’m so glad A’keria’s family is so supportive that her mother introduced A’keria’s drag 2 the nephew. I wouldn’t contextualise it as internalised homophobia, but fear of being shamed. So I’m glad that everybody else is proving A’keria’s fears wrong.

This is the first interview in a while where I went "wait, that's it?" at the end because it went by so fast. A'keria is such a lovely and interesting person and this interview was beautiful.
Genuinely being able to see A'keria get her flowers after being introduced to the world thanks to Drag Race is a blessing because she is a gem who deserves to be seen by everyone on top of her fans who have been screaming that shes been that girl since day one!!!!
As a Dallas Native, A'Keria has always been a favorite queen for me. She is so warm and authentic. This is amazing, thank you Maddy, And thank you Miss A'Keria Chanel Davenport.
Can we all just agree how incredible MM is?! The research, the effort, the presence?! Still being present in the moment next to Miss A'keria? That takes a lot. A'keria is such an incredible person and I wish them nothing but the best in life 😍
I love how Maddy knows when he guest has a lot of heavy topics to discuss and always asks if they're comfortable talking about it without making it awkward. As soon as she gets the go ahead she jumps right into it. So smooth
I love that Maddie keeps asking if Akeria is comfortable talking about things and that she doesn’t have to talk about something if she doesn’t want to! We love a comfortable safe environment
Sad that she feels the need to hide such a big part of herself even to the child she’s raising because she’s scared others will think she’s grooming a child. Children do get inspired by a parents hobby or profession and that’s always viewed as cute in any other situation. It would be so cool to have an artist parent that transforms like that for a living and is famous for it . Absolutely nothing to hide or be ashamed of that’s a big deal and well respected to those who respect the art of drag. You’re an artist . A successful one. Your child can be proud of that fact. As can you mama 💖
Yall lack context. Akeria is a Black drag queen from Texas. Being from a blue state she probably feels the need to be very mindful of how she moves, because the homophobia is real in Texas. You still have people that feel that anyone that is LGBT shouldn't be near children, which is BS. I'm saying that as a straight Black woman in Texas that's a proud ally to the community. If her nephew were to come out as LGBT later in life she would be blamed or accused of worse. She knows what she's doing.

Fun fact: Artificial banana flavor is based on the Gros Michel (aka Big Mike) banana, that basically went extinct from Panama disease. All the bananas in the store now are Cavendish bananas. Sort of like how granny Smith and honeycrisp apples are both apples but very different.
yes, I think people would be shocked about the sheer amount of variety in things like fruits and vegetables and the like. humans have been working at agricultural ventures for thousands of years, and it shows. nearly any fruit you can think of in the store, there are a plethora of varieties to choose from even if there's only one common kind you have access to at large supermarkets. some clearer ones that often have a few choices like apples, pears, melons, oranges. there are tons of each of those, but also different varieties of strawberries, blueberries, mango, etc. Some have smaller differences between variety (like some varieties of berry) while others have large, like the stark difference between a tommy atkin mango and an ataulfo mango. you can still get gros michel bananas, they just aren't grown commercially anymore so you'd have to seek them out from a place that sells them, probably online. lots of fruits have a shockingly large difference between at least one set of varieties, think of navel oranges vs mandarin oranges. it's all very interesting and I think a lot of people don't appreciate fruit enough because they disregard importance of buying in season, and they aren't aware of truly how much the category has to offer because they've only ever been to large supermarkets
These two, wow. Incredible chemistry. Maddy made me fell in love with Akeria all over again, and yet she also got to shine talking about her gender journey.

The interviewer Maddy is well loved by drag artists for her respect, attention, and of course comedy- and Akeria is a beloved force of nature. I would pick this as a good first episode for a friend, glad you got to enjoy it unexpectedly!
I love how Maddy’s interviews are so in depth and beyond just Drag. Family history and struggles and triumphs. The story about Akeria’s grandmother was touching and adds a third dimension to the Queens we see on Drag Race.
akeria is incredible her drag and her talent on the show is so underapreciated and the kindness and compassion she shines as a person is commendable she deserves the world ❤

I so wanted A'keria to progress well in AS6. I wanna see her again in the show soon.
So wonderful to learn something new about our Maddy.

I looooove Akeria!!! This was one of my favorite interviews. Great job Maddie. I think this has been the most relaxed I have seen you. It seems you really related to Akeria.
I absolutely love hearing the rich stories of the Queens 👑. It brings such richness, depth, and humanity to these people.
Had such a similar experience with my mum to A'keria coming out.
Only love, with 'some' teething issues xo
Maddy, your interviewing skills.. progressing to say the least.
So comfy these days xo
One of the best eps so far for sure!

This video popped up on my algorithm. I've never watched an episode of Drag Race, but this is still fun!
The interviewer Maddy is well loved by drag artists for her respect, attention, and of course comedy- and Akeria is a beloved force of nature. I would pick this as a good first episode for a friend, glad you got to enjoy it unexpectedly!
Simply put: I love you A'keria. Smart, beautiful, funny, artistic, principled and oh so talented. Girl you are GORGEOUS.
I love how Maddy’s interviews are so in depth and beyond just Drag. Family history and struggles and triumphs. The story about Akeria’s grandmother was touching and adds a third dimension to the Queens we see on Drag Race.
akeria is incredible her drag and her talent on the show is so underapreciated and the kindness and compassion she shines as a person is commendable she deserves the world ❤
THANK YOU!
The taæk about experimenting with your gender was very illuminating for me to listen to, as a trans woman that transitioned in the stone ages it was refreshing to hear two "detransitioners" talk anout their experiences, I feel much wiser after that conversation 😌
and Akria I must say I afore you ❤
and to some extent miss Madelain too😘😘
I’ve been a fan of this show before it went on MOM and this was a fierce interview!!!! Maddy you definitely a great interviewer
One of my favorite queens ever she’s so underrated thank you for having her 🥹☺️❤
"Drag you to heaven" Davenport Mortuary and Funeral home. Send your family to glory with faith and good taste ❤️
Akeria is such a treasure!
I feel Akeria was in a good mood on the day of this interview, her and Maddy are just having a fun time and I love that. Such an underrated queen.
Maddie deserves to win a Peabody Award. Amazing interview. Consistently.
A literal earth angel has just graced our screens , salt of the earth absolute gorgeousness , that smile ! Thankyou , what an amazing interview x
I'm so glad you do these and we get to know more about the queens outside of drag race. Always give you more of an appreciation for that queen.
