There were no black people in Japanese history.
    There is one exception.
A story that dates back 20 years to the time of the General.
It is said that when a missionary took a black slave and met a prominent person in power at that time (Nobunaga), he saw a black person for the first time, and at first he could not believe the blackness of the person and made the black person wash his body on the spot, saying,'
He must have painted his body with ink.'
It is said that, out of curiosity, he had the black man transferred to him, gave him the name'
Yasuke,' gave him a territory, and made him a samurai.
After that, he was involved in a rebellion by his subordinates and the person in power was killed, but when the captured Yasuke was asked how he was treated, the enemy warlord (Mitsuhide) said,'
You don't have to kill him because he is not human,' and told the missionary to hand him over and return him to his home country.

Using the Korean Peninsula as an example, these days they're going around saying Japan's samurai culture actually started in Korea. They're all about how Korean warriors called "Saulabi" went over to Japan and ended up being called samurai. They've been pushing this story to academic circles for like a decade now. Obviously, it's total BS. But you know how it goes: "Tell a lie a 100 times, it becomes the truth."
Nowadays, if even one person buys into these crazy claims from Korea or Africa, it blows up as "truth" on social media. Hate to say it, but because Korea and Africa have been colonies or vassal states for so long, they're kinda obsessed with figuring out their own identity.

  • @Leif208
    @Leif208 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +58

So, let's be historically accurate. First, Sakanoe no Tamuramaro was not black. And as for Yasuke, he was indeed black, but he wasn't a samurai. He was a novelty in Japan (brought as a slave or servant by a Portuguese priest) and a Japanese leader was so fascinated by him (especially by his black skin. Tried to have him prove it was real by having him try to wash it off), that he wanted to use him as a way of gaining popularity. He at first made him his retainer (which is a step up from an indentured servant) and later made him a page, which is a special servant to a samurai.
There wasn't much recorded about his live in Japan but the last record of him was the following: "The vassal asked Akechi what should be done with the black man, and he said, 'A black slave is an animal (bestial) and knows nothing, nor is he Japanese, so do not kill him, and place him in the custody at the cathedral of Padre in India."

There were only around 4 or 5 Europeans who achieved samurai like status as well. One of the more famous was William Adams. Here are his details: 250 koku.[8][11] He was granted the rank of Hatamoto, a fief and 80-90 servants. Interpreter and shipwright of Tokugawa Shogunate. I am Japanese. The story in this video is mostly bullshit. In particular The black theory of Sakanouye Tamuramaro in this video is wrong. The Sakanoueye family is descended from Emperor Ling of the Han Dynasty and has nothing to do with black people. Because of his family background, he was trusted by the emperor of Japan and served him for generations. Also, the phrase "for a Samurai to be brave he must have a bit of Black blood" does not exist.
This is an insult to us Japanese. Please quit introducing false history. Also, the Ainu are not black. It was from Yasuke that blacks first appeared in Japanese history. I think a LOT of these sites don’t understand because one author put something in a book years ago, doesn’t make it true. In actual Japanese history there is NO reference to him having black ancestry at all.
In the second case, Yasuke- he was DEFINITELY black but he was NEVER a Samurai. He was brought over by a Portuguese slave owner. He was sold to a Japanese man because he had never seen a black man before. The person who bought him died and he was given a short-sword and may have fought with a peasant army. He was only in Japan for a total of 3 years then was deported and sold to missionaries in India. Afrocentrism sure does make a LOT of unsubstantiated claims which are historically inaccurate. 😂

Slavery existed in most countries, historically. Even the term “slave” has its origins in the word slav. The slavs, who inhabited a large part of Eastern Europe, were taken as slaves by the Muslims of Spain during the ninth century AD. We understand slavery to be the ownership, buying/selling of human beings for the purpose of forced & unpaid labour.
This means that Africans enslaved other Africans. There were wars between different African communities & those who lost the war were either killed or “enslaved.” African slaves were traded/sold to the best offer, be it from another African community, Muslims, or trade ships. All are “slavers” . The English & New England trading ship captains/crew did not leave the ship to wander into African land to kidnap & enslave Africans. They would’ve been instantly overwhelmed and either killed or enslaved themselves. The slave ships traded/purchased already enslaved Africans, from other African slavers near the coasts.
Of course, these acts are morally wrong, & reprehensible to us today, but were commonplace throughout history. The ships captain worked for the ships owners & the ships crew were hired to run the ship. The ships owners & captains were basically merchants engaged in selling or trading one thing for another. In this case, the slave trade consisted of trade of previously enslaved people in Africa.

It is true that the assumed Blackness of Sakanoue no Tamuramaro is merely an early 20th century speculation. However, the story of Yasuke is true verified by Japanese sources. He was not necessarily a slave - Portuguese ship crews at that time were multiethnic anyway & he was either an enslaved or a free bodyguard & valet of Alessandro Valiagno. The Portuguese tried to sell enslaved Africans & other Asians to the Japanese but there was not much of an interest. Therefore, the Portuguese settled for buying slaves from Japan, Chinese & Japanese.

Oh, shit! Yet another one that's bound and determined to make it plain their ignorant denial of anything, anyone or any other associated with any Black allegiant possibility.
Don't you just hate the very thought of the loss of credibility in the Asian nations' and their cultural touchstones?

The Japanese thought Koreans were inferior, they thought Europeans were barbarians.....so what would they have thought of Black Africans? NO, the only Black man recorded in Japanese history was Yasuke, only because lord Oda Nobunaga fancied everything foreign.

The reason why it's "untold" because there is nothing to tell. There were no black samurais. Japan has been a homogenous and isolationist society for centuries and did not take kindly to the outsiders. The idea that there were black samurais is bs Afrocentrist revisionist history devoid of any historical facts..

Suntzu has always been my favorite warrior general ever since I discover the are of war. But now discovering these two great warriors, Yasuke just recently and Tamanamaro tonight. I have a completely different perspective on African history. It hurts my soul that this history has been suppressed so long. But the Truth will always find it's way to the light. Shame on those who would suppress this. SHAME!

The white samurai in The Last Samurai made me laugh because it was so absurd,
but now seeing the same thing with a black version, or rather, someone taking it seriously, is a bit less amusing.

@chickenheart7615 There were white samurai. An Englishman or two and a few Portuguese. Well documented. No cool battles I know of, they were mostly just land owners. There were never any records of black samurai though.

@@AlexM-oq5el That cannot be called a samurai in the true sense. It's the same as how you cannot call a modern person a samurai just by dressing them in a helmet and armor.

😂😂😂 this is comedy Sakanoue no Tamamurmaro was NOT black he was descended from the Chinese Emperor Ling which is why they trusted him and made him a samurai, additionally Ainu people aren’t black they’re descendants of Jomon people who are the eclectic groups of people that inhabited ancient Japan 60,000 years ago and have some Eurasian ancestry. Some of them literally look like white Eurasians and they do not look black. I even have friends who are of Ainu descent and they either look Japanese due to mixing or look Eurasian.
