Original UnderOath is way better than the new one. Dallas has very good vocals, spoken-words and growls, they add a lot to the music and I would much prefer it to be with growls+spoken-words than with anything else, the words are clear most of the time, and the few times you don't hear it is because there is a lot of distortion going on.

It happened all so fast, heavy with sleep, my eyes closed...
The next thing I remember was crawling out from the car,
      And seeing you lying there
Holding your head, kissing you for the last time
The taste of blood on my lips...
Your clothes torn apart, perfumed with gas
It seems like it was yesterday when the rain poured down
I can still hear your screams as if it was happening all over again
      Saturday, December 4th:
That night would become a grave,
      That would crush my heart
Joy and laughter exchanged for grief, and silence.
Searching for so long to find you,
And the moment I did, you were ripped from me...
Laying here on this empty shelf never to be read again
In these pages lies every memory of you
The wind blew your heart over my eyes,
And I slept for days praying not to awake,
But these dreams can only last so long.
Facing the day looking through these tears
I'll always look back and remember that night...
      (... ? ...)
Looking over that casket, seeing your face..
      Times of past rushing by..
Touching your cold hand, wishing it would touch me back
You look so pretty lying there, just like the first day we met
It feels so real; like old times, but it's nothing, it's nothing...
I can taste the stale air on my tongue.
And death lights up the sky.
Hope finds itself it and it ends, stopping at my thoughts
Pictures of you help bring back the tears
Walking in the present, but living in the past
How much longer will I embrace sorrow?
From the moment that you entered my life
My whole outlook on love would change
You brought out a happiness I didn't even know I had,
And now you've gone, leaving without a goodbye...
THAT GLASS HEART THAT RESTED IN MY CHEST HAS FALLEN AND SHATTERED
Here on, Lord, is the remains of a broken heart
For I have faith you can give me joy and life again
Death has fallen, but love covers me
Heaven is now home to my angel of love

There is no way this can be considered demonic, it's just a way of utilizing vocals in an unconventional manner, not to mention they're a christian band, so they wouldn't make any demonic songs, and yes, this is great hardcore/early metalcore, anyone who likes hardcore and/or metal and doesn't think so, don't know crap about music and should just be quiet. I remember seeing Underoath 8ish years ago. Beginning of the second song Aaron busted the skin on his snare and just kept on playing while we were searching backstage for a new skin. Still one of the best shows I have ever seen. The best thing is after the show was done Underoath took my friend and I to Denny's(Tim bought me a huge plate of seasoned fries). Then, they needed directions across the bridge, so we rode with them and they took us home. Great band.

@tmog66 so because someone does drugs means they die? thats ignorant. and i highly doubt any of these fans are on drugs. just because they are dancing around and may seem crazy to the "normal" eye, and i say normal in sarcasm. doesn't mean they are high. Can be completely sober and enjoy yourself, everyone has there preference. You'll learn that when you mature. this is a Christian band by the way.

  • @carstereobandits
    @carstereobandits 16 ปีที่แล้ว

give me thumbs down but you can't deny that they have become better song writers, and they have better screamers these days, as a musician I can tell you that musically Define the Great Line is a cd that won't be passed in creativity by any band anytime soon, not even them. I don't care much for Christian music so I don't care to compare the lyrics but Define the Great Line is brilliant.

  • @fatefatefate
    @fatefatefate 15 ปีที่แล้ว

This is when they were like fucking black metal, they were insane, but the music wasn't near as good as it is now. - As far as Dallas goes it's beyond me that someone could do this then and be in a southern rock band now, although it does make me curious if it's possible to hear really early Underoath material like this at a Maylene and the Sons of Disaster concert.

  • @AtrocityEquine01

@@nickwick35 I pretty much have read it was fabricate or just a rumor. If it was fabricated, it was probably to enforce their lyrics of someone losing a lover but knowing they're in Heaven watching over them. Which fits for old school Underoath.

They didn't kick him out, it was a decision made by the band that he should sort stuff out with his life (girlfriend problems) and leave because it was causing him a lot of stress and he wasn't being himself.
