Don't you love when that happens! 💝 One of my Phals decided to bloom. I took had forgotten what the bloom looked like. I'm glad she was patient with me until I learned what she needed. Today, I pushed past my limits and fed my Phal orchids 300 ppm. I want my Phals to have stacks of leaves like your's! 😊
I hope my one old guy will bloom this winter. With my luck it will be a bloom color I already have. I tend to forget what I have and have bought the same orchid twice. I have given a couple away because of that. I use 300 ppm of fertilizer year round in bloom and out of bloom. I have heard some do not fertilize during blooming but I have never had a problem doing that. Hope you had a great weekend! Thanks for watching the video I do appreciate it!
......you do so well with your editing, and your phals are looking great, I see 10 leaves or more on several of your phals, show consistant care and good nutrition........well done my friend
Thank you! The Phals were my gateway orchid and I am quit fond of them. I am starting to think that they are not as easy to grow as other orchids like Dendrobiums. Seems some Phals just give up for no reason and others love life, lol. With your great advice they are getting a consistent supply of the right nutrients. Thanks again! Hope you're have a great weekend!
I’m in Charlotte NC. My media has evolved over the past year. I started mixing my own media and feel the latest mix which is course bark, some moss and leca seems to be the best so far. All the ones with straight up bark are doing well but I think the ones with the new mix are doing better. I do have a couple that I haven’t repotted yet and are still in the original media they came with because they seem to be doing fine. I just keep an eye on their roots and water less if they are in straight up moss. Hope you had a great weekend!
I think the one with the floppy leaf needs a little more calcium. One of my Phals had the same problem. I started giving her more CalMag. Thanks to Rick L.
I have increased the calcium to 100 ppm in the last two waterings. Before that it was around 40 ppm. I think with it leaning and the length of the leaf it just flopped over but I could be wrong. Rick L is a wealth of information. I have learned so much from his videos. Take care and thank you!
The wait from spiking to flowering seems like an eternity but well worth the wait! Although I don't leave the inflorescence after blooming so the plant can regain strength and grow except for the one that is a sequential bloomer. Happy growing!!

Where are you located/weather? Looks like a few types on media, anything working better than others?
