Training in drive, with food rewards, we're manipulating dopamine production. Training out of drive, with petting/ physical touch, we're manipulating the "love hormone", oxytocin.

@hans-alpinek9real creating a strong bond, conditioning a response to the cue. Dopamine creates junkies, Oxytocin creates a bond and a follower.

one huge issue is that the general dog owning public sees prey drive, protection, and fear aggression as stemming from the same place of protection when they dont. many owners think their dog is protecting them when in reality the dog is fearful and is protecting itself and they just happened to be there. a dog who bites because someone tried to pet it and a dog who bites because a burglar broke in and attacked you are two different dogs.

Well trained defense based protection training is based on building the confidence in a dog and not fear.

to me good leadership is like good parenting. the goal should be that the dog becomes the best it can be and thrives under the owners care because the owner is bringing out the best in them not "just do as i say because I exist"

Genetics. Recessive traits being " thrown" every few generations in a line. Or a dormant trait being " thrown" when there is genetic synchronisation from both parents. For instance, when you linebreed back to a common ancestor, you tend to see a very similar phenotype and trait sequence occurring the children grandchildren great grandchildren all look and act very similar. Those are " dominant " because they occur frequently. Then, if you " out cross" to a "line" that's equal or greater, you produce hybrid vigour.
If you are to cross back into a line with distant ancestor. Say your line is maternal and you cross to distant paternal ancestors, That may unlock dormant traits. For instance, blonde hair instead of a dominant trait being black hair in the line
    Mendelian principles chromosomes and genes.

There is a system of breeding in male lines which utilizes this principle. One day I make a video on it. That is then used in consistence and predictability of progeny.
