Hey mate, I started at the bottom of Speculation Road at the junction of King Basin Road just before the road climbs onto the plateau (and also where the road massively deteriorates). Made for a massive road bash!
I love the Alps. Ski toured them many times including Mt Stirling, Bogong high plains and schlink pass in NSW. None of it a patch on Tasmania though, with many jewels in the Australian mountain crown. Great film all the same.
Tasi seems great, but most of the trails are becoming too commercial for my liking. I am very interested in the Western Arthurs, Federation Peak, and Frenchmans. Outside of the above mentioned locations nothing seems overly interesting enough to make me want to plan a trip when I've still got heaps to explore in the alpine region.
Gday, that really depends on what gear you have. If you carry less and don’t have bulky gear then you don’t need much. In this video I’m using a 60L pack but I’m not using all of the space.

Beautiful! I liked seeing flora closeups almost as much as the summit views.
The High Country comes to life with various wildflowers and colours during summer, very picturesque but not quite as good as the mountain views!
