Pretty much everyone agrees that REmake drastically improves on pretty much all aspects of RE1, but it doesn't have Barry casually walking over a giant melting purple snake and asking Jill if she saw anything interesting

But the REmake has one slightly annoying flaw. The first 20 minutes are not very well balanced.

The first 20 minutes are very difficult compared to the rest of the game. It's the beginning and many people struggle as they are out of ammo when they first reach the tomb. The murder hall is a problem for many, and after that you run low. I've been speedrunning RE for over two decades and don't have issues when doing normal plays, but for the average player the game can be frustrating up until you have reached the 2F balcony and killed the dogs.
Constantly low on ammo and a lack of healing items makes the first part a frustrating grind for many.
By comparison RE0 and the OG RE is very nicely done and get the game off in a good pace.
Barry's dialogues are the best! One of the most quotables characters in video game history 🙌🏻

All that said, this is a beautiful walkthrough and you did such an amazing job with it!

God that intro is so good. Capcom should try doing a Netflix film or animated series aiming for that clumsy tone, it would be a breath of fresh air after all of the overly grimdark productions.
I can't remember their name but there was an indie film studio in the early youtube era that made video game parodies. This included a set of Resident evil and silent parodies that were made and acted poorly on purpose as a tribute to the virgining fmv era
Crazy to think it started when they just grabbed a couple of college students and paid them to film that over a couple hours.

You called out your mistake on the 2 missed hunters for anyone using this as a walkthrough, and you had the ammo to kill them so anyone who wants to use this as a "kill all guide" can use it. Great work as always Carcinogen. I've watched about 30 of your vids. A+ on all of them.

First time I played resident evil was on summer break back in the late 90's and my uncle rented it for me from Blockbuster. It never returned.

Retro re games came out when I was a kid and I never knew how to solve puzzles. Like even little stuff like knowing to check the picture frame so when Barry walks in you trigger story progression. So your videos help me put the pieces together of unfished games from my childhood. I start the vid at the beginning of the game wake up and the game is over lol
I love how at the beginning it takes Barry 3 shots at close range to kill a run-of-the-mill zombie but later on in the tunnels, he kills a hunter from a distance with just 2.
He got some upgrade parts on his way there for his gun

Know what ive always thought was strange? Enemies normally cant open doors. The ones that DO however and get a cut scene such as super zombie and the first hunter encounter...are polite enough to close the door behind them.

probably because i’ve heard it so many times I’m completely unaffected by it and don’t feel the need to force laughter like most of the people who play up that meme. to me it’s a point of reference.

This is the only version of Resident Evil I do not have for the PS1. Great walkthrough I did not realize that this version was harder than the other versions. I heard you say that there was only one difficulty level. I always thought that the Chris play through was hard and the Jill one was normal. Chris can not get lock pick, grenade launcher, no Barry help with shotgun, plant 42, can not mix V-jolt, or play the piano just to name some differences. I really enjoy your content.
