      So I was blessed enough to be accepted into the SANS Womens Cyber Security Immersion Academy. After months of interviewing and getting recommendation letters I got accepted into a 6 month boot camp for 3 certs (I got to choose an elective) everything fully paid for. Value of the program is at least $20,000

      @@hamdij5560 Honestly I'd say just take notes and ask as many questions as possible. If your bootcamp is anything like mine. Your instructors will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have.

    Thank you for this content Sandra! I’m a new subscriber. I don’t have any IT experience but I am looking into being a PACS Admin since I am a radiologic technologist. I’ve been looking into boot camps since I don’t have any IT experience but with your help and videos, I was able to find much more information!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

    I have heard mixed reviews on bootcamps. I am self-taught and have looked at bootcamp curriculi and often find that i can find as much or more using free resources online. There are online courses that provide certificates, etc. that may be much more worthwhile as many bootcamps can be ridiculously expensive. I have gotten some attraction by some employers just by getting certificates from online learning resources, but that is my experience.

    • @crunkin1t590

      Could you give me an example of some good online certificates i would be able to get or should look into

    • @Astarrrrr
      @Astarrrrr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I’d assume they still cost money but some boot camps don’t make u pay until u actually lane a job and as opposed to how much you’ll pay at a university it’s way cheaper.

    id recommend Dr. Angela Yu's Bootcamp she has Python Full stack web development and more. She is founder of the London App Brewery in London and has taught over 2 million students.. of course i don't live in London but on Udemy she has the exact same lessons and sections as in person :) the in person costs 12k so getting the same exact thing online was worth it for $170 or around there. O had basics down but needed more advanced work. I got hired as a junior Developer at Google

    I am changing careers and I am torn between boot camps. On one hand some people are telling me that there are free boot camps but I don’t see 1:1 mentorship or job guarantees, and on the other end, I found a Boot Camp in MD University that is 13k but offers a lot of support with mentors, job guarantee and front end and back end. I am going to have to take a loan but I think I should go for the one in MD university. It sounded promising. What is your advice?

    • @WithSandra
      @WithSandra  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Any program with job guarantees (aka “if you dont get a job within 12 months, you get your money back) or ISAs (income shared agreements where you dont pay until you get a job n then part of ur paycheck goes to the bootcamp) are going to be the best if the job search is your main concern. Even if it may not be the #1 bootcamp, if you need support during your job search and thats something you value highly, then go for that, as long as it teaches you the basics or foundations for the job you want to go into. Typically universities with bootcamp programs already have a career center for their students so they may be better equipped than stand alone bootcamps that offer career guidance too. Good luck Ana and so excited you’re interested in getting into cybersecurity! Keep us updated! ☺️

    Hi Sandra! Is it possible to have a career in Cyber Security with a criminal record? Specifically a felony such as Conspiracy to Possess with the Intent to Distribute LSD.

    what are your thoughts on if the bootcamp is fully funded by the goverment? I've already gotten a degree in information systems but I'd like to increase my technical skills. The only cost of this is that I'd be out of work studying fulltime in the bootcamp for 3-4months. I'm located in new zealand though so the tech scene isn't as big here.

    • @hashiramasenju6058
      @hashiramasenju6058 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be helpful but it's unnecessary. Any technical degree (Computer Science, Information Systems, etc.) would be fine.

    • @WithSandra
      @WithSandra  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed, a CompSci degree could be just as good if you get experience hacking yourself, which is mostly free online including sites like Tryhackme/Hackthebox and most tools are free to use or have a community edition - nmap, burpsuite, wireshark, etc. Good luck with your decision!

      Thanks Steven! I'm not familiar with them but I'd make sure to ask/check for actual alumni who found jobs after graduating from codingnomads and the companies they got into/salaries they started at. This will tell you everything you need to know for how good the bootcamp is, good luck!
