Nice video. I also ride a Talon, 2022 Talon 3 upgraded to a 12 speed deore and a lighter airfork from suntour. I'm still 5050 if I will change tires from a Maxxis Ardent 2.25 to a 2.4. I only do light trails. What fast rolling Maxxis tire can you recommend?
You really seem to be battling with turning the bike which led to the crash. Maybe you could benefit from shorter length handle bars or smaller wheel size bike to give you more control.Nice video 😎👍
In my humble opinion I believe that would have made it quite a bit worse. Shorter bars equals less leverage making it harder to turn (although turning wasn't the problem). Sure with enough force you can turn quicker but that would not have saved him. That would have been a one way trip to OTB ville. Smaller wheel size balances out some of the shorter handle bar negatives but at the expense of grip since a smaller patch of rubber makes contact on a smaller wheel and the need to run higher pressures reducing grip and breaking power even more. It would also increase the head tube angle unless you up the front suspension travel to compensate(a costly downgrade in my opinion). If you don't do that it would shift weight more towards the front of the bike which is uhhh not good (chuu chuu all aboard to OTB ville 😅). Smaller wheels also just makes for a bumpier ride. What might have helped is tyre choice, going tubeless with a wider gripy profile closer to what you would find on enduro,DH bikes. Changing tyres is generally speaking the most cost effective way to improve a bikes performance. That said, gear can only do so much. The main issue here however was just poor line choice leading to a poor approach angle over that bump (at the start of the berm) into the corner making cornering difficult and not helping his tyres grip well either. if his angle of approach was better he could have easily cleared that berm with less turning. To be honest this could happen to anyone so always wear your helmets
*Please excuse the excessive wind noise in this video, my wind sock seemed to have malfunctioned*
