    If only someone would take this technology and implement it with the Helium network. You could literally create your own personal encrypted communications world wide. A single helium antenna can reach a hundred miles, and it is a very large network just waiting to go to work.

      Haven’t heard of that system, I’ll have to look into that.

    Great video, been researching these. Thanks for the step by step. Do a video on the Lilygo T- deck next.

      I think I’ll be doing some vids on the RAK wisblock as a base station in the future. The t-deck is cool though.

      @@SkillCollectors absolutely! Been looking at possibly building a solar powered Wis block for my base station. I'm totally new

    do i need to reflash when new features are added or wait for a message to update it via the app?

      I reflash manually using the web flasher to updated firmwares.

    Hello and thank you for your work making this video.
    For years i have wanted an independent messaging system. This may be it. Is a computer needed to update the firmware or can it be done from a mobile phone? I heard you say Chrome is needed, but i do not have access to a computer.
    I have a few other questions that ill save for another day.
    Thank you so much for your reply. Any other information would be appreciated. I am limited in resources and skills but i am researching Meshtastic more and more.

      As far as I can tell, you do need a computer to upload firmware. It does work on linux, would it be feasible for you to get an older raspberry pi perhaps? The model 3 with wifi would be a great option. You could even get a pi zero 2 W which is even cheaper but a bit slower. You could install chromium onto those and that would allow you flash firmwares.

      @@SkillCollectors thank you so much for the reply. Currently I am... I am in the hospital for an undetermined amount of time and can not get to a computer. I was hoping to be able to obtain as much of a complete device as I could so I have something to play with while I'm on the 7th floor with a window overlooking the city.
      I thought it would be fun to see if I could find others on the network. Nevertheless, in the meantime I'll keep watching new videos as they come out and go from there.
      Thank you again for the suggestions. Have a wonderful night.

    Maybe you can help: I don't understand this Docker utility. I have successfully flashed a Heltec ESP32 V3, and partially set up some of it, but I'm at a standstill. Although I have attempted to send a couple of test messages, nothing seems to happen and when I'm looking at the Meshtastic messaging screen on my tablet, the cloud symbol has a line through it. Any ideas where to look for things I need to check or uncheck, etc? By the way, I have to run Windows because not enough hardware manufacturers design their hardware to work with Linux. Although there are supposedly utilities in Linux to allow Microsoft designed hardware to work, I never seem to be able to get those to mesh.

    or, hear me out, just send the message over bluetooth?

    • @SkillCollectors
      @SkillCollectors  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With devices right next to each other, that would work just fine but these radios can communicate over miles with line of sight and with directional antennas even 10s of miles. Bluetooth would not be able to come even close to that.
