I flew an aero club cessna 152 from Kadena AFB in Okinawa to Ie shima in 1984. If I had known at the time that 'the soldiers buddy' had died there, I surely would have hiked over to his memorial and paid my respects.

This is an interesting post. If I am counting properly, so far there are 20 minutes of commercials at the beginning of his show. Shep made them interesting by adding his panache, and I especially liked his interjection about critics and their 'excitement.'😂

Then, after 21 minutes of commercials, a history lesson about Americans and their experiences with "Peace Planes" and their experiences after World War Two. This is education.🫡

Very interesting story related by the historical post-war radio expert mentioning the Japanese man in a crowded train stuffed up against the author of the piece, the Japanese man's teeth hitting the author's shirt button, with the Japanese man never taking his eyes off of the author for the whole express train ride. And the author's tense account, of being an Amercan stuffed onto a jam-packed Japanese commuter train, post-war after the Japanese having their (I'm quoting the author) "cities turned into matchsticks," was palpable.
