Your comments are right on. Here I get the Repeal Batch for $14, for that price I find it a good value. I've never bought the White Label because I don't buy anything at 80 proof anymore. I like Beam Bonded and Distiller's Cut, but the best "budget" bourbon for me is Evan Williams BiB at $9.40 per 750ml bottle.
txmike1945 wow! That’s an amazing price for EV BiB. Where are you that you can find it for that price? Can you believe they charge $40 CAD for it here?!
@@TheWhiskyExplorer Down here in Texas the 1.75L jug is $22, that works out to be right about $9.40 per 750 ml bottle. The normal 750 ml bottle alone sells for $13. For comparison the 1783 is $14. Yeah we are fortunate, Texas has some of the lowest booze prices anywhere. $40 CAD, what's that, about $20 US?? :) jk
txmike1945 hahaha! Sure feels like it! It’s just frustrating that a budget Bourbon (most places in the states it is about $15) is so expensive here. Buffalo Trace is the same price for comparison.
Bourbinsane hey guys, sorry if I’ve asked this before Chris! I noticed for the first time yesterday that EW BiB says “charcoal-mellowed.” I didn’t realize that! Is the flavour profile similar at all to Jack? I haven’t liked any of the JD products I’ve tried (neat), so I gotta know!
I have tried the J B Repeal Batch and I like it. I keep a bottle of white label on my bar but may replace it with repeal batch. For a lower proof it is good juice. The Advent series is great and reminds me of expressions I want to pick up.
I haven't tried the Repeal Batch - in fact I haven't seen it over here. I have compared the JD Old No. 7 with their two Legacy editions and definitely prefer the Legacy products.
I can answer that, I have both. No contest, the Distiller's Cut is clearly better, but right now it seems very scarce. I read one review a while back that concluded " You Should Buy Every Bottle of Jim Beam Distiller’s Cut You Can Find." But being a "Limited Edition" and all that ...
@@Bourbinsane I have noticed a great amount of variation in what whiskeys are available in different parts of the US, and of course great variations in prices. I wish I had reasons to drive through the state of Kentucky occasionally, it would be nice to load up my vehicle with many of the things I can't get in Texas. Of course I am within short driving distance of Balcones in Waco, are their products available in Michigan? Their Single Malt really is as good as many reviews say it is.
@@txmike1945 I have only seen balcones rye and ghost hill bourbin in MI. Those are the only 2 Texas whiskies I have seen. I try to go to KY annually and yess I load up big time!
Love the comparison! Great idea Chris! I really can’t stand the white label, but I really like the Bonded, which is only a few more dollars here. Unfortunately, have never seen the Repeal Batch here. We get pretty screwed for bourbon selection in my area of Canada. Lovin’ the advent calendar series btw.
White label was the first bourbon I tried to drink neat and I still have a bad twitch when I see it. I have had Repeal Batch also, and it was better, but didn’t really start enjoy it until the second half of the bottle. Beam products I go hot and cold on. Some days they taste decent other days not. I’ve only been sipping bourbon for about a year and still think I’m learning my palate.
Uncle Dave, to your point " Some days they taste decent other days not." We've probably all experienced that to some degree, but the whiskey isn't changing, our taste buds are responding differently. That is one of the reasons we should have at least one dram a day, we have to train those taste buds almost constantly!!
Love the series as well. 👍 I think the Black has replaced the white label for me as the Jim Beam standard bourbon. Not much you can do with the white. As you said, it's a bourbon. Plain and simple. Trying to find the Black giftset around me to get a couple free glasses. But, can only find the white. I think you said you were in Michigan as well. Have you seen these around?
Love the videos, really enjoying the 25 drams of Christmas. I have had both of these and I have to say I did not like either one. To me they were boozy with very little flavor. I finished my bottles by mixing them with Coke. Cheers, Happy Holidays!!
Nothing wrong with mixing with Coke. Agreed there are definetly better bottles out there for sure. I really appreciate you watching and following along!

That is an incredible price on the EW BIB. Great Value!

Thx so much Guy! I am loving doing these day after day. So much fun! So many good whiskies out there!
Knob Creek lite. I've found that the Beam stuff needs some air time and it really opens up with more barrel spice.
I like that knob creek lite analogy hahah
I'd like to do a blind taste test between these two. I got the Repeal Batch at Walmart for $12.97.
Go for it!

Yes exactly. It is most definitely an improvement over the white, but I would still probably reach for others at the ~$20 price point. Cheers!🥃🔥
do you think the repeal batch is as good as distiller's cut?
Pretty sure I have only had distillers cut one time and it was after many other pours, but from memory distillers cut was much better

I have heard binded is decent, I dint even think I have had that (that I can remember) come south of the boarder more!
Nice! Yes, enjoying the series. Don’t they have a bottled in bond? That would’ve been interesting.
Yes they do make a bonded expression too. Actually never tried it though. Would be really fun to do a whole JB blind tasting sometime!
Bourbinsane Please! Maybe include Knob Creek too?
@@katzsteel for my money I cns alre as dy tell tpu I get alot more out of KC 100 than any of the JB base labels I have had

I agree with that whole statement honestly. I will 9 times out of 10 reach for a knob creek even over the repeal batch. It is very introductory level.
