🇳🇱 In dit interview van donderdag 2 juni 2022 spraken we John McGuinness voor een exlusief interview. Op dat moment was het nog 'practice week' maar John stond er al goed voor met een rondetijd in de 129 mph. Op zaterdag 4 juni zou hij zijn honderdste Isle of Man TT start maken, een uniek getal voor een unieke racelegende op het Isle of Man die op Joey Dunlop na de meest succesvolle coureur is op het eiland met 23 overwinningen.

🇬🇧 We spoke to John McGuinness for an exclusive interview on Thursday 2nd of June 2022. At the time it was still 'practice week' but John was already in good shape with a lap time of over 129 mph. On Saturday 4th of June he would make his 100th Isle of Man TT start, a unique number for a unique racing legend who is the second most successful rider on the island after Joey Dunlop with 23 wins.

I´m a 2wheel-racing fan all my life and did some myself. I met John McGuinness on a Campsite in Katweijk an Zee in 2014 and chatted 45 Minutes with him. What a likeable bloke this man is.
You did a very good interview and it was clear that you did some thinking before asking.
That is a fresh breeze in this sort of business, to say the least.

110% agree but sadly Mr Honda has passed and as awlays we then end up with pen pushers or the owners kids running things

John is a lovely bloke, he gave us a clue without realising it, he said he's 3 titles away from his all time hero, (but its important to keep their names up there), this is his 100th TT and i'm certain he will retire after this TT.
Ive always wondered whether he would want to pass Dunlop or if he retired one before. The thing is he hasn't got 3 more wins in him.

I find it quite erie that every year these guys attend and race knowing that on average 6 of them will die and they don't know who it will be. When some of the people who don't make it out of there are the most experienced you know that they're all going full on as soon as the flag drops. When you break it down its pretty fking insane.
Where do you get your average of 6 a year from? - At the TT there have been 263 rider deaths in 102 race meetings...........
