Hey Andy. I’m about to pull the trigger on an Altmill MK2 having gone back and forth comparing it to the OneFinity for a while now. However, do you recommend this machine over the Altmill? Thanks in advance for any guidance you can offer. Appreciate your content.
I bought a Genmitsu 4030 Prover 1. Have had to upgrade it quite a bit over the last 3 years and have spent as much as I would have going with a more expensive machine to start with. On the fence about upgrading to either Shapoko or Onefinity. Do you have experience with both or recommendations. Clearly from this video you seem to prefer Shapoko. Seems both cost about same.
I agree Shapeko seems to be great machines, it is actually how I found your channel. I was interested in getting a CNC but actually bought a desktop Diode laser instead. Then someone gave me a free Bob's CNC E3. Which I have done a couple projects on and is a great way to learn some basic CNC. Someday when I am ready I will probably get a Shapeko.
I’m on the fence between the 5 Pro and the Elite. My first was one of the first Shapeoko units and I liked it. But that was like 5 years ago. I also had a Onefinity. I liked both, but two different machines. Now, the 5 Pro and Elite are direct competition of each other. So why would you pick the 5 Pro over the Onefinity? The Onefinity offers ATC and vacuum hold-down and those two are huge value adds.
Great video and excellent series!
Glad you liked it!
I have the shapeoko 4 XXL and the only thing I strongly recommend not using the basic carbide router upgrading to the VFD / HDZ is the only way to go is worth the $1300 and getting the 3 d program is well worth it also use the 3 d part alot
Couldn't agree more. Thanks for sharing

Any experience with Anolex evo ultra? Seems to have a better features for the momey than anything else I've found.
I just know nothing about toolpath programs yet.
Tinkercad and running a 3d printing business for years just need to take the plunge.
I'd consider that machine to be a budget machine. I talk about this in this video th-cam.com/video/rGwhePDBeHc/w-d-xo.html
@AndyBirdBuilds Is there anything better you'd suggest for same price?
No. Consider saving some more $$$. If you do go the budget route, just make sure your expectations are in line with a budget machine
@@AndyBirdBuilds What makes it a budget machine besides slightly smaller cutting area?
The Build components appear to be better bang fir the buck. No belts and 1500 watt spindle for a lot less money than a shapeoko.
I would recommend a onefinity elite series cnc. It has everything the shapoko has except it is made in Canada and it is a little more expensive than the shape 4 but about the same as the pro. Comes in 32x32, 32x48, 48x48.
I agree. Onefinity and Shapeoko are the only units I'd recommend to any beginner.
It does not have everything a Shapeoko does. They don't make their own software.
@@AndyBirdBuildsI think vetric is the standard. It’s nice the company has a starting point but it’s better to learn your final software vs having to relearn all over once you want a little more out of the software.
I respectfully disagree. If you put everything together, ground up, the One Finity and Altmill (other than coming from Canada), are both better overall. Personally, the Altmill is hard to beat and about $1500 less than 1F, and their FB group and customer service are 2nd to none.
Nope, the onefinity has excessive backlash due to its design. It's between the Altmill and the shapeoko. You're gonna have to wait half a year to get an Altmill shipped. Shapeoko it is if you can't wait.
@ I was one of the first Altmill customers and even as a brand new machine, it has been flawless. Most other YT’ers are all bragging about the Altmill. Usually it comes down to Altmill or 1F, Shapeoko never is mentioned in most of them. But respectfully disagree unless you’ve used an Altmill.
@AndyBirdBuilds I can't stand when influencers say they're not being paid to do a video, then proceed to say that a company sent them a tool free of charge. The very fact that you did not pay for that machine is a form of payment.
The only way you can make that statement is if you paid for the machine yourself.
With that said, I believe you're an honest person, which is why I subscribe, but people need to understand that receiving a free gift is a form of payment, which can represent a conflict of interest.
Like I said in the video, I was not paid to make this video. I have zero commitment to make any content regarding Shapeoko or any other CNC machine. I think my story speaks for itself when it comes to Shapeoko. I was simply being transparent.
