The groove is called a fuller in English. Sometimes referred to as a blood groove they are usually put in to lighten the blade.

I have seen knives like that over here. The older Finns have them and use them the same way you describe. I've seen the old guys using what I woild consider wonderful old treasures to do all kinds of odd jobs. They are just a tools to these old guys. Its actually sometimes hard to see, being a knife guy myself. I think I tend to see knives in a different way than the average guy...
I am encouraged to hear the Mora 'bashing' by the way. For some reason, it really bothers me what they're doing... Not sure why I should even care, but I do, fo some reason....
    Another interesting video. 👍🇨🇦

I see knives also differently. Has been really nice going through stuff here and finding treasures(where others wouldn’t). Just found this morning a nice gem of a knife and will do a video of it today. If your’ re a Finn and living in the countryside, you just have puukkos, and know at least something about them, lol. Like my relatives here in the island, who aren’t knife guys like me.
Yeah, cant help myself, will continue my Mora bashing, so frusturated with them, and they need a wake up call. My opinion is meaningless, but if enough people criticize them, maybe would make a difference. Doubt it though.
      Thanx for watching!

    Blood groove or fuller.
