It was this ad that got him the job as a werewolf in London!

Just me...but commercials were MUCH better back in the day than they are now. I can remember the old Miller Light(Tastes Great...Less Filling) commercials from back in the 80's...they just don't get them like that anymore!

Yes it is just you. I don’t think the majority of Americans want to see corporations hocking their cheap products at us with full Broadway singalongs

Ads like this were few and far between even back then. It required an agency with the creativity to create it and a client with the courage and sense of humor to ok it.

Did you know Barry Manilow actually wrote this song? Before he became famous, that's what he did. He also wrote for McDonald's, Burger King, Boston Market and Long John Silvers.

Everytime I see these old Dr. Pepper commercials back in the late 70’s, it reminds of the Seattle SuperSonics winning the NBA Championship in 1979! #BringEmBack

Let's see, that ad was filmed in:
    NYC
    New England Coast
    Mid West
    New Orleans French Quarter
    Rocky Mountains
    Texas
    San Francisco.
I visualize this as being quite expensive to make.

    • @milesbrown2
      @milesbrown2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So
      NYC- yes
New England Coast- no( California coast)(Eureka)
      Mid West- no( central California)
New Orleans French Quarter - Yes, during Hurricane
Rocky Mountains - No, California mountain range.
      Texas- No, Bakersfield.
      San Francisco- absolutely
I was 21 years old when I worked on these spots and drove up and down the coast of California and to New Orleans and NY.
I saw David Naugton at Monsterpaloosa in Burbank California about five years ago and we hung out and talked about those times working on those commercials.

@@milesbrown2 Thanks for this detail! I grew up in Texas and was surprised even as a kid when these commercials hit the air. Dr Pepper was from Waco, after all (no dancing allowed!). That said, the company was based in Dallas by the time this campaign was purchased, shot, and rolled out.

That was sad but I have to say it was his own fault. In London Sherlockian style, he had put the pieces together, knew what his near future was going to be and did nothing to alleviate the situation. And left Jessica 5 a widow and without even so much as a child. What a jerk!
