I remember eating at the "kids" table and looking forward to eating at the "adult" table. lol - memories from a large Italian family.

I never minded the kids’ table at grandma’s but yes, many look forward to the adult table. Thank you for sharing that memory!

I love the old time Christmas carols! My memories center around my mom and I making sugar cookies and candy. This is the 2nd Christmas without my mom and it's still pretty hard. My 17 year old daughter and I made my mom's sugar cookie recipe yesterday and sang along to an old time Christmas song Playlist I found on TH-cam. It was so nice to do that with her as we reminisced about baking with my mom. We shed a few tears, but also had lots of laughs and some tasty treats to share with family and friends. I think it brought a little bit of healing to our grieving hearts to do it together.
Merry Christmas and God Bless you and your family!

    Happy Sunday Bonita. 🌟
Delicious Christmas menu that you planned out! 😋 I was getting hungry just listening to you say garlic shrimp scampi. Lol
The house looks so cozy and Christmas is definitely in the air!
Hope your brother is doing well in nursing home. He must have felt so happy receiving the zucchini bread you made for him. 😊
We have traditional foods at Christmas!

I was born in the early fifties and so remember alot of the nostalgia, like waking up to go to church for the midnight service. The christmas yard with the tree in the middle and the train running around the outside. For the past few years I make a lasanga to take to our daughter's who hosts Christmas. Merry Merry to you and yours'!

Thank you for sharing your holiday memories. I remember caroling and those silver Christmas trees...our next-door neighbor had one! We do a brunch on Christmas morning instead of a big Christmas dinner. Although I am craving a ham this year! You dinner menu sounds spectacular! Merry Christmas and enjoy!

Yes, I remember our silver Christmas tree/color wheel very well! My mom chose ball ornaments (blue only). I don't remember our other Christmas trees! This year, my husband's family changed up the menu, too. I brought a crockpot full of chili and homemade cranberry sauce. A niece brought beans with several different kinds of sausages in it. It was a much simpler pantry meal, and nobody was tasked with doing everything. An observation: I'm not seeing as many people out shopping as usual. I know I'm not shopping much, either, but that's my norm. I was wondering if others are seeing that, too. Merry Christmas, all!

Our Christmas dinner plan is similar to yours. We're going to have pasta with shrimp and pesto, and garnished with cherry tomatoes. I think the colors will look so festive; delicious too! Garlic bread and our daughter's salad will round it out.
I haven't decided on a dessert yet, but it will definitely be simple and easy, lol 😂! Merry Christmas to you!

We will be having a traditional turkey & ham at my youngest daughter’s home Christmas Eve. For Christmas Day, we will be having a roast beef with mashed potatoes, turnip, green beans, gravy, horseradish and a bottle of Valpolicella (Italy) wine. For dessert, we will have either apple or pecan pie. For New Year’s Day, we will have ham, scallop potatoes, beets and Brussels sprouts, a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon wine (South African) and chocolate cake for dessert. I will be watching the classic Rudolph, Frosty, A Christmas Carol as well as The Man who invented Christmas”. I love the old Christmas carols, but the one I really like to sing is Winter Wonderland. Wishing you and yours a very merry Christmas from Canada.

I am definitely scaling it back this year. The kids requested homemade mac n cheese. That’s absolutely easy and affordable and I have the stuff on hand. Also, we’re going to do a lasagna. Have the stuff on hand for that and I always like to make some sort of big meals that will last us a couple days. I used to make Thanksgiving dinner on Christmas Day. Absolutely not. I’m not doing all that😂

It is a lot to do that big meal both holidays and we have found that after we eat leftovers for a week, we would prefer something else at Christmas 🤗

My mom would make homemade spaghetti sauce that would cook all night in the “deep well” in the stove. For you younger folks, it was a pre cursor to a crockpot. All the kids help by grinding all the veggies that went in the sauce. Not a traditional dinner, to say the least, but we really looked forward to it.

We had the spinning wheel lights also and it was so much fun to watch. I'm just cooking a ham, collard greens and potato salad. 😋

I'm doing a pretty easy Christmas menu myself. I am making a Cajun chicken and shrimp penne pasta dish and then garlic Texas toast and Caesar salad. Hoping my daughter's offer to bring desserts if not I will have to run out and pick up some desserts.

I like to do lasagna for Christmas...I have also done a crockpot full of pulled pork with nice buns.....we do very simple sides....Honestly, I could never make my turkeys or ham look anything like the Norman Rockwell paintings and would end up serving the meat in slices on a platter, instead.😊....so, seriously, why not have something simple that can be made ahead? I've had no complaints and there is a lot more time to visit this way.😊

I've got my Christmas menu purchased. Unfortunately because of a smoke incident with the wood stove that ended up filling our house with smoke and having to call 911 for the fire department last wednesday. We have not been able to decorate yet. We were not at home at the time. And we're not supposed to be home for another hour but through a series of events we came home an hour early. Our dog was trapped in the house but we were able to get her out she was okay. Praise the Lord that it did not burst into flames. I hope we get our tree up tomorrow. Just have some envelopes to deal with money to put in and be all set. My husband started a fire in our wood stove and we did not know that the chimney pipe going to the outside of our house had come undone. And for 2 hours smoke was pouring into our home. The fire department was able to help us out and they also came back later in the evening to check us for carbon monoxide poisoning but we were doing fine. It will actually take us months to recover from everything. Our insurance company will have to pay thousands of dollars to a Restoration company to clean our house from top to bottom in order for us to get rid of the smoke that was in our home. It must have been a faulty pipe because it was installed properly. I have had friends call it a Christmas miracle
