Hey folks, sorry about the twitchyness of the video, I got a new *"GAMER MOUSE"* and I didn't notice how high the dps was, it apparently adjusts it's self somehow so I'll fix that for the next video.
This video conjured multiple different emotions from me, longing for times past, nostalgia for the hours of youthful enjoyment, surprise at some details I hadn't noticed and contentedness for all the ones I had. You're video was an excellent tribute to this magnificent map, well done. 👏👍
Exploring gmod maps like this has always given me such a profound sense of loneliness. The silence and sheer emptiness just makes me feel like all the world is gone and it’s just me.
Wrythe kinda sad when most of your life you watched people play gmod and it makes you laugh, but when you play it for yourself you realize it wasn’t the game the game that made you happy... it was the people
When playing gmod not only do I get this loneliness, but everything seems dead, like the universe has come to a close. All the walls have that off-white tone, alien noises ring out in the distance. Every building is completely undecorated. It's just unsettling
I love the “abandoned,”, “empty” feeling of these sandbox gmod maps. Quite a unique feeling. This is place is for a crowd of people, yet nobody is here. You imagine how things would play out and how fun it would be, but there is no-one around to play with. Years ago I enjoyed walking in these virtual empty spaces searching for secrets and cool stuff, this video brings back memories
Seeing this map makes me sad. Just the amount of love and dedication someone put into one single map and that in a time where Garrys Mod wasn't even a full game. I miss these times. 2008 Internet were good times.
@@kingofbeingfirstonthatchap3513 I watched zuthar13 videos of gmod when I was like 8 and I thought I would have fun adventures like him. Turns out gmod isn't a welcoming place to small children with high pitched voices, and I was relentlessly bullied. To top it off I overshared about personal stuff which just made me more of an easy target. Tl;dr I was an annoying squeaker who didn't shut the fuck up and was unfunny.
This map is very interesting. It’s a technical marvel considering it has little to no extra scripting. The map is very nice to play in single player and it has a variety of things to do
This is probably the most "GMod" GMod map that there is... you can do pretty much any activity, it has full AI noding, it has way more scripting than most maps would ever think to have, everything is just generally well-crafted to a ludicrous extent its curious to imagine what this dude would be doing today if he kept mapmaking.
This is oddly sad... it reminds me of all those sleepless nights as a teenager where I'd make up my own adventures exploring GMod maps like Mobenix all alone, pretending to hang out with imaginary friends and stuff. I was a weird kid. Then I grew up, went to college, got a girlfriend, joined the Marines... my life is so much different now and I can't tell you how much I miss the simplicity of the good old days. In a way it feels like yesterday but in truth it was almost a decade ago. Jesus.
Ahahaha you should see what didn't make it into the map. It is very close to what source engine can handle so a lot got cut to make the map playable... It is a prime example of feature creep. And don't look at the horrible Lua code for the door controller not my best work. But on the plus side it behaves almost bacterial like. To get rid of those you need to remove all of them in the same tick or they restore each other ;-) I'm amazed that is still that playable after all that time.
why is this gmod map that was made 8 years ago more detailed and has more depth than any map from current day gmod? Like holy crap this map is so ahead of its time and I’m definitely here for it.
Mobenix was a criminally underrated map, probably one of the best sandbox maps to come out of the game. It's like the natural end of Gmod: someone set out to create a Swiss Army map with numerous built-in secrets and features, but still left things open-ended enough to allow user input and creation. A little something for everyone: the sandbox players, the physics and wire experimenters, the roleplayers, the car builders, the boat builders, the train builders, all these little Gmod niches being catered to in one map. To be that big and still look that good and polished is an incredible feat in itself. I always hated that for a map kind of passed-over as it is, the roleplaying features of it were utilized the least (especially considering the Dark RP/Sandbox hybrid modes that sometimes popped up), those little details like the theft-prevention system and the turnstile locks were fun additions. Guess that was the big flaw of Mobenix, besides getting butchered by updates: it had no clear direction one way or the other. Probably my favorite map in the game when all's said and done, I never could find anyone running it in a coherent, populated server. Even then, I'd sometimes just boot it up in singleplayer just to explore and mess around on it. Once endured a Brony-themed server just to get the chance to play on it with other people.
Unless there was another active around that time using that map, you may have played on the server I manage. If that was the case, I'll let it slide that you said "endure" - I know we've had our fair share of mingebags who love to ruin everyone else's fun, so maybe that was why you found the experience poor?
@@cheatsenabled1662 Oh no, might or might not have been you - even then, no offense to you or the way you guys manage your servers. Minges are minges. I mean honestly, thanks for keeping that map afloat. It's been a hot minute since I've even played Gmod though, so I really wouldn't remember much about the server.
Anyone remember those weird single player maps back in the day? It was a series of almost psychedelic dream-like maps based on traversing through a linear level, occasionally fighting enemies along the way. The titles were always something strange like "Paraphobia" or something.
there is always something haunting about these maps clearly made for a certain group of people. You can tell a lot of effort went into these maps, more effort than most. But you also see hints of someone's personality in it as well. the two easter egg rooms, the gnomes driving all the automated things, the elevator trap, the exploding g-man, the small segments clearly designed after a typical RP server. this was made for a group of friends. i can imagine the group exploring the map in the beta versions. one of the testers goading another person who is here for the first time to go in the elevator with the gnome, followed by laughter emanating from those with mics. people designing cars both functional and silly and racing them. the few people who break windows so much the maker installed a reset window switch. them holding bowling contests as someone played the bouncy ball song in the dance room behind them. but when you boot up this map alone. it feels abandoned. there is nostalgia for something you never had. you may not know if the group this was made for is still around. but even if they are, they aren't here. it's just you alone in this expansive and lovingly made playground.
Pretty much my feelings on many of these Source maps, it makes me feel like I'm late to a party that ended many years ago. These places are mostly forgotten relics of the past decade and everyone involved has moved on, but there's a strange, sad beauty to them. You wonder what the place must have been like during it's prime, how many friendships were made messing around there, and where everyone moved on to.
Playing garry's mod again as an adult was seriously one the most nostalgic experiences of my life. Everything about it. The HL2 siren sound effects on RP maps, the quiet ambiance of gm_construct, the gm_construct skybox, the secret room on gm_construct, just gm_construct in general, the old rp_downtown_v2 map, the ragdoll physics of the ragdolls, building a quiet but sturdy base in DarkRP, getting raided, raiding, screaming through the microphone, getting banned, and finally; downloading maps and sweps to test on rp_amsterville :,) I miss the feeling of playing this game when I was 12
I think the thing that I love the most about this map is the clear childlike wonder and imagination of the developer (childlike in the sense that it’s 2011 again and it’s their first map). A bowling alley, a racetrack, an exploding gman firework... They’re all ideas that feel like they came from someone entirely new to mapmaking, and it all has so much passion put into it.
@@knowklelowbody7505 Hell yeah like..everything is so empty. Not abandoned just..empty. Most maps have that eerie yet nostalgic HL2 ambiance like the Combine vehicles when clearly nothing is there. So odd..
It’s a pretty nice feeling, gets boring after a while but hey! mobenix is actually not bad.. i’d play on it for hours! especially if i played it with my bro.
this map is the map i've spent the most hours in, and what got me to my 800 hours in gmod. i say this is the most "gmod" map out of every map i've played. i love the interactivity in maps and it's what makes a map memorable to me
It feels so weird watching this years later after the map was made, and probably after people stopped using it. You are impressed at the size, complexity, and detail in this map, knowing it was made for a group of people that were tight. Knowing the hours spent on this map, people having the time of their life doing almost anything they wanted. Plus the Garry's Mod aesthetic and the fact the map looks so homely, yet so barren. Its like seeing a ghost town, but not run down or destroyed, just.. Empty. Its like nostalgia by osmosis. You KNOW something wonderful happened here, but not to you; However you still feel like you know it, somehow. Sorry for commenting an essay, But GMod always gets me nostalgic even though i have barley 100 hours in it. I would pay good money to have a night spent on this map back in 2008, The boys on a server, just having a blast. The people who got to experience this map, when its populated, are a lucky bunch.
Its a beautiful game for sure, even now every once in a while I'd download some random large map and take my time exploring it in singleplayer. Its interesting seeing all of the structures that were made to serve a purpose to someone. The isolated feeling these huge empty maps bring is amazing, it can even be scary at times too. Whenever someone talks about horror games like No Players Online that focus on a "ghost town server" atmosphere, I always think that nothing beats the real deal. Man, I didn't realize how much I still loved this game.
Yeah, I didn't see people play this map but somehow i know there is someones happy and priceless memory lying down here in this map. It feels really weird and nostalgic... I put almost 1000 hour on this game with my friends about 6-7 years ago. but i'am so glad that my friends are still with me and sometimes we just play garry's mod for reminder of our childhood. i luv my friends and love this game too.
Many many thanks for doing a video like this. This brought back a lot of good memories of the mapping process and months of alpha testing the map. I'm "On A Freak" one of the Alpha testers for the map. Fun fact, before there was Mobenix 3 there used to be a Mobenix v3 that was pretty much just v2 with more added stuff and a train system. The Bonus track with the :D Bouncy Ball music was actually my addition that Keks then integrated after we all had that song stuck in our heads for weeks. Another thing we changed based on feedback from all testers was the Easter Egg room. It used to be at the same place as on Mobenix 2, but we changed that room to look destroyed and the "fail" sound playing when entering the old room.
@@Whomobile It was very similar to this one. Just didn't had the automatic train at the time. It really was just Mobenix v2 with the train system going trough all the areas and more connections between the areas. Also in V2 there was a secret area that was accessible via a button on a tree in front of the Wooden lodge. In the older v3 version that was also still there, but with a shooting range mini game added that could be played.
@@Whomobile I was just going through my old mapping folders just now and i actually found some of the older Beta builds of Mobenix! With some lock there is the V2-3 Hybrid in it as well.
Fun fact: This map is what got me to buy g-mod. I don’t know why, but playing by yourself, alone in a world, is calming for me. Just running around and finding empty houses or a town is just nice. It’s just satisfying when you’re walking or driving around in an empty environment.
My fondest memories from my childhood are when my friends came over to my house, and we would explore some maps on my shitty laptop, or spawn a lot of star wars ships or just planes, then be the only one moving (It was like 2014, so there was no AI to contol the other ships) Oh and if you're wondering why we didn't play on a server, well my friends didn't have gmod
I spent so many hours on that map... God I miss those days... The simpler times... And the music you picked only suited the empty feeling I have thinking back. And in a strange way, I want to thank you for it.
Not gonna lie, I had a mighty strong powernap while watching this video. Calming voice plus the magic of gmod mapmaking is a beautifully serene combination. God, I wish I had friends to play such games with
Just so people are aware, when you see a sewer pipe like at 9:56 it's almost always just a 2d texture in any map. I've never been able to find the battery for this map legit before and it blows my mind that it was the solution
I used to be staff on a sandbox server that went through various phases, each marked by what map we were using. This map was one of them, and the map itself helped that 'phase' be an amazing one. gm_genesis is another great one.
There’s something so lonely about exploring old maps like this that you know won’t be played as much again. It’s a whole world that will be soon lost to time. Kinda gives me the feeling like youre the last human on earth
I haven't played this map. Heck, I don't even play Gmod that much. But seeing you explore this map feels... nostalgic, melancholic. A map this big and so rich with so much stuff to do, yet empty gives me a feeling of loneliness but also comforting and calming. I might boot up Gmod one of these days and download this map.
There’s something so nostalgic about this map. Like it used to be full of a clan of gamers, but now they’ve all moved on from G-Mod... got careers, started families and such.
Seeing all these maps is so weird today... Imagine just how much time people spent on this map. Not just creating it, but making friends. Spending their youth making friends and being a part of the clan when it existed, if it doesn't still. It feels so eerie to see servers empty to this extent, when you just know it used to be filled to the brim with people. Same effect as visiting abandoned places in real life, which really gives quite a different perspective on the world as a whole, if you really sit and think about it. I really appreciate you showcasing maps like this, because I remember I too used to be a part of a garry's mod community over a decade ago now... Makes me realize just how fast the years go by. Makes me further appreciate every moment I've got with the ones I care about, and the friends I've yet to make. Thank you @whomobile.
When i look at these quiet, empty and old garry's mod maps that i used to play with friends when i was a kid, i somehow feel nostalgia, loneliness and sadness at the same time because i feel like i'm lookin on a place that i grown up in and now this place is completely empty, unused Thank you garry's mod, thank you for being a part of forming a person that i am now, i will never forget you :')
I just played maps like these by my self for like 3 or 4 hours a day since my laptop could only play gmod and the other valve games and roblox lol everything else would be too slow to play
You did miss one thing. At the station where that gnome elevator is, there’s a wooden plank holding a broken piece of concrete. Basically if you break it the ground will shake and some of the ceiling lights would fall.
Oh man, I loved this map way back when. It's a really well-made map in my opinion, plenty of cool little things to do when you don't feel like building, tracks for train nerds, plenty of nice scenery that doesn't get in the way of building, and lots of interesting and varied playspaces for deathmatch kind of stuff. Like, that little area with the shop that has the one entrance and exit? That was always fun to turn into like, a fort, and to have people try to break into it, or to use it as a holdout against NPCs Hope the mapper sees these comments and sees how much he contributed to some good times.
This map gives me nostalgia, I remember a Polish youtuber making a series on that map called annoying (insert person here like neighbour, ironman, murderer), I still watch that series.
@@nortalf w sumie to większość jego filmów było dość nudnych jak je znowu obejrzałem, ale jego seria nocna praca i granie w tf2 nadal są dobre moim zdaniem.
Something about these specific types of maps makes me feel more at peace than isolated. There’s the whole thing about playing Gmod alone being spooky and very lonely, but some maps like this one honestly feel more peaceful to go through than anything, like a walk in a local park.
I dunno, playing solo growing up, I always felt like something I wasn't aware of was watching me or always around the corner waiting for me. Theres something about Source that really triggers the liminal space neurons in my brain
It reminds me of being a wee little itty baby playing Gmod after school. Still proud to have over 4,700~ hours, still play it sometimes. Mobenix_v3 went hard af.
One thing you missed was one of the pillars in the train station, it was broken and had a wooden plank in its place. If you broke it, the station would begin to rumble for a few seconds.
Never thought I would see this map again. Man, my friends and me played this map for so long... I remember building a base inside the desintegrators housing. Man... Gotta hold back these tears....
I think this unsettling empty feeling is because almost all gmod , even source maps are meant to be filled with players , buildings and all that jazz. Seeing them empty and lifeless will really feel odd and out of place. It’s a bit similar to the ‘strangely familiar places’ phenomenon
Yeah, HL2 was creepy, but it didn't usually feel lonely because of the npcs you could see walking around. In Gmod, they're not there unless you spawn them.
For some reason looking at pictures of Ruhr Valley in Germany gives me the same feeling that playing or seeing Gmod alone does. Maybe it just looks so abandoned and industrial
Oh my gosh. This was, and still is, one of my favourite GMod maps. There is so much variety, so many little touches, and charm to it that I still play on it to this day. I'm glad to see someone cover it relatively recently, and your style was very enjoyable to watch. It's kinda sad that the original developer no longer makes maps, but I'm glad they're doing well for themselves. Also, it's kinda crazy that, even after years of playing on this same map, there are _still_ things to discover. From that easter egg and fail room you showed, to things in the comments like the station collapse, things I've walked past time after time.
This video takes me back to some amazing memories. I remember playing on sandbox servers that ran this map when I was a kid. I remember being accused of mic spamming because I was singing and my voice was annoying, and me crying about it to my mom which just made things more cringy. I remember learning how to use wiremod on this map, where a good steam friend of mine taught me the ins and outs until i was ready to go out on my own and try and make something cool. I remember hosting large scale battles with other players where we'd rage at each other for using overpowered m9k weapons. I remember what it felt like having and endless amount of free time to do whatever I felt like doing. This game and by extension the video, makes me feel a deep amount of nostalgia. thank you
I can't believe I only just now found this series, this kind of stuff has always been fascinating to me and I've always wanted to see or make a series talking about random maps!
I gotta say, I really appreciate the atmosphere of these Weird Maps videos, your relaxed narration and the chill music make these perfect to watch during lunch break lol
When you started driving at 22:30. And that music started playing. I don't know what came over me. But I just started bawling. That sequence, I feel, perfectly embodies looking through your friend list and seeing "Last online: X years ago" over and over. A once greatly populated area now abandoned. I'm going through a bit of emotional and social withdrawal, and that sequence helped me just get over a breakdown. I miss my friends, but they're off doing bigger and better things. I know this will probably be buried in the comments, but... Everyone, just know that your friends care about you. Your family cares about you. That hobby you've been eyeing up for the last 3 years? Go for it, your friends and family will support you. And I will too. Grace, if you're reading this, I love you. Please come back. It's 2:30 AM and I start online school in 6 hours. Whomobile, you have made my day. Thank you. 9/17/20: 15 likes, huh? Thanks, guys. Just wanna remind y'all that we still care about you. Hang in there. It's all gonna be okay.
Man, this game is gonna be my childhood. I already have over 1000 hours in it, and so much more to come. Not for awhile though. My computer is from 2012, and my boot drive has failed and I cant buy a new one yet, nor can my dad cause he still has debt to pay. But there is a chance I will be able to boot up the game, because my dad used to fix computers, so he has dozens of HDD's lying around, so I might use one of those. Sure, it will be slower than my ssd, but at least I'll be able to play my beloved game again.
These videos are like visiting your home town and seeing the old playground you used to play on as a kid. It's nostalgic, yet kinda sad at the same time.
Damn, this map contains dozens of work and love put into it. I barely feel the energy which mapmaker has put into these little (or fckng HUGE) funny features

You forgot one thing, its a small thing but its one of my favorite parts. In one of the train stations, one that drops down from the elevators, there is a pillar held up by a plank, shooting the plank enough to break it causes a short power outage and the area to shake and rumble.
This map has so many childhood memories for me. I remember building railcarts with friends and claiming parts of the map. Racing with custom buggies and doing dance parties.
I remember playing this with my friends back in the day. Sitting at my desk for hours at my parents house. We would have battles with gun addons, battles with our own made mechs, races, base building, roleplaying. And just overall fucking about. We could spend hours playing garrysmod. It would only be late at night for me and my other friend though. Since our friend who used to host lived in America (we didnt). Staying up all night, even days when it probably wasnt optimal to sit up at 3am. This map was one of the ibggest parts of my childhood. And looking back at it now fills me with happyness, nostalgia but also some sadness. Knowing that my days with my buddies on this map are pretty much over, never to come back again. We started playing it when we were about 11 years old maybe. But as we grew older the usual happens. School got more intense, different time zones and schedules got in the way. Time for playing was slim to none at the time. We always used to say "Imagine when we graduate, we will have all the time in the world to play!". But that didnt turn out like we expected. Work was more than we imagined. Moving out we realized that staying up til 3 am in the morning on a tuesday wasnt going to help with work. And if the didnt do well enough at work, well, we wouldnt have anywhere to live. So work took over our lives, it has now been maybe over a year since I last talked to my friend in America. Me and my other buddy sometimes go to bars together and reminice. And we always say the same thing, "We should do that again sometime". The stories we made, battles we raged, and the friends we found. Nothing comes close. Thank you for making this video. This is something I will never forget, but sometimes need to be reminded of.
I’m in the same boat… Your comment has really made me feel that too… I just last year graduated and I’m currently in Pilots school getting a license. I remember the days I would just make trains and roleplay. I would love to meet the creator one day. But once work has token over, it will never stop. I can say gmod, minecraft and other games from the 2000-2009 era where a golden age in gaming. It’s time to turn out the lights and put out the fire for the finial time. Because this week I’m going to miss out on a single study to reminisce this map just for one more hour
I remember finding this map on Steam workshop like 3-4 years ago and spending countless hours on it with my bro. Truly a map unlike any other, love it.
This map just looks so relaxing. What I wouldn't give to go back to when it was popular, with dozens of players on a single server, playing out their own little daily routines. It definitely still has the opportunity for chaos and darker RP's, but that's the beauty of it (or at least, that's what I think) - It can be both a relaxing town RP, or something wilder. Personally I'd love to live out my wildest fantasies in that server... like getting a stable job, buying things, then putting those things in a house that I actually own and paid for. I know, really out there, huh?
I downloaded this map because I saw it on one video from 2016. When I was playing this map, I knew it's perfect for a lot of stuff. Imagine having RP server on this map. Apartments for players, dock area for working, train and taxi would be in use for players. It's also great for Sandbox gameplay with friends. Also it's weird that this video is showing up when I am returning to GMod.
I used to spend so much time on this map, watching this video feels like watching a paleontologist brushing off the dinosaur bones of my childhood. Knowing it's still out there makes me want to return to it with VRMod, especially with the bowling alley.
You know what I missed that was popular back in the days of GMod 9 especially? All the maps that had lua scripting and brush entities with all sorts of unique functions like especially rp_bahamut with the ship builder and such. 9 times out of 10, they also had jukeboxes of Half-Life 2 music.
My favorite gmod map ever! We spent days outfitting train stations with all sorts of wire stuff in multiplayer. I eventually built the most insane racing hoverbike ever which could complete 3 rounds of that race track in LESS time than it took the npcs to complete one round.
You've actually got me playing Gmod after all this time, originally I didn't care for the game and only put in about half an hour six years ago according to steam. But something about this slightly sad and nostalgic video made me want to experience this map for myself and now I've already clocked in five or so hours just messing about in it. I wonder what the original clan behind this place are all doing these days.
Those seemingly random black boxes are a common practice for mappers, where logic_relays,entities and such are placed in it. They serve no other purpose other than storing functions and features of a map in a normaly inaccessable place. It's used for keeping everything in one place, rather than having to look for something across the entire map, in case there is a bug in the map and you would want to fix that in the next version.
The Black box is actually a buffer zone for the tunnel placement. It stores some IO functions and houses all the possible tunnel variation that will get despawned on map spawn there. Its mainly there to prevent any baked light shadows appearing on the parts. How do i know this? I'm "On A Freak" one of the Alpha Testers and a friend of Sportkeks. :)
This is pretty nostalgic. Mobenix was always far and away the best sandbox map for just screwing around in. It has such a chill vibe, that made it fun to play with friends. It also just has a ton of crazy features I haven't seen in other maps. Like custom vehicles _built into the map._
I agree. I always find maps like these and wonder about the stories behind their creation. That's why I like the beginning of these videos because they talk about the backstory a little bit

It is very close to what source engine can handle so a lot got cut to make the map playable... It is a prime example of feature creep.
And don't look at the horrible Lua code for the door controller not my best work.
But on the plus side it behaves almost bacterial like. To get rid of those you need to remove all of them in the same tick or they restore each other ;-)

Description of online scams in general
When would you estimate that you played on the server you mention at the end of your comment?
@@cheatsenabled1662 Oh lord, it was a few years back. Around or before 2016, had to be.
Fair enough.

Anyone remember those weird single player maps back in the day? It was a series of almost psychedelic dream-like maps based on traversing through a linear level, occasionally fighting enemies along the way. The titles were always something strange like "Paraphobia" or something.
Yeah man those were fucking phenominal
steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=105358840
Map was paranoia, there were 2 others like it. Played through them recently. Huge nostalgia trip
there is always something haunting about these maps clearly made for a certain group of people.
Interesting that so many people in the comments feel like this after watching the video, myself included.
Nostalgia is a strange thing.
AN EMPTY MAP?? NOOOOOOOOO
Playing garry's mod again as an adult was seriously one the most nostalgic experiences of my life. Everything about it. The HL2 siren sound effects on RP maps, the quiet ambiance of gm_construct, the gm_construct skybox, the secret room on gm_construct, just gm_construct in general, the old rp_downtown_v2 map, the ragdoll physics of the ragdolls, building a quiet but sturdy base in DarkRP, getting raided, raiding, screaming through the microphone, getting banned, and finally; downloading maps and sweps to test on rp_amsterville :,)
I miss the feeling of playing this game when I was 12
I think the thing that I love the most about this map is the clear childlike wonder and imagination of the developer (childlike in the sense that it’s 2011 again and it’s their first map). A bowling alley, a racetrack, an exploding gman firework... They’re all ideas that feel like they came from someone entirely new to mapmaking, and it all has so much passion put into it.
There's something so eerie about Gmod maps when you're on single player..
Juice also kind of relaxing. So many hours in GMOD growing up, and my only real multiplayer experience being TTT it’s kinda of natural to me

@@jeo228 It's truly amazing how everyone at some point has made a bathtub mobile.
Wow that's really interesting! thanks for the info!
How did the train system look compared to this maps?
@@Whomobile It was very similar to this one. Just didn't had the automatic train at the time.
It really was just Mobenix v2 with the train system going trough all the areas and more connections between the areas. Also in V2 there was a secret area that was accessible via a button on a tree in front of the Wooden lodge. In the older v3 version that was also still there, but with a shooting range mini game added that could be played.
@@Whomobile I was just going through my old mapping folders just now and i actually found some of the older Beta builds of Mobenix! With some lock there is the V2-3 Hybrid in it as well.

My fondest memories from my childhood are when my friends came over to my house, and we would explore some maps on my shitty laptop, or spawn a lot of star wars ships or just planes, then be the only one moving (It was like 2014, so there was no AI to contol the other ships)

Playing GMod is unsettling, like you're the last man on Earth but you still feel like something's watching you play.
gman is everywhere
gman even watches you sleep
thats why they added exploding gman, to show that "here is the guy that watches you, and here he is the guy that exploded. the end."
This map was one of them, and the map itself helped that 'phase' be an amazing one. gm_genesis is another great one.
that little black void box above the tunneling system was also good for administrative uses
Sandbox servers are hell
There’s something so lonely about exploring old maps like this that you know won’t be played as much again. It’s a whole world that will be soon lost to time.
Kinda gives me the feeling like youre the last human on earth
I really love your weird maps series, man. There's just something about the feeling of old empty maps.

Mobenix was my absolute favorite map playing Gmod back in the day. Like, it just seems like the level designers got carried away. And I love it.
exploring a map in gmod, alone is pretty calming and sometimes kind of depressing
When i look at these quiet, empty and old garry's mod maps that i used to play with friends when i was a kid, i somehow feel nostalgia, loneliness and sadness at the same time because i feel like i'm lookin on a place that i grown up in and now this place is completely empty, unused
Thank you garry's mod, thank you for being a part of forming a person that i am now, i will never forget you :')

I just played maps like these by my self for like 3 or 4 hours a day since my laptop could only play gmod and the other valve games and roblox lol everything else would be too slow to play
I love it when maps have secret rooms that can only be found through scrounging.
@Alex H. the Gmod map Area 51 has a secret admin room that does the same thing
You did miss one thing. At the station where that gnome elevator is, there’s a wooden plank holding a broken piece of concrete. Basically if you break it the ground will shake and some of the ceiling lights would fall.
Ah ok, didn't know that
Amazing choice in music, perfectly fits the comfortable isolation of singleplayer sandbox maps
What a classic map. I can remember messing with the race track on this with friends. I can also remember how intense the hdr was on this map, lol.
That was always fun to turn into like, a fort, and to have people try to break into it, or to use it as a holdout against NPCs
Hope the mapper sees these comments and sees how much he contributed to some good times.

Something about these specific types of maps makes me feel more at peace than isolated. There’s the whole thing about playing Gmod alone being spooky and very lonely, but some maps like this one honestly feel more peaceful to go through than anything, like a walk in a local park.

I don't feel that because I always play gmod in singleplayer
Yeah I think they call it "Liminal Space"
Yeah, HL2 was creepy, but it didn't usually feel lonely because of the npcs you could see walking around. In Gmod, they're not there unless you spawn them.
For some reason looking at pictures of Ruhr Valley in Germany gives me the same feeling that playing or seeing Gmod alone does. Maybe it just looks so abandoned and industrial
This is one of the most "gmod" maps out there
I would love to see more Garry's Mod maps in this series. They have an odd sense of familiarity, nostalgia, and even a bit of creepiness.

I swear I've played this map a thousand times yet I've never seen this before. I just get such a strong sense of familiarity idk how to explain it.
How are you even walking 2 steps without jumping? For some reason whenever I play gmod I always jump when I'm walking..

I feel you...
I’m in the same boat… Your comment has really made me feel that too… I just last year graduated and I’m currently in Pilots school getting a license.
I know, really out there, huh?
i will never forget Ruu's Playground. a server that often ran this server. it was a large part of my history and childhood.
It's always kinda surreal watching this stuff, as I feel like I'm learning the history of an abandoned city or something.

I wonder what the original clan behind this place are all doing these days.
i wonder if they still keep in touch or if they still have each other in contacts
this is the main map of plish series ''co ziutek trzyma w kieszeni'' he was a hero of my childhood
Gmod single player is an accurate portrayal of my mind and soul
Bloody hell, 30 minutes of a Garry's Mod map?
Count me in
ngl this map makes me wanna cry it's just so innovative and nostalgic y'know
youre sad over nothing
@@hanger3415 shut up
@@hanger3415 you piece of shit
something about the music choice and how empty the map is gives me a profound sadness.
reminds me of myst but more chill.
Hey do you remember Evocity 2? Map was so advanced you needed a console command before loading it but man I let was so worth it
The person who made this map really knew how to use SDK
dude this aint a map, it's an entire world of it's own
This used to be the go-to map for me and my friends back when we were like 14... brings back so many memories...
ive played this map for hours with my friend back then
the man behind the map deserves a drink from me these days
same here. agreed.
@@Freak-On-A-Leash *_and I'm a mapper for the past 10 years_*
Nice to meet you!
10:15 I was honestly expecting bearded expense to be t-posing in the middle of the room as the lights went on
LOL
This is pretty nostalgic. Mobenix was always far and away the best sandbox map for just screwing around in. It has such a chill vibe, that made it fun to play with friends. It also just has a ton of crazy features I haven't seen in other maps. Like custom vehicles _built into the map._
Exploring old G-Mod maps by yourself feels all weird and dreamlike, I think it's liminal spaces? same goes for old websites.
i feel the amount of care and work that went into these maps is underappreciated
I agree. I always find maps like these and wonder about the stories behind their creation. That's why I like the beginning of these videos because they talk about the backstory a little bit
