Interesting that you don't use a zipper foot when installing. I love that twisting of the lining to make it all machine stitched and even less hand stitching.

How do you keep the edges from unraveling
Depending on the material I use pinking shears, fry check and sometime zigzag the raw edges together.
There is no side slit on the long gown. I is impossible for her to walk in that gown.
It would be hard to walk in this. A slit could easily be left in one of the seams if desired.
