Fantastic channel. Current Hvac student and I feel I’m learning more from these videos than in class. The accelerated course is good for hurry up into the field but it leaves much out for actual learning.
Helpful video . I got one wire in the common terminal. But moved it to the right place and it solved my problem. Next time I will take a photo of the wiring.

I’ve worked in hvac for a little while and I recently received a nice ventless gas fireplace for free and it works ! But I want it on a t stat ! I’ve looked everywhere ! Thank you I think this will work for me I’m an electrician mostly lol so one lead from the transformer to the valve and the other lead from the transformer to the t stat for 24V I’m going to guess that lead goes to the RED on the t stat ?
My pilot light has been off for approximately one month and cannot get gas to flow to the pilot. I have the same vr800a 1020 model as you have in the video. Should I use a torch to heat up the thermo couple and hope it sends a signal to the solenoid for it to open?
My flame keeps cycling on and off and I narrowed it down to the position of the pilot assembly which kicks the flame on and off if it's not in just the right spot which I adjust by repositioning the stiff yellow, green and white wires going to the sensor. Does the pilot flame sensor fail by producing insufficient voltage if it's not in the very hottest part of the flame? Or am I just dealing with a bad electrical connection in the sensor?
I have an old garage heater, natural gas. Was in there when I bought the house. It has the similar setup as your video except without the safety device. Also has a fan in the unit. Have no idea what the brand is. I installed a heat only thermostat new recently. The furnace heats to temp then shuts down like it should but fires up every few minutes. Sometime just the fan starts and runs, shuts down and then it fires the gas back up retriggering the fan as well. Sound normal?

So I need help wiring my Trane Unit heater to a Robert Shaw 712 series Pilot ignition system, I have followed the instructions included for the gas valve and ignition control, however it doesn't provide the wiring diagram to connect the wires from the transformer and the Trane unit itself, the transformer has 3 wires, a black, white & blue, the Trane unit has 3 wires also, red, white & black. Also would need the T-state connections. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you,

I’ve been trying to find a 120V wire or transformer but don’t look like there’s one.. just wondering if this set up would work on any gas furnace? Thinking about to buy all parts and make the full set up from the start
So the terminal posts sitting on the valve do not go internally into the valve and they are just posts and when remove their wires to measure resistance you get ohm infinity? And that means you could use any terminal label so why use TR or th so what are those stand for and why are those names used? Reason I ask because I measured Th to TR 43 ohms? so I would think a wire should go into the pilot solenoid by way of one of these terminals internally for my intermittent spark s86f module. I already watched your s86f video. So I'm thinking the externally wired coil is the pilot coil is 16 ohms since that's where PV connection to th/tr and returning on Tr. So the internal main coil which MV is connected to which is across th and TR is 43 ohms and is wired internally, although I can't see the internal wires.
does this valve works the same as those dual intermittent pilot gas valves that use with intermittent spark ignition module? i was working on a york RTU with two gas valves. the terminals on the gas valve were TR, TH/TR, TH. the TH/TR was connected to PV of ignition module. the TH was connected to MV of the module. the TR was connected to ground. if i were to measure from TH/TR to TR i should get 24vac to open the pilot gas correct? and if measured from TH to TR i should get 24vac to open main valve for burner correct? so does this mean this gas valve has two coils? one for pilot gas and one for main burner? thank you.
Since this system runs on 24V AC -- that's AC -- how can there be a "hot" or a "ground" (as stated in your video) when the voltage is AC, where there's no such thing? My system uses a 24VAC step down transformer with a pair of floating output wires that are not hot or ground.
We are trying to install a eco bee thermostat. We have an extra wire running through to the old thermostat that is not being used now and need to make it into a common C wire. where would a person connect it too on here? We have similar TH terminals. Thank you

Hi there i have an old style gas valve the pilot stays lit but want light the flames i have 24 volts from my old 2 wire thermostatic i have gas coming in but not coming out to the main burner thru the valve please help.

Is it possible to use the DC low voltage generated by the thermocouple to power the thermostat, thus having a self powered appliance, which would not be affected by a power outage? In a set up like that, how would the common be wired?
So my pilot light stays lit, bit there is no gas flow. This is an out door heater that runs on natural gas. All but 2 light and work. Replace Thermal Couplers, thinning maybe it would fix it. It did not.
I was waiting for something to catch fire lol. I have an off the wall question. I've been in the field for 5ish years and have always used fieldpiece meters etc. Is UEI just a personal preference or is there a legitimate reason why you would rather UEI over fieldpiece meters?
Those are the only 3 I would use. It was just what I started with and that meter is very inexpensive but great quality. I tend to use tools that new techs could easily afford and start off with so thats why, thanks!

Some older systems with combination gas valves, millivolt gas valves break the power before it makes it to the tstat with the safety. Obviously newer systems with relay controls and boards never drop power to the tstat so yes I know in that way it doesnt look like newer systems, thanks Rattler!

If you jumper between the two wont the gas valve open?

You would just use a nonpowered stat or one with batteris. They cannot be powered with the dc millivolts, thanks

I have never used the product. All of my supply houses I use carry fieldpiece or fluke and readily available. So that is all I ever bought.
