@@iangubeliI read the fault in our stars and was obsessed with it for the longest time as a teen, but as an adult I realized that the way the 2 main characters talk to each other in a way that nobody in real life talks to each other
I’m an hour away from finishing Love and Other Words, and I agree with you, Macy is not a likable character. It definitely feels like Elliot is her comfort blanket from childhood and she can’t let go.
Yes!! I love when people get their stereotype of romance novels checked! They’re not all fluffy smut! Many out there we deeper and very interesting! I’m so glad he does this! Also yay he read seven year slip!
I loved that book but I agree I see why people can hate that book especially for me I didn’t see anyone saying how sad and dark the book was I thought it was a cute summary read
This was a fun idea for the month of February. I don't typically read the romance genre only because I usually see the miscommunication trope used too much and I don't like it. I always tell myself with being in a relationship myself communication is the most important thing. I enjoyed The Seven Year Slip I have not read any of others but I have heard of them. Hope you had an enjoyable Valentine's Day and a fun reading month so far.
THANK YOU!!! I read Love & Other Words because it felt like everyone loved that book but for similar reasons that you mentioned I also gave it a two stars on GR. My Hubby and I love your videos and are currently reading the Witcher Series together per your amazing review of Geralt of Rivia and we are just having so much fun reading these books😊
I absolutely enjoyed love and other words it's one of my favorite reads by Christina Lauren great idea doing this ian would love for you to do this again you I do have some recommendations 🤔😊
Thanks for this video. I love how open-minded you went into this genre that you dont regularly read. I am glad you enjoyed them. I started a book club with my sister and she chose Just For the Summer. Romance is one of my least favorite genres, so I have been working on changing my mindset to give the book a fair chance before I start.
Another BANGER!!!!!! Heckin yea Ian! It always makes me so happy when I see that u posted a video it genuinely makes my day every time. You inspire me to read more and always put me in the reading mood!!!! God bless Ian!
Great video Ian! I loved Love and Other Words, but i didn't really vibe with Macy as a character even though i didn't dislike her or anything. This was so fun! Ashlynn picked some great books
Another great video! I recently discovered yours and Ashlynns channel and have been bingewatching your videos ever since! You guys are so down to earth and just seem so kind and fun, that I really enjoy watching them. I never really liked watching booktube videos because I could never connect with the people, but now I found you guys and really really enjoy it, even though you guys (for the most part) don’t even read the same novels! :D I am even considering branching out into the genres now haha
I just finished The seven year slip and surprise you post a video talking about it 🥰 Love the videos where you switch books or read each other's books ❤
Iiiiiiaaaaannnnnnn! I’m back, baby! Loved, loved, loved the video, just as I always did, always have and always will! Can’t say enough about everything I just watched; the vibe; the music; the books; the company! You’re an absolute star! Thank you so much for blessing uswith your creativity and sharing all that you do with us. Continue shining and striving! (I messaged you. Hopefully, you’ll get to it soon. The flags at end will give it away lol). 🇩🇰🇬🇧
Love this concept of you guys sharing each other's favourite books. As of right now, I am also reading a romance book. I hope the book I picked doesn't introduce the miscommunication problem. 😂 Hope you have a great day!
You can definitely taste a sound 😂 idk I think lust and love go hand in hand. You can have one without the other, but the kind of crazy love that is interesting to read, would have both. At least in my opinion lol
I agree with that. Contemporary romance with the kind of intense relationships they describe definitely have to ascribe each character some amount of lust.
Just finished this new, original collection of fairy tales, entitled 'Sillies, Fancies, and Trifles' - its perfect for the season. What's everyone else reading, I want some more recommendations to add to the lovely books shown here. Keep up the beautiful videos :)
Omgoshhhh I felt the exact same way about love and Other words to me it's a terrible book The revelation about the dad and what happened to the boy I forget his name (Eliot?) But they literally could've spoken for being such great friends who share favourite words imo such a silly and frustrating book. Best christina Lauren books is the soulmate equation
Wow! It's great to find someone who shares my opinion. I also think the best Christina Lauren book is The Soulmate Equation. I really dislike Love and Other Words, I thought Macy was insufferable
I was thinking the same thing as you Ian, it is nice that you give us a glimpse of these types of books but boy am I ready for you to dive into some grim dark! Forgetting Moon? Between Two Fires, perhaps?
I'm embarrassed to say that yes, as a teen I was so obsessive and it was definitely more of a lust thing than a love thing. Thankfully my hormones balanced enough for me to find an awesome hubby who I truly love 😅
I also just recorded (and hoping to have up tomorrow) my reading romance for a week vlog as well 😍 as I am not a huge romance reader and I also just read my first Emily Henry book "Book Lover's" and actually enjoyed it. I also read Ashley Poston's other book "Deadly Romantic's" and loved her writing style! It's definitely a genre I could turn to when I am stuck in a rut with Fantasy but I still love my Sci-Fi and Fantasy more 😁
I've never read a Christina Lauren book. That quote though 😂🙈. I definitely do not over romanticize everything... & that's probably why I'm not really a fan of romance books. If something annoys you, thats isnt going to stop just because you love someone... you just learn to live with it because you love them. Authors sometimes ignore that for tge fluff. Besides, I prefer something else in the plot (mystery, fantasy, etc.). I think its sweet you wanted to read some of the books Ashlynn loves. It was such a cute idea!
I wish authors would make it more realistic, too. They almost fetishize how people feel about out each other, and that’s it very honest. I, too, like something more to the story: fantasy, thriller, etc.
I would love ti recommend my favourite romance to you , which is Rosie project by graeme simsion , this novel change my idea about romance, like I'm someone don't give romance book more than 3 star but this was a five star read . If i should put this book in one line i would say that " love abd marriage isn't about the right person, it's about the person you're willing to do the work with them " This book change the way i see love and romance book.
You are sooo brave for doing this lol. My favorite book EVER is Dragon Mage by M L Spencer❤. It's such a great coming of age fantasy with an autistic man character.
Personally most romance books I try to read I DNF, most recently Emily Henry. The tropes were so over-done and don’t excite me at all. Props for attempting though! 😅
I find that many people and also in romance novels, lust is mistaken for love. Many people in fiction and IRL mistake physics intimacy as connection because of vulnerability that is there physically. Also unless you’re able to have emotional intimacy/connection with someone you don’t really know that person. You can’t build a relationship on chemical/hormonal reactions when you don’t have a foundation to build upon
Wife and I are both readers, she’s Romance/ Smut and I Fantasy / Fiction. Point is enjoy your own stuff, cross reading is unnecessary and better left alone… lol enjoy.
Do teenage girls over-romanticize? lol YES! I can only speak for myself of course, but as I have gotten older that has gone away. But the way things are worded in romance books is way overdone.
idk if you take any recommendations but i want to recommend "red white and royal blue" by casey mcquiston if you haven't read it, it's silly and cute (at least for me) and it's a good time reading!

its okay i really didn't like love and other words either. especially the reason they didn't have contact for 10 years-because he was literally pretty much assaulted?!??!
