    Brilliant tutorial. I have been told for years by various people how good Pivot Tables are, but every time I asked for a demo or training session nothing happened. Today I finally thought to myself . . . . . 'Google, help me !' and in less than 15mins thanks to Leila and TH-cam I have found the answer to my question 'How can PT's help me', and I have within the next 15mins I have applied your tutorial to a copy of my existing sandboxed data as successful tests. It was lucky for me that for years I have created data sheets using a formalised manner that worked for me 'out of the box' to implementing Pivot Tables. A big thank you.

    Okay, I’ve got to hand it to you: this is good stuff. One of my biggest pet peeves is people using a spreadsheet as a database, and that’s still a really bad idea; but this feature is actually a pretty good argument for why someone might want to export data to Excel. There’s nothing here that a real database-driven application couldn’t do, but the fact that the average user can do it on the fly is pretty dang impressive.

    Could you help me with a quick question? If I have a table with 100 rows, and I want to paste a new report that has 80 rows, is there any way to do that without leaving those previous 20 rows at the end? Right now I delete everything in the table before pasting a new report.
    Thanks!

      @TheGambleru ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Ricardo! Let's assume you have your data in range A2:F101 (first row is the header). Just paste your new report on A102:F182 and then delete the first report (rows 2:101). That way, your table still references the correct dataset and you only need to refresh the pivot.
      What you're asking can probably be achieved via VBA, but I don't think it's worth the hassle.

I had to stop at the 3:45 mark to tell you that yours is BY FAR the most informative, easiest to understand--and most importantly, you don't assume the viewers already know about half the information as almost every other presenter assumes. You act as if you truly want viewers to understand the content. Crazy approach, but I'll go along.
    Thank you for the effort and clarity

    Leila. I have not used Pivottables in many years but I recall an advantage of copying the pivottable to create a new one is that it minimizes file size (I believe a hidden copy of the underlying data is created for each new pivottable, but basing a "new" table on an old one prevents that).
