    I hope Just Jane (NX611) fly's again. It would be a shame to never see it get airborne again after so much attention to detail by all those involved. I must have been 8-9 years old (1968-1969) when I first glued a model Avro Lancaster which I had till I was in my early 20's. Just last Christmas my son brought me a diecast model Avro Lancaster which is a replica of the 460 SQN RAAF G-for George that is currently on display in the Australian War Memorial. Excellent video work by Neville Wheeldon too on the many vids you have posted on TH-cam.

    What an inspirational project. Andrew Panton is a compelling speaker, whose dedication, enthusiasm and knowledge shine through. This is such a worthy project but not to forget others such as the Stirling restoration, the Whirlwind and Typhoon groups, nor to forget the hope that an Avspec restored Mosquito will grace our skies again. Now, if every Premiership footballer were to donate a week’s salary to these projects.... (or the taxman take a windfall tax)..... Thank you for all your NX611 videos, much enjoyed.

      Tank builders:: from what i read Tony Agar's Mosquito is being restored to airworthy condition. Do you know which Mosquito is sharing the hanger with Lancaster. There is also a Halifax being done in the same hanger. Love these historic aircraft personally think that all museum aircraft should be kept in airworthy condition. Because young people don't understand what these machines did for the world and mankind. But when they see them fly they start asking questions and learn.

    Hats off to all involved in this Fantastic project. Let’s hope we see her in the air. I myself had a taxi run for my 40th 7 years ago now 😬. Let’s hope this is as successful as the Vulcan project was. Let the world know what your doing.

    Thank you Mr. Panton. The logic in restoring this aircraft to flying condition yet every Spring she will be there in taxi condition is amazing. This is genius working to please all those involved. The spectators from around the world to see a 'living' machine, the officials who want all the hoops jumped through, and you the owners who want longtime safe operation of your aerial tribute.
    I hope all the 'unexpected' problems you encounter are smoothly resolved.

    I was horrified to see that East Kirkby is now only a 'bit' of the original aerodrome! Is there enough runway for the aircraft to take off and land still remaining? Or will she be moved to an operational RAF base alongside her sister, City of Lincoln? So proud of you all I wish I lived closer as I would volunteer to help - an ex RAF aircraft fitter I worked on a few restorations in the past, SR53, Comet, Bristol Sycamore, Whirlwind and Dragonfly. Per Ardua Ad astra to all!

    Mind if I ask the total projected cost for the entire restoration project? I'll guess at around £5M As a previous contributor to XH558 wouldn't it make sense to fund the restoration in a similar way. It never ceased to amaze me how the great British public responded to funding the Vulcan. I'm sure if given the chance this could be repeated with the Lancaster. I for one would certainly support your cause (I already have!) Is it true that you plan to restore a 747 next?

      Hi Paul the cost of the project around 3.5 million. I'm sorry Paul but I'm only a visitor to the centre and have no input how the finance the project. 747- no I don't think so.Thanks for your comments and watching.

    So if we are currently 2 years into a 10 year restoration, that would if all goes well and no nasty surprises, equate to 2026?

      The Old Girl will be 81 by then. I hope she'll still be flyable at 100, and not still tied to mobility scootering up and down the runway. That would be a really significant event.

    We had an amateur radio station event inside that aircraft when it was still the Gate Guard at Scampton. I was log keeping, in the tail gunner's seat, for a good part of the day (g0mrb). Cold, damp and uncomfortable, even on the ground. I honestly don't know how those young lads managed in wartime conditions, at 10,000 feet, in the dark, Summer and Winter, heavily laden, under-protected (until P51's were available) and being shot at from all directions, then hoping to return safely, before the damaged aircraft gave up the ghost. My hat still comes off for them. For that reason alone, 'Just Jane' needs to be returned to flyable condition, to go where it belongs; in the air, and to continue to salute those who sacrificed themselves to try to save others. Shall be drawing a pension soon, and health is not good. I did fly in a two seater Spitfire a day or two before it was de-commissioned and scrapped, but was a tad too young to remember it (3 souls in the 'plane; I was born a few months later!). Would love to fly in that Lanc. just once before it's too late. Even if it's in the tail position! Keep up the good work, folks, don't take too long, and please keep us informed about progress. Thanks.
