  • This video details the installation of the DIY Audio Cable from Hansshow. This cable activates 6 more speakers in the Standard Range or Standard Range Plus Tesla Model 3 - for a total of 14 speakers. Vehicles produced after Feb. ‘20 do NOT have rear speakers installed in the parcel shelf.

I don't know Tesla doesn't just activate the 14 speakers. Given the price of the car this doesn't seem like it will be that much more expensive to do.
So just make the SR+ with all 14 speakers and make the Long Range Version 14 speakers plus the subwoofer.

I got my foglight used and it took about an hour to swap them in place. The module took about 30 mins only because it's a PIA to get the connector off and on under the dash. Now you have all the features of the full premium interior :)

Hi, thanks for taking the time to make such a great install video. It's the best one I've seen for the Hansshow kit. One question I had is for the driver side install, it seems like you popped the panels then just cut to running the cable from the passenger side to the driver side. I know you said "we're going to do the same thing" but is it literally the same? Did you plug in the front speakers, then run it along the side bottom trim to the rear passenger area to plug in the left rear speaker, on the driver side? Thanks.

    • @fatwajim
      @fatwajim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That last trim from the rear seat is a real pain to put back on especially if you have a seat cover . With this thing covered, it becomes wider and reduces the play.. real pain.. only because i have a back seat cover, i m not sure i want to hook the speaker harness for the back.. adding the hanssow will activate the 4 speakers in the front… which is plenty enough..

EDIT: Disregard all of the below, I figured it out (for anyone else who might be wondering): If you have a credit card or thin plastic squeegee (I had one from a chrome delete vinyl kit), slide it into the rearmost part of the panel by the seats, and then slide up to get it wedged into the top part of the panel (which is normally nearly impossible to separate from the plastic trim). Then start prying with a tool/fingers. As for the extra panel under the steering wheel, not necessary to remove if you follow Jim's steps here and just route the cable through the carpet. The official tutorial video shows them removing it for some reason.
    (Original comment:)
13:36 I cannot, for the life of me, get these damn carpeted side panels off. !@#$%
Any tips aside from the special prier tool you have? I'm trying to use the orange one that came with the Hansshow kit, but it's just not enough force :(
Also - did you have to take off the entire underside panel beneath the steering wheel? I got the one with the footwell light plug easily, but Hansshow's official tutorial shows them somehow managing to wriggle off the rest of the panel, and I cannot get that panel off for the life of me either! Sigh...

Hi Jim, Not sure if this question was asked before, but in Hansshow's PDF instructions they say to disconnect the negative pole of 12V power supply at the frunk, and disconnect the high-voltage gray plug under the right side of the rear seat - otherwise there's a risk of fault codes.

Going to give the bastard a go,as I only have the SR + and speakers are good but Elon is ripping me off by not giving me all the speakers.

Hi Jim, what year is ur model 3? I heard this kit is not compatible with the refreshed 2021, do yku know if that's true

Mine was produced in May ‘19 so I already have the rear speakers in the deck. I *think* from Feb 2020 on they stopped putting the speakers back there. Hansshow does sell an audio kit that includes the rear parcel shelf speakers and a subwoofer.

I’m in Atlanta. How much will you charge me to install this? I have the wire kit

Quick question i just recieved my kit i own a 2020 sr+ with rear deck speakers as an autherized installer hopefully you can help me. Is the wiring harness for the 2018-2020 diffrent from the 2021+. I think they sent me a 2021+ kit as it came with additional speakers and a wire on the harness labeled rear surround. I have messaged hansshow but am awaiting a response. Thanks.

Would the install process for the 2021 DIY kit be the same as this?

    • @teslamark3305

Maybe, you have the rear speakers. I have a late build (Dec of 21) and Tesla didn’t install the rear speakers. When I ordered the DIY kit the harness did not include wires to activate the rear speakers.

I would be upset that the speakers are reversed. You paid money and the product is obviously flawed. Otherwise, thank you for the great video, I will definitely be doing this with my SR+

Does anyone know if the refresh 2021's have the rear speakers?

My model 3 SR+ was picked up in June. It does not have the rear speakers. I crawled into the trunk and where the speakers should be is metal with no wires near it. Have seen other videos where people cut through the deck material to install speakers.

@@dchow007 How did you push the 2 pins on the side? I have issue of loud noise coming out of the speaker, and thinking it could be due to vibration of the 2 pins plug into the connector in 2021 related. I now used the t-tap to splice the wire but the issue did not improve.

Hello, sorry, it looks like it does not - as per Hansshow’s website.

You will lose bottom end with speakers being out of phase with each other.
