I did similar installation on my x3 and my sub is in storage compartment like yours however I managed to buy second hand shelve and cut 10"hole with nice grill on it. The base box can breathe and sound is much better compared when it was sealed.

good job coming up with that vent idea, I was thinking while watching this video that the bass must be really quiet in the compartment at the back of the vehicle. I felt like it was comparable to buying a subwoofer for your living room and then putting it in your garage and trying to hear bass.

Thanks for the video. I just inatalled the harness and sub (this one) tonight and it worked out well. The only thing i had to do was connect the left and right signals from the amp harness to the signal i tapped (not just right to right and leave the left input blank; it wouldnt power the amp otherwise).
This little sub and amp packs a decent punch. Great value and space.

Just followed your instructions to the tee. Ordered the speaker from Walmart for $199. Also got the Haofy Speaker Activation Wire Harness from Amazon for my 2021 Model 3 for $25. It took about 20 minutes to install the harness and another hour for the kicker sub. The sound is amazing! I have a 2022 Model Y with premium sound, and it sounds the same if not better with the extra bass. Just a heads up, when you reconnect the Tesla power, it takes about a minute or two for the computer to turn back on. I was scared at first when there was no power after connecting, but when it finally turned on, I was so happy, lol. Thanks for the review; it was super simple and a lot cheaper than buying a factory sub panel install.

Thank you so much for the video to help me quite a bit to install my subwoofer. I did pretty much identical work and followed your instructions and it did work. The only thing that I saw that was a little concerning was that the subwoofer stays on for at least 30 minutes until the car shuts down completely and it stays on standby mode with the red light. I'm not sure if that's correct or should I rewire something

For me the hardest part is getting the remote control knob to stick to anything, I tried both Velcro and 3M brand adhesive strips. Sound is a lot better, and the woofer can be heard really well even with cargo in the trunk.

The 2023 Model 3 features a 16v battery, not a 12v one. Did you have any issues feeding 16v to your 12v subwoofer?

    • @alicecantsleeep
      @alicecantsleeep 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Ok after doing some more research, it seems that many 12v accessories are built to withstand a certain voltage fluctuation. ICE cars run something like 14.4v while spinning the alternator so an upper limit of 15-16v does make sense. It may shorten the overall lifespan of the item but if it works it works. I'm going to attempt to buck converters. We'll see how that works out.

I've also ran a JL audio 12" sealed power wedge+ with the same specs for about a year in a 2023 Tesla model 3 performance. Changed the 30 amp fuse to a 20 amp fuse to compensate for the 16v battery. Absolutely zero issues. For insurance, I have an amp kill switch in case a Tesla software update causes an issue, but never had to use it.

I’ll concur with with @808jspekeg6 said. The voltage of the LV battery doesn’t matter as long as the amp supports 16v. Most amps these days support power ranging from 12-16v but it’s always best to verify your specific gear specifications. I’ll also add that for extra protection one should add a battery isolator and a resistor inline with the power source.

Never said I was good at it. I know what worked for me. You could always make a video yourself but I bet you’re just too good at it.

@@Teslamonial I have made lots of videos, put my channel on private because of copyright issues and TH-cam has been getting worse. Had over 100 videos but haven’t posted in over 3 years…. Yes I agree on it works for you… but there is issues that your tuning.

@@thewillofus.defend1351 I personally don’t like when only the kick drum comes thru the sub. I set it so that the higher frequencies are sent thru. To each their own.

@@Teslamonial never said anything about the cross over be set at 120 hz it’s a sealed box and kicker designed it to do so. Set the crossover at 120 will make up for the lack of good mids. Setting your eq to max on subsonic frequency is not an issue either as long as you set your gain correctly. Gain should be set wit eq at flat and no bass boost orbs loud on. Gain is not a volume knob. It is for matching input from source unit. Not doing correctly could cause distortion and could ruin your amp and/or subwoofer.

@@thewillofus.defend1351 appreciate the info. I made a quick install tutorial, not a TED Talk on Gain Staging. There’s always that guy tho. Thanks for being the first.

@teslamonial Brother how is the amplifier not fried since you connected this on the 16v battery, even though its rated for 12v?

@@Teslamonial So if i connect my 12v amp to our 16v battery it will not get tripped and burned? Im pretty sure no matter the wattage if the voltage is more itll get it burned unless the fuse that is on the amp wil pop and protect itself.
      What do you suggest?

@@panosfxableall I can say is the two amps I tried it on both worked fine. I’m no expert, just a guy who try’s things out!

@@Teslamonial So it makes sense that they are saying when you have a low wattage system it can take the 16v even if it is a 12v required.
